Electrochemical kinetic study of surface layer growth on natural pyrite in acid medium

This paper presents electrochemical experiments on natural pyrite that combine potentiostatic and voltammetric techniques. X-ray microanalysis is used as an auxiliary technique. The layer growth on pyrite surface is conducted in a wide range of pH and potential range: 3.4 <= pH <= 5.9 with E = 0.80 V (versus SHE), and 0.80 V <= E <= 1.00 V with pH 4.5 (versus SHE) in acetic acid-acetate buffer. This work is unique for two reasons: (1) phenomenological model about layer growth is applied and mathematical-physic consistence is verified and (2) Meyer's hypotheses of chemical mechanism are used to explain kinetic parameters of the phenomenological model. A NEURAL NET FOR EXTRACTING KNOWLEDGE FROM NATURAL-LANGUAGE DATA-BASES

The present paper introduces a new model of fuzzy neuron, one which increases the computational power of the artificial neuron, turning it also into a symbolic processing device. This model proposes the synapsis to be symbolically and numerically defined, by means of the assignment of tokens to the presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons. The matching or concatenation compatibility between these tokens is used to decided about the possible connections among neurons of a given net. The strength of the compatible synapsis is made dependent on the amount of the available presynaptic and post synaptic tokens. The symbolic and numeric processing capacity of the new fuzzy neuron is used here to build a neural net (JARGON) to disclose the existing knowledge in natural language data bases such as medical files, set of interviews, and reports about engineering operations.

O advento de novas matrizes energéticas no Brasil: experiências da implantação do PNPB em Mirante do Paranapanema e a produção de biodiesel em Mauá, Estado de São Paulo

Faced with the global discussion about the development of new alternative energy sources, this work tries to contribute to the understanding of the introduction of biodiesel in the energy market, identifying the barriers in the social logic, economic and productive in different spaces, rural and urban. Based on the guidelines of the National Biodiesel Production and Use Program (PNPB), it intended to accompany the implementation of public policies in relation to family farmers settled in the Pontal, located in the western region of São Paulo. In parallel, we will analyze the organizational structure and logistics of the production of biodiesel in the city, although it does not dependent on agricultural production and it is not a target of public policies, it takes advantage of the demand created by PNPB when it comes to increasing the amount of biodiesel blended with mineral origin diesel. The activity examined in the urban space is the collection of used frying oil held by Ecosanta Biofuels, a company located in the town of Maua, São Paulo metropolitan region. O uso de experimentos didáticos como ferramenta para o ensino de física nos anos iniciais da educação básica

When it comes to teaching physics in the early years of elementary school, the first question is: but there are opportunities to teach concepts to children of such complexity? This study sought to examine approaches and strategies to enter the Basic Education in Physics. To this end, we used low cost materials testing, taking as its starting point the work of Ferreira (1978) instrumentation for Teaching Physics, particularly with the theme electrostatics. The present study was made from the use of prototypes developed with the materials cited. Observations were made in the classroom looking for, from the records of teaching, analyzing the behavior of children and their arguments, possibilities for Physics Teaching this age group as well as some evidence of their cognitive development. In teaching discussions were held with students of the early years of elementary school involving conceptual and phenomenological aspects, adapting such knowledge at the level of logical and mathematical thinking that was still under development. The work shows that it is possible to work on electrostatic physical concepts with children belonging to the age group of nine to ten years. With the support of the group Pibid Physics city of Rio Claro, I realize my observations and practices at the Municipal School Marcelo Schmidt, which proved to be available and open for acceptance of this proposal

Um estudo sobre a resolução de problemas e suas relações com a afetividade

This research aims at examining the relationship between the performance of elementary school students Cycle I in problem solving and attitudes toward mathematics. For this, a research was conducted at a state school in the city of Bauru which was selected for convenience. Participants were randomly selected consisting of 75 students, of whom 21 were third years and 57 were of three classes of fifth year. The instruments used for data collection were: a informative questionnaire to characterize the students in age, grade, favorite subjects and the least liked, among others, an attitude scale, Likert type, to examine the attitudes toward mathematics; a interviews with 11 selected students according to scores on the attitudes and mathematical problems to be solved through the method of thinking aloud. The results showed that the major difficulties encountered by students in solving problems were: to understand the problems, formalizing the reasoning, recognize in the problem the algorithms needed for its resolution, make calculations with decimal numbers, do combinatorics, using the sum of equal portions instead of multiplying, self-confidence and autonomy in what he was doing, and others; participants with positive attitudes towards mathematics showed greater confidence to solve problems as well as a greater understanding on what was required by them, but were not detected significant relation between the attitudes and performance, since it was unfavorable

The work consists of analyzing the risk management of investments by applying statistical concepts, economic and mathematical models considering the assets on the market on renowned financial institution. The assessment of these risks becomes increasingly interesting in view of minimizing your losses thus maximizing your chances of gains in both markets boom as extreme uncertainty, even with the sudden changes of scenery. Introducing concepts of investment funds, as well as the classification of the types of funds as funds management and equity, its guidelines, the concept of market investment funds. The types of assets comprising the investment funds, their taxation rules beyond the incidents that market widely used by investors and skilled people, both physical and legal, who keep their resources in this modality. With the historical data collected yields of investment funds of the Bank of Brazil, is an accomplished inflation adjustment and calculated the mean and variance for the verification of the model of Markowitz efficient frontier, a method used as investment analysis. Projeto e concepção de um quadcopter utilizando o controle PID

The present work refers to the design, conception and development of a quadcopter based on PID controllers, a widespread microcontroller on the market was being implemented, the Arduino. Also made use of LabVIEW programming tool from National Instruments company for the quadcopter control and telemetry. For the control, LabVIEW software acquired the joystick commands, making the necessary adjustments to the perfect interpretation by microcontroller on the quadcopter and adjusts the parameters of PID controllers. For telemetry, data relating to quadcopter behavior are received, interpreted and presented in an intuitive user interface. In the first part of this graduate work presents the theoretical background on the subject, with a brief history about the quadcopters, followed by the main projects in the academic and commercial matters. Also are presented the theories of communications used in the design and PID control. Then an overview of the dynamic and mathematical model is demonstrated. Having done this, the physical and computer components required to complete the project are showed and the results are achieved consequently. Finally, a conclusion is made taking into account the results obtained. In this work will be presented the PID control of quadcopter translational movements only to roll and pitch movements
