Adesão de Paracoccidioides brasiliensis e outros fungos anemófilos a teias de aranhas: implicações para a identificação de nichos microbianos no ambiente

The dimorphic pathogenic fungus, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis (Pb), is the etiological agent of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM), the most important systemic mycosis in Latin America. While the yeast phase can be isolated from patients affected by paracoccidioidomycosis, dogs and naturally infected armadillos; several elements related to the ecology of the saprophytic phase of the pathogen, which is responsible for the production of infective propagules, are poorly understood, hampering the adoption of preventive measures. The demonstration of the high incidence of Pb infection in the 9- banded armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus, has opened new perspectives for the identification of the pathogen’s habitat. At the opening of the armadillos’ burrows, spider webs are commonly found. The objective of this study was to evaluate the presence of Pb in spider webs samples related to the habitat of armadillos. Spider web samples were collected at Lageado Farm, Botucatu/SP and prepared for microscopic, molecular and mycological analyses. Microscopic analysis showed that different fungi were closely attached to spider web samples. Nested-PCR reaction showed positive amplification for Pb in 4 samples, with identity confirmed by amplicon sequencing. Fungal colonies also included members of Aspergillus, Blastobotrys, Penicillium, Candida, and Sporothrix genera, which are related to opportunistic disease and primary infections of great medical importance. In vitro adhesion tests of mycelia and yeast form of Pb to the spider webs were also performed, in order to analyze the possible physical attraction between fungal cells and the spider web protein network. The results showed a clear adherence of fungal particles to spider webs. In the current literature, there are no studies reporting adhesive properties of microorganisms to spider webs... Reanálise das defasagens de Prometeu e Pandora

In the present work it is proposed to do a revision on some studies on the dynamics of the Prometheus-Pandora system. In special, those studies that deal with anomalous behaviours observed on its components, identi ed as angular lags in these satellite`s orbits. Initially, it is presented a general description, contextualising the main characteristics of this system. The main publications related to this subject are analised and commented, in chronological order, showing the advances made in the knowledge of such dynamics. An analysis of the initial conditions, used by Goldreich e Rappaport (2003a ,b) e Cruz (2004), obtained through observations made by the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecrafts and by the Hubble space telescope, it is made in order to try to reproduce their results. However, no clear conclusion of the values used were found. The tests addopted in the analysis are from Cruz (2004), which reproduced the results and o ered a new explanation on the origin of the observed angular lags. The addopetd methodology involves the numerical integration of the equations of motion of the system, including the zonal harmonics J2, J4 and J6 of Saturn's gravitational potential. A fundamental consideration in this study is the use of geometric elements instead of osculating elements. It was found the set of initial data that best reproduces the results from Goldreich e Rappaport (2003a, b) and Cruz (2004)

Análise da estabilidade do movimento rotacional de satélites artificiais com quatérnions e sob a influência de torques externos

The aim of this work is to analyze the stability of the rotational motion’s artificial satellite using the Routh Hurwitz Algorithm (CRH) and the quaternions to describe the satellite’s attitude. This algorithm allows the investigation of the stability of the motion using the coefficients of the characteristic equation associated with the equation of the rotational motion in the linear form. The equations of the rotational motion are given by the four cinematic equations for the quaternion and the three equations of Euler for the spin velocity’s components. In the Euler equations are included the components of the gravity gradient torque (TGG) and the solar radiation torque (TRS). The TGG is generated by the difference of the Earth gravity force direction and intensity actuating on each satellite mass element and it depends on the mass distribution and the form of the satellite. The TRS is created by changing of the linear momentum, which happens due to the interactions of solar photons with the satellite surface. The equilibrium points are gotten by the equation of rotational motion and the CRH is applied in the linear form of these equations. Simulations are developed for small and medium satellites, but the gotten equilibrium points are not stable by CRH. However, when some of the eigenvalues of the characteristic equation are analyzed, it is found some equilibrium points which can be pointed out as stables for an interval of the time, due to small magnitude of the real part of these eigenvalue

Estudo comparativo do desempenho empresarial no Brasil e na China no período de 2005-2009: uma análise de empresas de capital aberto do setor de siderurgia

A teoria em finanças tem evoluído cada vez mais aproximando a teoria financeira às práticas reais adotadas nas empresas e nos mercados financeiros. A partir de Modigliani e Miller, que contribuíram para o ramo das finanças com a teoria da Irrelevância Financeira, o caminho se abriu para uma série de debates a cerca da importância das variáveis financeiras na determinação do valor da empresa. Foram levantados questionamentos a respeito da perfeição dos mercados e apresentado argumentos como a assimetria de informações, os custos de agência, a restrição financeira e outras implicações à teoria do investimento. Atualmente o que se sabe é que o fator investimento está altamente ligado às finanças e, portanto, relaciona-se com os meios de financiamento presentes no mercado e com a organização interna e financeira das firmas, esse ramo de estudo recebe o nome de Finanças Corporativas. Diante da teoria financeira, o objetivo é analisar a indústria siderúrgica de duas economias atualmente em destaque, Brasil e China através da análise econômico-financeira de quatro empresas de capital aberto do setor: Gerdau, Usiminas, Baosteel e Masteel. Cabe destacar que a indústria siderúrgica é base para outras indústrias, como construção civil, automóveis, máquinas, entre outros e, por isso, é tida como sinalizadora do desenvolvimento econômico de um país, assim também, o Brasil e a China são caracterizados como grandes potenciais emergentes e fontes de atração de investimentos internacionais

Dança: biologia e comunicação no processo de socialização humana

A importância da dança e das artes no geral para a espécie humana é evidenciada pela sua marcante presença em todas as sociedades, primitivas ou civilizadas, aparecendo na maioria de suas atividades.A dança faz parte do mundo da comunicação não verbal, expressando, transmitindo muitas informações e apresentando-se com diferentes significados, geralmente associados à comunicação e à interação entre indivíduos. Como movimento ordenado e rítmico,a dança pode ter por base nossas manifestações biológicas, podendo ser considerada como um evento inato e hereditário.Nesse contexto, apresentou-se uma revisão bibliográficaque trata da dança sob uma perspectiva biológica e evolutiva,caracterizando-a nos processos de comunicação e socialização humana. O panorama traçado baseou-se em diferentes áreas de estudo, tentando organizar as ideias e proposições de diferentes autores a respeito deste tema, ainda não tão discutido e nem tão difundido na literatura. Foram consultadas diferentes áreas, em especial a Etologia e a Psicologia Evolucionista, que fazem uma abordagem evolutiva de aspectos da natureza humana.Não foi possível encontrar na literatura uma definição única de dança que a contemplasse da maneira com a qual se gostaria de trabalhar nesta pesquisa.Por isso, foi proposta uma conceituação para as discussões posteriores, tratando a dança sob os seguintes aspectos: comportamento onipresente nos grupos humanos, desde tempos bastante remotos;comportamento significativo para os grupos que a apresentam, sob diferentes aspectos;comportamento que necessita de especialização e desenvolvimento cognitivo para sua realização; comportamento atrelado à sensação de prazer; comportamento que representa um processo de comunicação altamente complexo e especializado; comportamentoritmado, que possa ser tratado num complexo de musicalidade, que envolva a dança... Este trabalho tem como cidade escolhida a Estância Turística de Barra Bonita, município do centro-oeste paulista, conhecida pelo seu turismo às margens do Rio Tietê. Através dele pretende-se incluir uma nova atração turística na Orla do rio para atrair a atenção de um maior número de visitantes, assim como prolongar sua estadia no município. Será ela: o Memorial do Rio Tietê. Para a resolução do projeto foi trabalhado o conceito de turismo sustentável

Compostos fenólicos de 10 variedades de uva

Phenolic compounds represent one of the main groups of secondary metabolites. Due to their chemical diversity, they have a variety of functions in plants, such as protection against ultraviolet radiation, herbivores and pathogens, and attraction of pollinators or dispersers of fruits and seeds. For human, the phenolic compounds are used like food colorings and flavors and, due to their pharmacological properties, mainly to antioxidant activity, they are associated with several health benefits, such as delay senility, prevention and therapy of cardiovascular diseases and of some cancers. The grapes are considered one of the main source of phenolic compounds and the fruit and its products are consumed in Brazil and worldwide. Considering the phenolic compounds diversity and their different distribution in the grape parts, this work had like aims the extraction, identification and quantification of the main classes of phenolic compounds of 10 grape varieties. The content of total phenols, flavanols and anthocyanins were determined, respectively, according to the Folin-Ciocalteu, DMACA and comparison of pH spectrophotometric methods. The content of total phenols varied from 142.75 + 1.86 to 483.39 + 5.90 mg.L-1 in the peel and from 86.50 + 0.54 to 146.32 + 9.97 mg.L-1 in the pulp. The amount of total flavanols varied from 3.68 + 0.03 to 6.92 + 0.26 mg.L-1 in the peel and from 0.90 + 0.00 to 1.36 + 0.00 mg.L-1 in the pulp. The content of total anthocyanins varied from 7.00 + 0.99 to 406.56 + 39.50 mg.L-1 in the peel and from 2.88 + 0.28 to 46.36 + 1.89 mg.L-1 in the pulp. The phenolic compounds concentration was higher in the peel than in the pulp. The total phenols and anthocyanins varied a lot while the total flavanols were more constant. The flavanols represent the smaller portion of phenolic compounds

Conexão cultura: um projeto de revitalização e reestruturação da estação ferroviária de Guaratinguetá

This work presents an intervention at the Guaratinguetá Railway Station and its surroundings, including this area in the urban context, at this moment isolated of the activities and citizen attentions, offering new activities on this commercial area. The selected area finds itself in a state of neglect and forgetfulness from the urban relations. Located between the periphery of the commercial center and the Paraiba do Sul River, the correlation is tension between the advancement of shops, the railway line, and the natural barrier of the Paraiba River. On the context of these limits, the railroad and the river stand as barriers for the center expansion and the flows that connect the old part of the town with the new part, which is growing and is called “post-city river”. These barriers have relegating properties around them to isolation, despite being located in the center. The area choice and this intervention seeks to break this isolation and the barrier flow, linking areas of opposite sides to form a leak through the barrier of the railway line. The pedestrian flow is prioritized in the project, this flow will be attracted by the program offered and by the new created areas, increasing the space utilization by users and breaking the isolation of urban activities. And entering the area in the context of life of city residents. The attraction of these new flows will be through the implementation of a Cultural Center, supplying a lack of city by spaces that offer this type of activity. Its implementation aims to attract and modify the activities of these spaces and the surrounding areas, one side facing the commercial center, and another facing the river, linking this two sides at the same time that this link provides the expansion of distance traveled and known

For this, we made a historical analysis of the country, attributing importance in their geographic, economic, demographic, cultural and social. Singapore does not have a representative agricultural sector; its economy is based on manufacturing and the financial sector. The development of such activities was through strong planning policies and stringent regulatory institutions. Singapore economy has evolved from a trading post to a major financial center worldwide. Shows high rates of GDP per capita, which is $ 50,000 in 2011. This country has the world's busiest port for container handling. Thus, industries are based on activities with high added value and attraction of foreign companies was due to the stability of the country, which helped the growth of it

Estudo preliminar do potencial de alguns asteroides

A survey we conducted, and bring expressed in this text is a preliminary study on the shape of asteroids and allowed us to understand a little more the dynamics around these bodies, in order that the images we have of asteroids are the most irregular possible. In this work, the asteroid is modeled by the method of the polyhedron, which provides a very good accuracy of the irregular shape of the body. Through study of models for non-spherical gravitational potential bodies, implementation of computational algorithms and numerical simulations a preliminary analysis was performed in relation to the shape of asteroids 4179 Toutatis, 6489 Golevka, 2063 Bacchus, 1620 Geographos and 1998 ML14, as well as regions of stability instability, we compute the coefficients of the gravitational potential. The work not only enables expansion for the case of asteroids, but also for other non-spherical bodies, contributing to the development of targeted studies the origin and evolution of the solar system, and perhaps the origin of the earth, and new technologies for modeling and mapping of non-spherical bodies. The main results were obtained by analyzing the graphics format and planning of asteroids, which confirmed how these bodies are irregular and show how distribution of non-homogeneous mass. Observe the behavior of the curves of zero velocity and equipotential curves as well as their respective surfaces. Also, compute some values of the gravitational potential and the spherical harmonic coefficients of each object. Furthermore, we find possible equilibrium points of asteroids except 4179 Toutatis, and analyze its stability

Recently, some countries outside the Triad (Japan, Europe and the United States) have assumed an important role in the pharmaceutical scenario, as large producers, among them stand out Brazil. In the 90s, there were major institutional transformations and the pharmaceutical industry has undergone a reverse specialization process, because liberalization has discouraged production of pharmaceutical chemicals and dependence of imports increased. The law of generics medicines in 1999 emerged as an attempt to increase the population's access to medicines equivalent to ones with brand, with more affordable prices. As a result of this law there was a strengthening of the national capital and a major attraction for foreign companies to brazilian market. This study aims to assess the development trajectory of the country, showing how path-dependence has culminated in greater empowerment of national pharmaceutical industries after the Generics Law in 1999

This essay intends to think critically and theoretically on the interrelations among subject, identity, and Feminism in the context of Postmodernity, a context which will be herein denominated ―Age of Crises. These three aspects will be approached under a Historical perspective and put into question in a philosophical sight guided by Post-structuralistic theories, especially Derridian Deconstruction. In general, the main objective is to reach into a discussion about the undecidable inter-relation between Feminist thinking and Postmodernity, which is one of the configurations of the many contemporary crises. In order to do so, it will be necessary a previous discussion on the postmodern subject and its identity. This discussion will open up the possibility of contextualizing and discussing Feminism inside the intended objective. This discussion will be structured around the word ―crises which, in a compositional relation to the word ―age, will be taken as a synonym for ―Postmodernity and ―contemporary. ―Age of Crises, ―Postmodernity, ―contemporary, and ―Feminism will be words haunted by the phármakon phenomenon, a key aspect for Derridian Deconstruction, which will be the gravitational force that approximates and separates, in an undecidable relation, those signs.
