Objetivando desmascarar a postura autoritária que se esconde sob a capa de obras aparentemente libertárias, foram analisadas algumas obras de literatura infantil produzidas nas décadas de 70 e 80, ainda em circulação nas escolas, por meio do aparato da semiótica de origem greimasiana. A análise recaiu sobre os mecanismos de debreagem e de embreagem, por meio dos quais se verificam as relações entre enunciador e enunciatário, o que permitiu constatar que a nova literatura infantil, surgida nos anos 70, embora se posicione explicitamente contra os valores coercitivos da literatura infantil tradicional, esconde, sob a aparência renovadora, uma estrutura igualmente autoritária. O artigo procura analisar a relação que há entre padrões de mobilidade social e o processo de entrada de imigrantes e de seus descendentes de primeira geração na atividade política institucional na região conhecida como o oeste paulista. Tal processo pode se constituir num indicador das relações de resistência ou de aproximação entre os imigrantes e as elites locais tradicionais, além de ser elemento chave para se compreender o processo de superação do sistema coronelista no estado de São Paulo, a ascensão de uma nova fração burguesa e o advento do populismo.

The present invention relates to compounds derived from taurine with non-steroidal anti inflammatory activity. In a first embodiment, the present invention relates to compounds derived from taurine, in which taurine is bound directly by means of an amide bond or through an spacing group, to a compound selected from the group of non-steroidal anti inflammatory compounds, cited as derived from taurine presenting the Formula (I): in which R means the component with non-steroidal anti inflammatory activity. In a second embodiment, the invention provides a process for obtaining the compounds of Formula (I) by reaction of taurine with a compound belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAIs), in order to obtain a compound derived from taurine by direct bond or through a spacing group of the taurine to the NSAI. The invention also relates to the pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one compound derived from taurine presenting non-steroidal anti inflammatory activity.

Temporary B deficiency can be triggered by liming of acid soils because of increased B adsorption at higher soil pH. Plants respond directly to the activity of B in soil solution and only indirectly to B adsorbed on soil constituents. Because the range between deficient and toxic B concentration is relatively narrow, this poses difficulty in maintaining appropriate B levels in soil solution. Thus, knowledge of the chemical behavior of B in the soil is particularly important. The present study investigated the effect of soil pH on B adsorption in four soils of Parana State, and to correlate these values with the physical and chemical properties of the soils. Surface samples were taken from a Rhodic Hapludox, Arenic Hapludalf, Arenic Hapludult, and one Typic Usthorthent. To evaluate the effect of pH on B adsorption, subsamples soil received the application of increasing rates of calcium carbonate. Boron adsorption was accomplished by shaking 2.0 g soil, for 24 h, with 20 mL of 0.01 mol L-1 NaCl solution containing different concentrations (0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0, and 4.0 mg B L-1). Sorption was fitted to non-linear form of the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Boron adsorption increased as concentration increased. Boron adsorption was dependent on soil pH, increasing as a function of pH in the range between 4.6 and 7.4, although the bonding energy has decreased. Maximum adsorption capacity (MAC) of B was observed in the Arenic Hapludalf (49.8 mg B kg(-1) soil) followed by Arenic Hapludult (22.5 mg kg(-1)), Rhodic Hapludox (17.4 mg kg(-1)), and Typic Usthorthent (7.0 mg kg(-1)). The organic matter content, clay content, and aluminum oxide content (Al2O3) were the soils properties that affecting the B adsorption on Parana soils.

We investigated the effects of swimming training (ST) on femoral mechanical and structural properties in ovariectomized female rats. Female Wistar rats [age = 20 weeks; body weight (BW) = 271,42 +/- 17,6 g] were subjected to ovariectomy (OVX) or laparotomy (SHAM) and allocated to one of the following groups: swimming OVX (SO, n=12), control OVX (CO, n=12), swimming SHAM (SS, n=12) and control SHAM (CS, n=12). Fifteen days after surgery SO and SS groups were subjected to a ST (60 min/day, 5 days/week, overload of 3% of BW) for 10 weeks. Alkalin phosfatase was reduced in OVX as compared to SHAM (18,87 pg/mL vs. 53,93 pg/mL, respectively), but not altered by ST. Animals SHAM showed more cancellous bone than OVX (255,50 +/- 38,27 vs 288,75 +/- 39,63 points, respectively). Exercised animals exhibited more cancellous bone than controls (292,00 +/- 33,54 vs 251,54 +/- 38,99 points, respectively) in this region and in the grater trochanter (281,50 +/- 34,42 vs 237,23 +/- 53,03 points; respectively). Bone mineral density and cortical bone in the femur midshaft were not altered either by OVX or ST. The maximum force and thoughness of the femoral neck and midshaft were not affected either by OVX or ST. It was concluded that ST benefits cancellous bone mass in the femoral proximal region (i.e. femoral neck and greater trochanter), independently of ovariectomy, which did not reflect in improved mechanical properties either in the femoral neck or midshaft.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate treatment of Brazilian patients with gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD).STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study with analysis of medical reports performed in 10 Brazilian referral centers from January 2000 to December 2011.RESULTS: Of 5,250 patients 3 died (0.06%) at the time of uterine evacuation. Spontaneous remission of GTD (group G1) was observed in 4,103 cases, and 1,144 (21.8%) progressed to gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) (G2). In G1 2,716 (66.2%) had complete hydatidiform mole (HM) and 1,210, partial HM (29.5%); 3,772 patients (92.7%) recovered as noted in December 2012. In G2, of 1,118 patients treated, initial histopathological results of previous gestation were complete HM (77.5% [n = 886]), partial HM (8.8% [n = 100]), and choriocarcinoma (8.0% [n = 92]); 930 (81.3%) were low-risk, 200 (17.5%) were high-risk GTN, and 14 had placental site trophoblastic tumor (PSTT) (1.2%); cure was achieved in 1,078 cases (96.4%), but 26 patients (2.3%) died (4 low-risk [0.4%], 19 high-risk [9.5%], and 3 PSTT [21.4%]).CONCLUSION: The highest death rates were due to high-risk GTN and PSTT. Patients with molar pregnancy should be referred to a referral center for an early diagnosis and prompt treatment of GTN in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality found in advanced stages.

Background: Late-onset sepsis (LOS) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants.Aim: To determine the incidence, risk factors and etiology of LOS.Methods: LOS was investigated in a multicenter prospective cohort of infants at eight public university neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Inclusion criteria included inborn, 23-33 weeks of gestational age, 400-1499 g birth weight, who survived >3 days.Results: Of 1507 infants, 357 (24%) had proven LOS and 345 (23%) had clinical LOS. Infants with LOS were more likely to die. The majority of infections (76%) were caused by Gram-positive organisms. Independent risk factors for proven LOS were use of central venous catheter and mechanical ventilation, age at the first feeding and number of days on parenteral nutrition and on mechanical ventilation.Conclusion: LOS incidence and mortality are high in Brazilian VLBW infants. Most risk factors are associated with routine practices at NICU.
