Distúrbios funcionais da oclusão e sua correlação com radiografias transcranianas da articulação temporomandibular, em pacientes portadores de fissuras labiopalatais

Anamnesis, clinical examinations and temporomandibular joint transcraneal radiographs for 22 adults with cleft lip and palate were carried out in order to evaluate the occlusion and correlate it with radographic findings. The conclusions were: 72.8% of the patients have at least one sign or symptom of craniomandibular disorders (CMD); although the occlusal conditions were severely altered, most of the signs and symptoms were classified as mild; the greater frequency of the signs and symptoms occurred among women; in the radiographic evaluation, all of the assymptomatic patients had both condyles with normal contour and all of the patients with altered contour had at least one sign or symptom; the bilateral centered position of the condyles in the fossa e did not warrant the absence of signs and symptoms; some patients with bilateral condyles positioned posteriorly or caudally or even assimetrically, did not present signs and symptoms of dysfunction; the radiographic findings should be correlated with clinical findings; and a great number of patients were not observed with clinical board of C:MD caused by the occlusion. Optical coherence tomography evaluation of idiopathic macular hole treatment by gas-assisted posterior vitreous detachment

PURPOSE: To report a case of idiopathic macular hole, with vitreoretinal traction confirmed by optical coherence tomography that was successfully treated by a single intravitreous perfluoropropane (C3F8) gas bubble injection.METHODS: Case report. A 65-year-old patient with idiopathic macular hole (stage 2, one eye) received an intravitreous gas injection and was prospectively followed with optical coherence tomography.RESULTS: A complete posterior vitreous detachment was achieved within 6 weeks after gas injection. Visual acuity improved from 20/80 to 20/25 by 10 months of followup. Optical coherence tomography disclosed vitreoretinal traction release and macular hole closure. No complications were related to the procedure.CONCLUSION: This simple procedure can assist a complete posterior vitreous detachment with relief of the hyaloid-foveolar traction, facilitating macular hole closure. The Exercise Induced Pulmonar Haemorrhage (EIPH) affect a large amount of atlethe horses. It affects the horse's performance in any kind of competition and it can represent incresead spending of money or even an economic loss. Thoroughbred horses are the most affectef breed by EIPH because of intensive activity. Meanwhile any other kind of horse breed that is involved in athletic competition can also be affected by EIPH as well. In this brief work we are presenting the most common causes and factors from the EIPH as well the prevention and some types of treatment available nowadays

Avaliação da influência da taxa de resfriamento posterior ao tratamento térmico nas propriedades mecânicas do aço API 5L X70

In this work a study about the mechanical properties of the API 5L X70 steel, with or without heat treating, has been made, with the intetion of assess the influence of cooling after the austenitization heat treating by air cooling (normalizing) and a rapid cooling with oil (tempering). This steel is known by high strength and ductility values and it is commonly used in the manufacture of oil pipes. The growing energy demand encouraged the study and manufacture of this material. Although this microalloyed dispense subsequent heat treatings, it was proven that its implementation is very advantageous for this type of application, improving hardness and plastic stability. It was also assessed that the faster the cooling rate is, the better will be these properties
