For engineering projects that require high reliability levels, is often not enough know only physical and chemical material properties. It’s necessary understand the failure mode of these materials in operation to ensure security level in the project and establish more stringent criteria in the analysis of structural integrity. Due to this need, aircraft industry has been using aluminum alloys in their designs and projects. “Currently more than 70% of aircraft structures are built of high strength aluminum alloys among which stand out 7075-T6 and 2024-T3 alloys, which are considered basics for being used in the new alloys development.” (PASTOUKHOV & VOORWALD, 1995). Some years ago ALCOA develops Al 2524 alloy that has emerged as refinement of Al 2024 (Al, Cu. Mg) alloy, with purpose of improve fracture toughness and fatigue resistance on structural components. The present research addresses testing of fatigue crack propagation under variable amplitude loading for Al 2024 alloy, observing the interaction effects from application of overhead blocks and plastic zone at the crack tip and makes an analysis of fracture surface images

Análise da densidade óssea de rádio-ulna de cães SRD utilizando o método de imersão

Imaging diagnosis is a medical specialty that uses imaging techniques to perform diagnosis. In diagnostic imaging various methods are used such as direct absorption of photons - SPA and DPA, radiographic photometry, the dual-energy radiographic absorptiometry - DEXA, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and optical densitometry in radiographic image. The dog can be considered one of the most widely used animals in the study of bone diseases and searching for a reliable diagnosis, although not an ideal model for the study of osteoporosis, because these animals tend not to develop a decrease in bone mineral density. The objective of this study was to analyze bone density in mongrel dogs from the determination of the variation of density along the radio-ulna bone and also the mean value related to gender, weight and age of individuals. The density analysis carried out showed that for this data set, there is a significant difference in the case of gender and age of the animal and may generalize according to these variables. The only significant difference was found in the weight, which increases bone mass is related to weight gain through the growth of the animal

This paper presents a technique dubbed WiMAX radio link, the IEEE 802.16 was completed in October 2001 and published on April 8, 2002 and is constantly updated, this technology specifies an interface for wireless metropolitan networks (WMAN) and is under control of the WiMAX Forum, which is a group of companies responsible for the dissipation of this technology in the world, the great benefit of this standard is to offer broadband Internet connection in areas where there is no infrastructure such as fiber optics that has a cost higher. The main purpose of this paper is to present the theoretical and technical characteristics of this technology for both the standard for fixed and mobile standard, regulation of frequency bands by the FCC and description of the physical layer, through to basic concepts are used in many other types of radio link and technologies have been adapted and updated for this little-known standard, allowing a greater range and speed, which are specified and differentiate these advancements is one of the contributions of the work done here. After the theoretical conceptualization stage, a real case study has been inserted in this work to demonstrate the effectiveness of this technology deployed. Caracterização microestrutural de junta soldada com arco submerso e análise da propagação de trincas em um tubo de aço API X 70

In this work a study of an API 5L X70 steel, which is used in the manufacture of oil and gas pipelines, has been made. This class of steel show high strength and ductility values, and has been increasingly studied due the growing demand of oil and natural gas, which in consequence, increases the needing of new pipelines to transport them. The material studied has been directly taken from a tube provided by TenarisConfab, and a special attention has been given to the fatigue crack growth rate study, which proved that a crack will grow at different rates according to the tube position where it is growing

Avaliação de métodos de fixação de fraturas distais de rádio e ulna em cães de pequeno porte: revisão sistemática

As fraturas de rádio e ulna em animais de companhia são ocorrências ortopédicas de grande incidência em Medicina Veterinária. Cães de pequeno porte parecem ter uma maior incidência de fraturas em terço distal do rádio e ulna. A consolidação de ossos fraturados baseia-se na redução anatômica ou na aproximação dos maiores fragmentos. Para haver uma correta cicatrização óssea, os implantes ortopédicos devem anular todas as forças atuantes no foco de fratura. O tratamento dessas fraturas é descrito como difícil, em porte do tipo toy e miniatura. A ocorrência da não consolidação óssea é alta chegando a 60% dos casos estudados. Alguns fatores identificados afetam a osteossíntese em cães de raças de pequeno porte, pois são inerentes à instabilidade biomecânica, como, o mínimo contato da superfície do osso após a redução, devido ao pequeno diâmetro existente, diminuição da cobertura de tecido mole, formação constante de cartilagem no foco da fratura, e diminuição da densidade vascular na junção diáfise-metafisária distal em comparação com cães de raças de grande porte. O objetivo da presente revisão sistemática foi avaliar o melhor método de tratamento para fraturas distais de rádio e/ou ulna em cães de raças de pequeno porte. Como metodologia foram utilizados 14 artigos científicos, sendo 11 internacionais e quatro nacionais. A aplicação de placas, nesse estudo sistemático, foi considerado o método mais eficaz para fixação de fraturas distais de rádio e ulna em cães de pequeno porte

O uso do rádio e da TV por instituições religiosas: um fenômeno crescente nos mais variados canais de comunicação

In the present study aimed to study the use of radio and television in Brazil by the various Christian aspects rooted in the country. The main objective was to analyze how the churches define the orientation or the use of strategies of both comprehensive and traditional media vehicles, which are still the most popular mass media, both for the formation of culture and national public opinion in both states and municipalities, which demarcate and retain regional traits that differentiate culturally, economically and socially diverse Brazilian populations. Christian churches are increasingly seeking loopholes and legal facilities, public spaces and broadcast media to facilitate the achievement of followers of their theological ideologies. On the radio, on television and also through social networks of the Internet, pastors, priests, bishops and lay Christians to seek their potential both in public space and home individually, using old and new individual devices and portable reception of audiovisual content. Propagação de rambutanzeiro (Nephelium lappaceum L.) por enxertia

There is great genetic diversity of rambutan plants, thus, to establish commercial orchards culture, it is recommended the use of plants vegetatively propagated. Therefore, this research aimed to determine the best method of grafting, graft protection and type of rootstock for its propagation. The experiment was repeated in two seasons (autumn/winter and spring/summer). The experimental design was completely randomized in both experiments, with four replicates, each experimental unit consisted of 10 plants analyzed in a 4x2x2 factorial with four types of grafting (whip graft-WG; cleft graft -CG; wedge graft-WG; and inverted wedge graft-IWG;), 2 types of graft protection (Biodegradable and plastic) and 2 types of rootstock (without or with leaves). The variables analyzed in this study were: percentage of grafting success, number and length of buds (cm). For grafting performed in autumn /winter, both by cleft grafting as whip graft with biodegradable strip and rootstock leafless provided the best results in propagation of rambutan tree. The best results were observed during the autumn / winter.
