Alternativas para o controle de nematoides gastrintestinais de pequenos ruminantes

Sheep and goat farming requires an efficient management program, due to losses caused by parasites in susceptible animals. Many factors may collaborate to improve infection tolerance in the herd, such as: genetics, nutrition, physiological status, and age. The problem caused by resistance to antihelmintic agents has led to the spread of alternative techniques for parasite controls. The latest strategies include selective treatment with the FAMACHA method, phytotherapy, biological control with predatory fungi, and strategies that still await scientific confirmation, such as homeopathy, the dilution of resistance with the introduction of susceptible parasites, and the combination of drugs without antihelmintic effect. The main objective of these methods is to reduce the usage of antiparasitic agents, thus slowing the development of resistance and promoting the better use of effective products and newly released products. The objective of this article is to describe techniques for controlling nematodes in small ruminants, and it is aimed at technicians interested in increasing their knowledge about the mechanisms of resistance to antihelmintic agents as well as alternatives to the use of these products.

Trials were carried out in Juazeiro, Bahia State, Brazil, aiming to test plant regulators composed by gibberellin, cytokine and auxin effects on chemical quality of Superior Seedless grape berries. The first trial studied the effects of Stimulate (R) (bio regulator) and X-Cyte (R) (cytokine) associated to a new gibberellin formulation (N-Large (R)) and associated to Pro-Gibb (R), which is a product used as source of gibberellin. Products were sprayed at berries development phase (18, 21, 51 and 56 days after spur-pruning). Treatments were: T1: Pro-Gibb (R); T2: Stimulate (R) (Dose 1); T3: Stimulate (R) (Dose 2); T4: Stimulate (R) (Dose 3); T5: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (Low Dose - DB); T6: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (Intermediate Dose - DM); T7: Pro-Gibb (R) + X-Cyte (R) (High Dose - DA); T8: N-Large (R); T9: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T10: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T11: N-Large (R) + X-Cyte (R) (DA). The second trial aimed to assess the effect of the new gibberellin formulation (N-Large (R)) associated or not with cytokine (X-Cyte (R)) also sprayed straight over the bunches at berries development phase (17, 55 e 66 days after spur-pruning). Treatments were: T1: Pro-Gibb (R) - blank; T2: N-Large (R) (DB); T3: N-Large (R) (DM); T4: N-Large (R) (DA); T5: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T6: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T7: N-Large (R) (DB) + X-Cyte (R) (DA); T8: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T9: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T10: N-Large (R) (DM) + X-Cyte (R) (DA); T11: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DB); T12: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DM); T13: N-Large (R) (DA) + X-Cyte (R) (DA). Experimental design was random blocks with four repetitions with each repetition/parcel having three useful plants in the same row. At harvest, when bunches average had soluble solids over 15 degrees Brix, berries were collected for soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity analysis as well as (SS/AT) ratio calculation. In both trials, plant regulators evaluated did not provide significant changes on chemical quality of 'Superior Seedless' grape berries. Therefore, the lack of differences on response between the commercially used product (Pro-Gibb (R)) and the other products tested (Stimulate (R), X-Cyte (R) e N-Large (R)) prove the last as promising for the ` Superior Seedless' grape cultivation, leaving a larger range of alternative for grape farmers in the Sao Francisco Valley, Bahia.

Adequação curricular: alternativas de suporte pedagógico na Educação Inclusiva

The organization of the inclusive education is a slow and complex process, which has the necessity of investments in supports for all the scholar team. Aiming at spreading one of the actions carried out for the promotion of the inclusive educational practices in a municipal education system in a western city in the state of São Paulo, this paperwork has the objective of presenting an elaborated manual of orientations for the implementation of the individual curricular adaptations (ACIs) for students who demand special educational necessities (NEEs). The material was constituted on the basis of three data sets: 1) tabulation of the evaluations of the curricular adaptations already made; 2) the literature review; 3) analysis of the themes which have emerged during case discussion meetings mediated by the researchers with teachers from the Specialized Pedagogical Support Service (SAPE), with teachers and administrators from the common education system and the technical-pedagogical team. The final version of the manual contemplates the theoretical-operational aspects about the themes: flexibility and curricular adequation, inclusive education, definitions of NEEs, how SAPE works; and it finishes with a model proposal of ACI. It is expected that the spreading of this material can subside new curricular propositions for students with deficiency that are very distant from the academic level expected for the current scholar year.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of life (QL) of a group of menopausal women in the presence or absence of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It consists of a cross-sectional analytical study involving women from the School Health Center - Unity Village Farmers' and Town Railway on the city of Botucatu. Participants were divided into two related groups of studies: run HRT and do not realize. We used the SF 36 and QRS, and a questionnaire to characterize the study population. No differences were seen when comparing the groups with regard to age, age at menarche and menopause. It was observed that 92% were white women and who have studied up to primary education (p = 0.0209), and those who had a partner (p = 0.0055), were the most reported changes in QL. The most frequent comorbidities were hypertension and diabetes, which is significantly more important in women without HRT. The account of the lower of QL was expressed by 28% of the sample, and the population obtained in MRS score more negative (p, 0.05). The correlation of the eight components of the SF36 and the MRS, with the presence or absence of TRH showed no significant differences. The concept of quality of life and evaluation of it is subjective and individual. However they can notice changes in QL, evidenced by instruments. One can see that menopause is not necessarily accompanied by changes in QL, however, when expressed, tend to be perceived more negatively. Despite the lower level of social and low education and women interviewed have QL as good. There is a need for studies to improve a more real relationship between HRT and QL

Mecânica quântica e sua relação com terapias alternativas

Este trabalho propôs uma discussão crítica sobre os conceitos e fenômenos da Mecânica Quântica (MQ) empregados na explicação cientifíca que dá suporte quanto ao princípio de funcionamento de algumas terapias alternativas ou sobre a elaboração de seus respectivos medicamentos, em especial, Homeopatia e Cura Quântica. Essa discussão se faz importante para munir o leitor com argumentos sólidos calcados na teoria quântica e confrontá-los coma as ideias de simpatizantes leigos dessas terapias. Portanto, o trabalho visou descrever fatos históricos que tornaram possível a construção teórica da Mecânica Quântica, elaborou um resumo da loso a dominante que norteava o pensamento imediatamente anterior a MQ e o conflito que se seguiu em decorrência das implicações deste novo ramo da Física. Explorou o paradoxo EPR e o consequente teorema de John Bell sobre as desigualdades até chegar no experimento de Alain Aspect envolvendo laser para responder de forma prática e definitiva o paradoxo EPR. Finalmente, o trabalho apresentou um resumo das abordagens e argumentações defendidas pelos proponentes das terapias alternativas e confrontou com os conceitos da Mecânica Quântica, para enfim apresentar ao público um estudo científico sobre Homeopatia e Cura Quântica, e compreender os limites e equívocos empregados a essas terapias

O efeito protetor contra o dano muscular: alternativas às contrações excêntricas máximas

Já é bem estabelecido que, após a realização de exercícios aos quais não se está acostumado, principalmente se esses envolverem contrações excêntricas, ocorre um processo conhecido como dano muscular (DM). Esse processo consiste na desorganização e/ou rompimento de células musculares graças a elevados níveis de estresse mecânico e/ou metabólico. Esse processo pode ser identificado pela manifestação de sintomas clássicos como dor muscular, diminuição da amplitude de movimento, perda de força e extravasamento de proteínas intracelulares para a corrente sanguínea, entre outros. Sabe-se que, após a ocorrência do DM, o músculo acometido se recupera e passa a ser mais resistente a esse fenômeno, apresentando respostas atenuadas desses sintomas. Recentemente, diferentes estratégias de proteção contra o DM que não envolvem a realização de contrações excêntricas máximas vêm sendo apresentadas, como a realização de contrações excêntricas submáximas, contrações isométricas, treinamento de flexibilidade e aumento da temperatura muscular previamente ao exercício. O objetivo do presente estudo foi revisar essas estratégias de proteção contra o DM para melhor entender esse fenômeno. Foram realizadas pesquisas em importantes bases de dados e, os artigos encontrados que forem relevantes ao tema serão revisados e didaticamente explanados ao longo do trabalho

Priorização de alternativas para melhoria do transporte aéreo de passageiros no eixo Rio-SP

Este trabalho estuda uma aplicação de um Método Multicritério (AHP do inglês Analytic Hierarchy Process) para analisar os problemas do congestionamento do tráfego aéreo nos aeroportos brasileiros, focando-se na ponte São Paulo-Rio de Janeiro. Primeiramente com um estudo em grupo mediante comparação em pares e posteriormente mediante um estudo individual com ratings. Alternativas de subsistência da comunidade Caiçara/Quilombola do sertão da fazenda, no núcleo Picinguaba do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, Ubatuba-SP

As populações tradicionais têm sido valorizadas devido à importância do conhecimento popular associado à biodiversidade local e como forma de valorização do patrimônio cultural nacional. Nos últimos anos, as comunidades do litoral norte do Estado de São Paulo sofreram profundas mudanças na sua estrutura social e econômica, provocadas pela especulação imobiliária, modernização e expansão urbana, sobreposição de território com Unidade de Conservação (UC) e pelo turismo crescente. O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar as alternativas de subsistência da Comunidade Remanescente de Quilombo da Fazenda, localizada no interior do Núcleo Picinguaba do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, em Ubatuba-SP, e sua inter-relação com a UC, o turismo e a urbanização da região, principalmente no tocante à agricultura e à produção de farinha de mandioca. Para isso, durante o período de maio de 2008 a junho de 2009 foram realizadas entrevistas semi estruturadas com os chefes dos 35 domicílios habitados da comunidade, além de observação participante, pesquisa documentária e análises etnobotânicas. Foram inventariadas e categorizadas as plantas úteis cultivadas ou espontâneas nos quintais e roças. Os resultados indicam que a população mais jovem tem se fixado na comunidade e constituído novas famílias. Entre os eventos que possibilitam essa permanência estão a instalação de infraestrutura, como estradas de acesso e luz elétrica, que facilitou o acesso aos bens e serviços externos à comunidade; a política de compatibilidade entre UC e população tradicional e o sentimento de pertencimento ao território tradicional. A agricultura de subsistência é a principal atividade desenvolvida na comunidade, seguida pelos serviços turísticos de alta temporada e pelos serviços gerais. Análise de desempenho de lâmpadas LEDs e LFCs como alternativas em iluminação residencial em função da implementação da portaria ministerial n° 1007 que limita o uso de lâmpadas incandescentes no Brasil

With the imposition of the suspension of production and subsequent banning of incandescent light bulbs will be necessary to replace it by other more energy-efficient. Although the main alternative is the compact fluorescent lamp, the environmental impact caused by it due to incorrect disposal and the amount of harmonics included in the network resulting in losses related to the quality of electric power system makes them sought new alternatives for lighting systems that are efficient and have low environmental impact. In this context, the LED (Lighting Emitting Diode), based on solid-state components, is presented as an option for new projects and replacement of existing lighting. In this work we studied aspects of energy, environmental and economic impacts of a possible replacement of conventional lighting systems for new technology. From laboratory tests and surveys of the costs of different types of lamps used for residential lighting, we performed a comparative analysis considering energy and economic aspects which showed that the LED technology, but has a high initial investment, it is best when power quality and environmental preservation are relevant factors in decision making for the choice of technology to be used in the lighting system
