The article presents part of an evolutionary study regarding the ideas of children and adolescents on urban violence. The study included 40 subjects aged between 6 and 15; consisting of 10 subjects aged 6, 10 aged 9, 10 aged 12, and 10 aged 15. All subjects were enrolled in two public schools, one located in the interior of São Paulo’s State and the other in greater São Paulo. The subjects underwent three methodological procedures: a clinical interview, the drawing of a picture, and the analysis of a movie. In this paper we present data taken from the movie presentation, a silent cartoon which contained scenes of violence. The results indicate that subjects have difficulty in understanding the phenomenon of violence and its complexity. Subjects associated violence only with the most visible and concrete situations or conflicts, and they cannot identify the different types of violence contained in the drawings. The analysis and the theoretical references are based on the Piagetian perspective on the construction of social knowledge. Pedagogical implications based on evolutionary studies and the comprehension of the processes performed to the understanding of the social reality will be presented in this article, as well.

This essay aims to grasp the historical and contemporary issues related to the military personnel who were persecuted, their struggles and motivations over the period 1946-1988. Advocates as hypothesis that its political intervention is a legitimate expression of a presence in the defense of democracy in Brazil. But not only: the militant intervention of this group for national causes also refers to a diagnosis, which represents a challenge to many working groups of the Comissão Nacional da Verdade, especially when taking into account the number of military personnel persecuted or the selective specifi city of the repression that fell on them.

The subjects underwent three methodological procedures: a clinical interview, the drawing of a picture, and the analysis of a movie. In this paper, we present the data obtained from the application of the clinical interview, specifically those concerning the main theme: “definition of violence.” The results indicate that most subjects have difficulties in understanding and defining the phenomenon of violence and its complexity. They tend to associate it only to the most visible and concrete situations or conflicts, focusing on a basic level of understanding of the social reality. The analysis and the theoretical references are based on the Piagetian perspective about the construction of social knowledge. Pedagogical implications based on the evolutionary psychogenic studies as well as the understanding of the processes covered for the understanding of social reality are also presented in the article.

China is now facing a sudden change of redistribution of population in space as her urban population exceeds rural population. It seems necessary to learn others’ lessons by analyzing the urbanization of other developing countries, especially Brazil’s. To an extent, Brazil and some other developing countries have been unsuccessful in coordination for urbanization and improving living quality. The megacities in Latin America are the examples of swollen cities, and large groups excluded from the system of public services. It reflects in both short of infrastructures in many areas and high-levels of violence unique in the big cities in Latin America. Then the author summarizes Brazil’s lessons. Firstly, he describes the determinants in Brazil’s urbanization, especially the industrialization between 1930 and 1980. Secondly, the incentives for internal migration are analyzed, especially the industrial centralization in the southeast and the recessions in other areas. Finally, the characteristics of the present round of absorption of labor and the roots for the severe social inequality are discussed.

Even though we have an advanced protective legislation regarding children, the maltreatment perpetrated against them is still considered a public health problem in our country, with significant rates in the 0 to 6 years old range. This practice results in serious damages to the development of the assaulted individual: mental health, social adaptation and integration, and even repetition of the learned model. The school, although required (art. 245, ECA) to denounce and notify suspected and/or proven cases of violence to the eligible public agencies, has a very low percentage of participation in these notifications. Therefore, the objective of this study was to map the conception, placement and forwarding done by kindergarten professional about suspected and/or proven cases of maltreatment in their students to determine how such phenomenon is known, recognized, (re)constructed and (re)produced in social relations. The surveyed institutions were five kindergarten public schools, located in a mid-size city in the state of São Paulo. The adopted methodological procedures were the collection and analysis of quantitative-qualitative data, based on the anthropological research method on urban social groups. To collect the data, we used the following instruments: the questionnaire (38) and the interviews (6), applied in the period of October/2009 to May/2010. The analysis of the obtained data indicated some factors that hinder an effective positioning in fighting violence: professionals report the presence of suspected maltreatment (45%), however, the allegations are not investigated; the lack of knowledge and/or distorted concepts about the legislation, and also indicators of the presence of maltreatment, of its negative consequences to the development of the child, the false belief in the sanctity of the family and that maltreatment only occurs in the ghetto, in the lower classes... The objective of this study is to perform a theoretical study of the possible relationship between mathematics and art. For some people, the association between these fields of knowledge may simply seem absurd, possibly because they do not know what is in common between an area considered rigorous, rational, objective, and a more emotional, intuitive, subjective. In this context, interdisciplinarity has an important role, in proposing the contextual integration between the subject content, such as projective geometry and the renaissance. Are also presented as examples of this union, the technique of Moses and the geometric patterns of indigenous crafts, as well as the work of artist Maurits Cornelis Escher, a legitimate representative of the relationship between art and mathematics

This work of completion is inserted at the interface between violence and school, and how you want to portray violence in school is represented in film productions. We consider important to first discuss in depth the concepts of violence to better understand the phenomenon of school violence, which is a subject much discussed in recent times. One of the types of violence very often nowadays, taking forms that we can call as new, in primary education schools, as well as in society in general, is known as bullying, for some authors the concept is very close to the definition of prejudice in with respect to social factors that reflect the target groups of this type of violence. Other authors also research on the expansion of the recent phenomenon known as School Shooting, which means school shootings, very common in American schools. Our study builds on ideas Debarbieux and Blaya (2002) that treat violence more broadly, taking into account the reports of the victims, including symbolic violence, the institutional and physical. For them, every concept must take into consideration how it was socially constructed, to thereafter be searched. Our goal is to analyze and understand how the issue of school violence is treated theoretically and also as is portrayed through the lens of cinema. Our study is theoretically based on authors like Debarbieux, Blaya, Bourdieu, Charlot, Arendt, Foucault, Sposito, among others, and use the qualitative approach, working with content analysis of films
