This paper deals with hypersegmentation of words that are characterized by the unconventional employment of a graphical boundary (using a white space or hyphen) within the limits of the word, as in "em bora" (“although”, using a white space), and "chama-da" (“called”, using the hyphen). In a study conducted on these data, we identified motivations arising not only from their literate nature but also from the morphosyntactic and prosodic information. We showed that there are linguistic features recurrent in these registers of word boundaries, based on the analysis of texts produced by the students who attended the last four years of elementary school in a public school in São Paulo. In this paper, we advance on this study by selecting data whose characteristics do not match those which were recurrent. We will argue that the unconventional presence of boundary within the written word limits may be interpreted as representing prosodic configurations (of intonation and rhythm nature) which contribute to the construction of the relation of meanings in the text.

Dark Water is the title of the translation of a short story, ―Floating Water‖, from the book Honogurai mizu no soko kara by Koji Suzuki, originally published in Japan, that the Japanese director Hideo Nakata adapted for the cinema and that was remade by the Brazilian director Walter Salles Jr. The objective of this study is to analyse Walter Salles’ film to demonstrate how it resolved the problems of transcreation, whilst at the same time it fulfilled commercial and artistic functions and incorporated the traces of its aesthetic trajectory. In this case, attention is drawn to the types of relationship between literature and cinema, to the metalinguistic function as a generator of poetics and of an interesting dialogue between genres.

It is unanimous among lexicologists that lexical units present deep marks in the representativeness of cultural and behavioral issues. Thus, some scholars have been proposing methodologies in order to enable the verification, scientifically, of mechanisms to systematize the lexicon within a specific time/space. In this way, it would be possible to promote discussions about its relations with social matters. These lexical contents can be analyzed, for instance, in the publicity having in mind its power of extending the desires of its receiver/customer to the acquisition of products/services since it is a media outlet that provide aids, by means of verbal texts produced by advertising editors, in order to deal with issues of our society, as those related to female and male genders. From all of this, the present article aims at organizing lexical items in market segments, here referred to lexicon-marketing, so as to make possible observation of social behaviors in the universes of both women and men.

In this article we address the causality conveyed by constructions with porque in compositions written by students from a public school. Our purpose is to compare factors of cognitive and discursive order for examining possible motivations related to the variability and to the complexity involved in causal constructions. The analysis that we propose assumes that porque may have different interpretations depending on the context of use and may indicate the cause of an actual event, or the cause of a belief, or the cause of a speech act. We consider some theses of ontogenetic nature that support that the most cognitively complex meanings appear later, but we hold that there are other issues at stake. In what follows, we present evidence that the emergence of different causal relations with porque also takes place as a result of the operation of discourse genres.

In this paper, we present a discussion on the class of Discourse Markers (DMs), aiming at providing some specific contributions to studies on the grammaticalization of DMs. We highlight the fact that DMs do not constitute a grammatical class, and then we formulate a few insights on the adequacy of the notion of the “grammaticalization of DMs”.

Este trabalho objetiva estudar o fenômeno da posposição do sujeito com relação ao verbo em distintos tipos e gêneros do jornal: O Araraquarense do início do século XX, e verificar se há alguma diferença entre eles, quanto à posição do sujeito na frase. A escolha de um corpus jornalístico é devida ao fato de seu texto ser muito propício para analisar os processos de implementação de uma possível mudança no português brasileiro; por se tratar de um texto público, o qual atua sobre os elementos da situação sócio-histórica em que está inserido e por sofrer influências dessa situação. Foram analisados dados coletados de artigos de opinião e notas sociais, levando em conta os tipos textuais: descrição, dissertação, injunção e narração (TRAVAGLIA, 2003, p.103). Constatou-se que os tipos (dissertativo e narrativo) foram predominantes nos artigos de opinião, e que somente o tipo narrativo esteve presente nas notas sociais. A posição do sujeito foi analisada em função dos seguintes grupos de fatores: tipo sintático do verbo, tipo morfológico do sujeito, padrão de construção e tipo textual. Como principais resultados, constatou-se: (i) um índice de posposição de 47% em notas sociais e de 19,2% em artigos de opinião; (ii) tipo do verbo (transitivo direto) 21,7% em artigos de opinião e 44,7% em notas sociais; neste mesmo gênero os verbos (inacusativo, bitransitivo, intransitivo e verbo de ligação) apresentaram, respectivamente, 71%, 45%, 37% e 37,9%; (iii) tipo morfológico do sujeito (sintagma nominal) em artigo de opinião 16,5% e 41,4% em notas sociais, 28,2% de (pronome pessoal) em artigo de opinião e 68,3% de (nome próprio) em notas sociais; (iiii) tipo textual (narrativo) 47,6% em notas sociais e em artigo de opinião 18,8% (dissertativo) e 27,8% (injuntivo)

This paper is part of a larger project. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the movie Girl With a Pearl Earring (2003) by Peter Webber using the theoretical perspective of dialogue from the Bakhtin Circle, Medved, Volochinov. The multidisciplinary and interartistic potential of cinema is considered in this paper when the linguistic organization and the translinguistic elements in the corpus are focused on and understood as an example of cinema genre as discussed in the Russian Circle. The study of the ways of incorporation of different genericities by cinema, illustrated by the dialogues between the pictorial genre, the novel and the movies contribute to the recognition of the cinema as a genre that is composed by the incorporation of other genres. The construction of the cinematographic work in analysis will be regarded in its architectonic (form, content and style) and in the activity field in which it circulates.

This paper aims to discuss teaching of literary genres writing. It presents reflections on studies of teaching of writing and on official documents that define pedagogical practices of text production. It presents, finally, a discourse analysis of the production of literary genres in Revista Língua Portuguesa, showing how is the media coverage of the teaching of writing in this vehicle. The research is based on Bakhtin studies of discourse.

Human beings' motor capacity development is essential, because it facilitates movement, enabling the performance of motor activities and others. In pre-school, boys and girls acquire the motor capacity development considered basic that, through several factors such as neurological maturation, which is in charge of providing more complete movements, and body growth, which has the goal of a better body domain, makes them improve individually the performance of motor abilities, but it can minimize them if laterality does not develop spontaneously. There by, this study focused on assessing the neurological development between genders of students engaging in fundamental school. Forty-three children of both genders at age six took part in this study. The evaluation occurred through the LEFÉVRE protocol (1976), which aims at assessing the maturity and development of the Nervous System through tests of the Evolutionary Neurological Exam (ENE), which comprises a series of tests involving specific tasks, regarding age in the static balance items, dynamic balance, appendicular coordination, trunk-member coordination, motor persistency, sensibility and synkinesis. Neurological development comparisons were performed between boys and girls for each item of the battery of tests. The results of the motor persistency and sensitiveness and sensorial activity tests were below the average for six-year-old children, but there was not any difference in gender comparison for each item of the battery of tests, only a small tendency for one of the genders, but meaningless, having a variance in only two tests of the synkinesis exam (Foot-hand and paper ball with the dominant hand), in which boys had a bigger percentage of synkinesis presence than girls did. A busca de novas fontes de energia tem sido estimulada pela demanda crescente do mercado e o bioetanol é uma alternativa promissora para esta questão. A produção de etanol a partir de resíduos agroindustriais lignocelulósicos está sendo pesquisada em vários laboratórios do Brasil e do exterior. Os resíduos da agroindústria são formados, em grande parte, por fibra vegetal lignocelulósica, a qual é altamente resistente à degradação, dificultando a conversão dos componentes a monossacarídeos fermentescíveis. Desta forma, a prospecção de micro-organismos que viabilizem a conversão de material lignocelulósico em etanol tem aumentado consideravelmente. Sendo assim, o estudo de micro-organismos associados às formigas cortadeiras, os quais são adaptados ao uso da biomassa lignocelulolítica, pode ser promissor para a descoberta de enzimas adequadas à degradação eficiente da fibra vegetal, podendo significar um passo adiante na produção do etanol de segunda geração. Neste trabalho analisamos a ação hidrolítica e a liberação de açúcares fermentescíveis por fungos dimórficos do gênero Lecythophora e de leveduras do gênero Cryptococcus sobre o material lignocelulósico. A metodologia empregada consistiu na inoculação das linhagens em diferentes resíduos da agroindústria, como bagaço de cana-de-açúcar, casca de café, casca de arroz e sabugo de milho triturado, seguida da quantificação dos açúcares redutores liberados, bem como da produção de enzimas hidrolíticas extracelulares, como endoamilase, exoamilase, pectinase, endoglucanase, exoglucanase e xilanase. O gênero Lecythophora mostrou-se melhor produtor enzimático quando comparado com o gênero Cryptococcus, ambos em meio suplementado com bagaço de cana-de-açúcar.
