The biological principles of osseointegration caused the rehabilitation treatment with osseointegrated implant become a safe, well alternative accepted by the dental community for the high success rate, allowing the preparation of functional and aesthetic prostheses in edentulous and partial patients. We passed the initial phase of functional vision for an aesthetic approach, too, depending on the demands of the patient and the quest for excellence by professionals. Over these last years, implant treatment has undergone many changes in surgical and prosthetic protocols. The less invasive surgical techniques and the development of restorative materials, especially ceramics allow the prosthetic rehabilitation of high functional quality and aesthetics. The installation of implants in sockets immediately after extraction of teeth involved by fracture, periodontal disease, endodontic lesions, is part of the arsenal of techniques for rehabilitating a number of advantages that we get to the outcome of multidisciplinary treatment. For this, we must consider several criteria in its planning as a fundamental unit, adjacent teeth, multiple losses, system, form and number of implants, type of retention of the prosthesis components, the patient expectation of the outcome perspective, gingival biotype, standard of ridge resorption, the smile line, etc. occlusal analysis. With the three-dimensional placement of the implant can immediately join the biological processes of repair of the socket, implant osseointegration, speeding treatment time. Much has been made by companies in the surface treatment of endosseous implants to be osseointegration shortened and restorative procedures started earlier, bringing benefits to the patient and professional. Among the main advantages we can emphasize the preservation of the structures adjacent to the teeth replaced, minor resorption of bone tissue involved... In a supplier of building products were identified difficulties in communication between the Product Development area and other areas of the company that could spoil projects and processes. The process of product development is important in placing the company in the market, and through research and planning, design new products and seek to comply with the costumer in relation to deadlines, quality and cost-effective. The development of a product involves many areas in the company and communication is essential in this process. The goal of this study was to identify possible communication problems permeated by organizational culture and structure of project management working in the company. A survey was applied using a Likert scale in three different areas of the company, with questions including the topics: communication, culture and organizational structure of project management and subsequently conducted the median test and the Spearman test to analysis of responses. With the understanding and analysis of the survey it was confirmed the difficulties of communication between people and the areas of the company, besides there is an influence of the type of culture acting in the company and the current management structure of the project in a good performance of internal communication

Because of the constant increasing global competition, companies increasingly need to develop new competitive advantages and in this context a good logistics system can be both an opportunity for cost reduction and a differential on the client. The system starts at its base, which is formed by the inventory policies. These policies were created to address the strategic issues such as: How much to keep in inventory? How often placing orders? What is the optimal order size? This paper presents a model applied to a real situation of the industry in order to demonstrate the impacts of these policies on costs, as well as a literature review of existing literature related to the subject, for the construction limits and conditions of the model. By applying these concepts the model has been formatted and applied to three different policies, providing a simulation of the results. Finally a comparison is made between the three policies shown and the policy that bests fits the companies’ requirements is indicated

Brazil was one of the countries that stood out in the list of nations that publishes more articles in scientific journals. From 2007 to 2008, the Brazilian scientific production has moved from 15th to 13rd place in the world ranking published articles in professional journals. However, 60% of articles published by the Brazilians are in Portuguese, which makes the Brazilian work have little international attention. The purpose of this research is to build and analyze a parallel corpus composed of a book of Remote Sensing and its translation in the direction English into Portuguese in order to create a glossary of most recurrent terms in the literature of Remote Sensing. The achievement of these goals will take for theoretical and methodological foundation the Corpus-Based Translation Studies (BAKER, 1993, 1995, 1996; CAMARGO, 2005), Corpus Linguistics (BERBER SARDINHA, 2004) and principles of Terminology (BARROS, 2004; KRIEGER & FINATTO, 2004). It will also use Wordsmith Tools program and its tools. Besides the parallel corpus, we will also build two comparable corpora respectively from articles published in Brazilian and international journals in the area. The first results show that the translators made use of greater variation of vocabulary in their translations, which can be a way to make the text more clear to the reader. For the analysis of glossary entries, professionals from the National Institute for Space Research - INPE, will be consulted and their views aggregated to this research to give consistency to the production of the proposed bilingual glossary.

Objective: Investigated the consequences of tongue piercing in individuals from the city of Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil. Methods: In Araraquara there are five piercing shops, but only two agreed to help the research by providing the contact information of customers who had had their tongues pierced. These customers were contacted by telephone. By the end of the research, the sample consisted of 100 individuals from both genders aged 18 years or more. Not all of them still had their tongue piercing. A form with six objective questions was used to collect information. The information was then analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: From the 100 participants, 77 had been using tongue piercing for more than 6 months. It took less than 4 months for the tongue to heal. Sixty–eight individuals used oral rinses and of these, 19 also used painkillers. Only 11 individuals did not present symptoms after the first weeks using the piercing. On the other hand, 56 individuals reported complications such as increased salivation, speaking difficulties, gingival or mucosal traumas, dental fractures and eating difficulties. Conclusion: All these tongue-piercing complications justify efforts to inform the youth about the use of piercing in the oral cavity.

This article intends to contribute to a reflection about the relationship between the body, media and femininities, thus seeking to indicate some elements in order to clarify how the media currently interferes in this relationship, especially for the construction of female identity with the presentation of styles of femininity that are part of a particular body standard. In order to do so, we present a brief bibliographical debate on media issues, identity, discourse and power, electing as empirical choices examples of print media aimed at the female segment in Brazil and Barbie dolls.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate by histometric and immunohistochemistry analysis the effects of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in alveolar prior to placement of mini-implants in animals with or without induced periodontal disease. Material and method: Thirty-two rats were used. Periodontal disease (PD) was induced by ligature in the lower left first molar. After 7 days of PD evolution, it was performed removal of the ligature and extraction of the left lower first molars in all animals. Thus, animals were divided into 2 groups (n=16) according to the treatments in the dental alveolus before immediate implant installation: MD (control) : mechanical debridement (MD), irrigation with 1 ml of saline solution followed by implant installation; aPDT- MD, irrigation with 1 ml of Toluidine Blue-O and low intensity laser (LLLT) and implant installation. Eight animals from each group were euthanized at 15 and 30 days after the installation of mini-implants. Specimens were processed for histologic, immunohistochemical and histometric analysis. The histometric data were processed for statistical analysis (Kruskall-Wallis and Dunn test; p <0.05). Result: In treatment analysis, results indicated that there was a greater BIC in implants installed in uncontaminated alveolus treated with a PDT ( p<0,05) and greater imuno-reactivity to OPG in bone issue treated with aPDT. Conclusion: The aPDT proved to be effective in bone loss control in no contaminated area and it has increased the bone loss and metabolic activity in alveolus irradiated prior to implant installation.

This case report presents details of a new surgical technique for mandibular ridge sagittal osteotomy and expansion associated to immediate dental implants in atrophic ridges. The bone atrophies represents a challenge for the surgeons that intends to modify this situation. In the past, the only viable option was the onlay bone graft. However, the bone graft requests a second surgical site that certainly increases the postoperative morbidity, without mentioning the longer treatment time required. The sagittal osteotomy of the alveolar crest represents a faster option, because it eliminates the time requested for bone graft integration, providing rehabilitation of edentulous areas with thin alveolar crests that otherwise would need additi onal surgical procedures for a satisfactory result. The authors report a clinical case in which this technique was used with the installation of a Bicon dental implant in the same surgical time, showing all the steps for this single-tooth rehabilitation.

Introduction: In clinical situations where severe bone resorption has occurred following tooth loss, implant treatment options may comprise either a previous bone reconstruction or only the use of short implants. Objective: This non-systematic review summarizes and discusses some aspects of the use of short implants, such as: biomechanical aspects, success rate, longevity and surgical-prosthetic planning. Literature review: Current and relevant references were selected in order to compare short dental implants to conventional ones. Several studies have highlighted the great importance of wide-diameter implants. Dental short implants have shown high predictability and success rates when some biomechanical aspects are taken into consideration. Conclusion: Placement of short dental implants is a viable treatment method for patients with decreased bone height.
