A crise do subprime e seus efeitos sobre os Estados Unidos e reflexos no Brasil

Between December 2007 and June 2009 the United States witnessed 18 months of recession that became known as the subprime crisis. Beginning in the housing market, the crisis moved into the banking and financial markets and spread throughout the entire economy through a domino effect, affecting the majority of other businesses. A major reflection of this was the large rise in unemployment rates due to business slashing jobs in an attempt to preserve cash. Although the crisis has officially ended, the unemployment rate reached over 10% in 2010 in the United States. American's continue to seek new jobs in a very difficult employment market, while attempting to manage the family household budget. American household income, which decreased either by pay cuts, job loss, and the effects of inflation, leads the majority of Americans to declare that the crisis had not yet ended. The crisis has spread to the world in varying degrees. Brazil was one of the countries least affected due to government policies and the large amount of foreign exchange. Although the crisis has affected Brazil only slightly, we will show how it reached this country and how the government solved this problem. This research paper will explain how the subprime crisis began, how it manifested itself in the U.S. economy and throughout the population. Also, it will show the crisis’ effects in Brazil and show some statements from Americans with their respective views and their experiences relative to the crisis

Um debate sobre os limites do crescimento econômico no Brasil sob a perspectiva do modelo Harrod-Domar

Desde fins da década de 70, com as crises do petróleo e a crise externa, ocorreram mudanças no sistema internacional de financiamento que levaram o sistema econômico brasileiro do “milagre econômico” à “década perdida”. Com isso, os anos 80 foram marcados por períodos de recessão, desequilíbrios internos, descontrole inflacionário, déficits no setor público, resultando em problemas macroeconômicos, os quais se tornaram herança para as próximas décadas. Sendo assim, nos anos 80, 90 e, parte dos anos 2000, a economia brasileira teve como principal foco políticas de visassem o ajuste econômico e a estabilização, deixando o crescimento econômico como segundo plano, fato que resultou em um baixo crescimento econômico, ou seja, baixas taxas do PIB real. Contudo, este fato foi contrariado a partir de 2004 quando o Brasil passou a apresentar taxas mais significativas de investimento, permitindo um crescimento do PIB superior a 5% a.a., sendo que para este período muitos economistas defendiam que a economia nacional poderia crescer de forma “sustentada”, sem causar pressões inflacionárias, a um nível de 4,5% a 5% ao ano. Assim sendo, nos dias atuais uma das abordagens com maior enfoque no ramo econômico é a questão do crescimento sustentável, o qual esteja dentro dos limites estruturais da economia brasileira, e com isso não gere pressões inflacionárias. Este questionamento ganhou força devido ao fato de que nos últimos anos o Brasil tem apresentado um crescimento acelerado, preocupando muitos economistas, os quais acreditam que este crescimento seja insustentável e contrariando outros, que defendem que, as taxas de crescimento do PIB (Produto Interno Bruto) se dão em níveis muito baixos, inferiores ao crescimento permitido pelo potencial estrutural do Brasil, devido ao controle que é aplicado a esta taxa em relação à meta de inflação determinada... Considerações clínicas em implantes imediatos

The biological principles of osseointegration caused the rehabilitation treatment with osseointegrated implant become a safe, well alternative accepted by the dental community for the high success rate, allowing the preparation of functional and aesthetic prostheses in edentulous and partial patients. We passed the initial phase of functional vision for an aesthetic approach, too, depending on the demands of the patient and the quest for excellence by professionals. Over these last years, implant treatment has undergone many changes in surgical and prosthetic protocols. The less invasive surgical techniques and the development of restorative materials, especially ceramics allow the prosthetic rehabilitation of high functional quality and aesthetics. The installation of implants in sockets immediately after extraction of teeth involved by fracture, periodontal disease, endodontic lesions, is part of the arsenal of techniques for rehabilitating a number of advantages that we get to the outcome of multidisciplinary treatment. For this, we must consider several criteria in its planning as a fundamental unit, adjacent teeth, multiple losses, system, form and number of implants, type of retention of the prosthesis components, the patient expectation of the outcome perspective, gingival biotype, standard of ridge resorption, the smile line, etc. occlusal analysis. With the three-dimensional placement of the implant can immediately join the biological processes of repair of the socket, implant osseointegration, speeding treatment time. O FMI e o Sistema Financeiro Internacional: uma análise das mudanças estratégicas nas décadas de 1980 e 1990

The current study has aimed to analyze changes in strategies at the International Monetary Fund that occurred during the 1980s and 1990s. The analysis is done through the the recovery of the 1980s international economic scene, amid the global recession and debt crisis, and shows how the course of the decade and influenced changes under recommendations provided by the IMF to countries with balance of payments crisis. Furthermore, the paper also describes the changes in the international financial system, in some countries which have adopted them and also to the International Monetary Fund itself

Association between post-orthodontic treatment gingival margin alterations and symphysis dimensions

Orthodontic therapy is known to be associated with the development of gingival recession. Several factors may be involved in the causal chain of this outcome, including anatomical and behavioral aspects. Among the anatomical aspects, the dimensions of the mandibular symphysis could play a predisposing role. This study evaluated the relationship between the mandibular symphysis dimensions prior to orthodontic therapy and the development of gingival recessions on the lower incisors and cuspids. Records from 189 orthodontically treated adolescents were evaluated, including radiographs, casts and intra-oral photographs. Symphysis dimensions were assessed by cephalograms. Gingival margin alterations were determined in photographs and cast models. Association between gingival margin alterations and symphysis dimensions was tested by chi-square (α=0.05). Occurrence of gingival recession increased after orthodontic therapy. No association was observed on average of symphysis dimensions and the occurrence of gingival recessions. It may be concluded that pretreatment symphysis dimensions may not be used as predictors of gingival recession after orthodontic therapy.

Innovation in pediatric surgery: the use of ultrasonic CVD tips: case report

The non-eruption of teeth due to highly keratinized gingival mucosa is a frequent event in the pediatric dentistry, which harms the oral aesthetics and function. A surgical excision of the involved area is indicated, exposing the non-erupted tooth. This procedure involves anesthesia and cutting instruments that may increase the fear and anxiety in young patients. The use of new technologies has avoided these instruments and has promoted more comfort to the patients. This study presents clinical cases in which gingivectomy was performed using the innovative method with an ultrasound-activated CVD tip. It was concluded that this method presented effectiveness, promoted more comfort, and less fear to the patients, making its use a viable alternative to pediatric surgery.

Doença periodontal em pacientes com Diabetes Mellitus: influência de polimorfismos genéticos?

Currently it is clear that there are several factors that can act as modifiers of diseases, without causing them directly, but having the potential to make these conditions to progress faster and more severe. There is a growing number of studies investigating the relationship between Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Periodontal Disease (PD), including some studies focusing on the influence of genetic factors in this process. The aim of this study was to verify through a literature review, the influence of genetic polymorphisms in the development of PD in patients with DM. PubMed and BIREME were used as databases and the terms Periodontitis or Periodontal Disease, Polymorphism, Diabetes Mellitus were searched. After a refinement in the literature, five studies were selected and they were related to chronic PD with DM and polymorphisms in cytokine genes, especially interleukin 1 (IL1) e IL6. Polymorphisms were associated with a higher concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the gingival crevicular fluid of diabetic patients when compared to non-diabetic. In conclusion, it is necessary to confirm this association with longitudinal studies that must investigate a larger number of cytokine genes in order to understand the cause-effect relationship between genetic polymorphisms, DM and PD.
