Como se estivesse tecendo num antigo tear manual, a linha narrativa de El retorno de Eva, da escritora paraguaia Susana Gertopan, vai compondo, com os fios da tradição e da modernidade, memória e história, exílio e retorno, a trajetória de uma jovem mulher em busca de si na condição de cidadã paraguaia e judia. Enquanto a protagonista busca desfazer-se dos diversos nós que a vinculam a uma herança cultural e religiosa que não combina, como ela mesma diz, com o cenário no qual cresce, e nem com a vida moderna de Jerusalém, terra prometida dos seus antepassados para onde emigra, vamos observando a problemática tessitura de sua individualidade entre dois mundos, ambos em crise e transição.

Magnetic fields can be produced by natural magnets, artificial magnets, and by circulating electric currents in wires and solenoids. An interesting experiment to observe the interaction between the magnetic field and free charges in a conductor, a magnet falling inside a tube made of conductive materials. The slowing down of the magnet by the appearance of a field in the opposite direction to the original one (Lenz's Law) is function the number of free electrons in the conductor and the electrical properties of this. Based on this, the objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between the electrical properties of conductors, copper and aluminum, with magnetic force on a neodymium magnet-iron-boron magnet falling inside a copper tube and aluminum, positioned vertically. In performing this experiment, we observed that it is a demonstration of Lenz-Faraday’s Law

The brachytherapy braquiterapia is an x-ray modality radiotherapy in which stamped or halfstamped radioactive sources in format of seeds are used, wires or to one short distance, in contact or implanted to the fabric to be treated. All the treatment modalities require a previous planning. The formalism recommended for calculation of dose was considered by the AAPM for the first TG-43 Report. In it distributions of dose of isolated seeds measured and calculated by Monte Carlo method in water instead of with models half-empiricists. In this work we in accordance with present some preliminary results of the calculation of functions of radial anisotropy and of dose in the distance for seed of 192Ir, wide used in brachytherapy treatments of high tax of dose (HDR), with the aid of the program based on the Monte Carlo method MCNPX v2.50 (Mount Carlo N ParticleeXtended). The materials chosen in the simulation beyond water, had been MS20 and estriado muscle

In this paper we study the process of manufacture of wire drawn steel bars 9254, from rolled wire rod. These bars are used in the automotive industry for the manufacture of coil springs, which make up the system damping of several vehicles. The wire drawing process consists of the steps of pre-straightening, shot peening, drawing, cutting and polishing. The study aims to search for the configuration of process variables, which present the best result with respect to bending. To this were maintained settings prestraightening and mechanical stripping and varied angles and stringer polish being studied to replace the spinneret with a working angle, for a string with two working angles. To assist in the analysis of the results was the tool used DOE Software Minitab, which assesses the variation in results according to each parameter and the interaction parameters. It was thus possible to determine the best condition for wire drawing

Through this feature, communication process can become much more efficient, allowing people to access information much more quickly wherever they are. The constant evolution of communication technologies allows the development of new unthinkable applications and services. With the increasing demand for electricity, the retraining of transmission lines is necessary despite environmental restrictions and crossings in densely populated areas to build new transmission and distribution lines. Solution is reuse the existent cables, replacing the old conductor cables for new cables with higher capacity power transmission, and control of sag installed. The increasing demand for electrical power has increased the electric current on the wires and therefore, it must bear out temperatures of 150°C or more, without the risk of the increasing sag beyond the established limits. In the case of long crossings or densely populated areas, sag is due to high weight of the cable on clearance. The cable type determines the weight, sag, height and the towers dimensions, which are the items that most influence the investment of the transmission line. Hence, to reduce both cost of investment and maintenance of the line, the use of a lighter cable can reduce both number and the height of the towers, with financial return on short and long term. Therefore, in order to increase the amount of transmitted energy and reduce the number of built towers and sag, is recommended in the current work substitute the current core material (steel or aluminium) for alternatives alloys or new materials, in this case a composite, which has low density, elevated stiffness (elasticity module), thus apply the pultruded carbon fiber with epoxy resin as matrix systems and perform the study of the kinetics of degradation by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), according to their respective standards

Therebar of aluminum 1350 AA produced by CBA are used inthe manufacture of wires and cables for electric power transmission, which marketshows increasingly favorableto aluminum due to itslow densityand high electrical conductivity, but to ensure that this materialmeets all specifications of projectsfor electricity transmission, it must have homogeneity in the chemicaland mechanicalproperties.One of the points of improvement in the process of rod production isreducing the high variation of the limitof tensile strengthalong the coils, therefore, this work seeks a better understanding of the factors that significantly influence the mechanical properties of rebar, specifically assessing the influence oftemperatureat the output of the coils, which can cause a recovery effect on the material andif thereare relevantdifferences between the two modes of rebar production: auto and manual.Samples of six coils have been specifically produced forthis study, which weresubsequently subjected to different annealing temperatures for one hour and ten minutes, similar to what occurs in the output of the coil from the machine. The tensile tests showed that aluminum 1350 AA is significantly influenced by temperature, whose behavior was very similar to that presented in the literature. It was found that the phenomenon of recovery occurred more significantly at high temperatures. Through the optical electron microscope Zeiss, 18 surface maps were made with 100x magnification for each sample in different conditions and the images were analyzed using entropy and fractal dimension, aiming to relate the condition of surface hardening on mechanical property of the samples in that condition. The results showed that these methods can be applied, provided they do not have any kind of imperfection on the surface, once they can influence the results. A proliferação dos vocábulos que se cruzam em novas combinações dão origem aos fios cambiantes que se dobram, redobram e desdobram-se no tecido da linguagem que objetivamos desfiar neste trabalho.

Several alloys present the shape memory effect and among them, the equiatomic NiTi alloy, nitinol, is the most important one. It is usually used in several engineering applications and also in biomedical devices, in the fabrication of orthodontic wire, stents and Judet staples. Although a considerable amount of these biomedical devices is utilized in Brazil and a fraction of it is already made here, all nitinol used is bought abroad. Thus, it is important to develop the necessary know-how to fabricate NiTi wire and sheet. It would mean less importation with job creation and wealth generation for the country. In this work nitinol was obtained powder metallurgy from elemental powders of Ti and Ni using uniaxial compression and uniaxial compression followed by isostatic compression. The final densities achieved were determined by the Archimedes method. The precipitation of intermetallic secondary phases was studied and the samples were characterized by metallographic analysis, optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Results indicated that 50 hours sintering route showed a low amount of intermetallics, and no trace of unreacted powder. XRD and metallography at room temperature indicated B19’ as the predominant phase, which corresponds to martensite. Although density results showed little dispersion, the most dense sample was compacted under uniaxial compression and presented 4.8 g/cm3, corresponding to 20.84% porosity. Aproximadamente 20 a 22 % das fraturas em felinos são pélvicas e quase metade destas são em ilío, que muitas vezes estão associadas a outras lesões pélvicas ósseas e a tecidos moles. A indicação cirúrgica para o tratamento destas lesões depende do grau de instabilidade, de perda da continuidade óssea, colapso do canal pélvico, fraturas acetabulares, envolvimento de estruturas do eixo de sustentação de peso do animal, lesão nervosa e dor intratável mesmo com uso de analgésicos. O objetivo desta revisão sistemática foi comparar o uso de quatro métodos diferentes para a osteossíntese de ílio em gatos, sendo estes: as placas laterais, placas dorsais, placas em T e, parafusos, fios de Kirschner, fios de aço e polimetilmetacrilato usados em conjunto, em relação às implicações e complicações do uso de cada uma das técnicas. Foram utilizados artigos científicos retrospectivos e prospectivos publicados nas bases de dados informatizados PUBMED, Scielo, Periódico Capes e Google Schoolar que abordassem diferentes técnicas para a osteossíntese de ílio em gatos e foi realizada a análise e comparação de seus dados. Quatro artigos foram selecionados por serem adequados para abordar o tema indicado, todos redigidos em língua inglesa, porém, um sendo de origem francesa e três de origem britânica, cada artigo relatando um tipo diferente de método utilizado. A discussão e a conclusão se deram com base nestes artigos. Nenhuma das técnicas pode ser considerada perfeitamente adequada para qualquer osteossíntese de ílio. Cada uma das quatro possui prós e contras e tem demonstrado melhor eficácia para um tipo específico de fratura ilíaca em gatos, cabendo ao cirurgião veterinário reconhecer e selecionar a melhor a ser utilizada em cada situação

A guinea pig was presented with left pelvic limb lameness after unknown trauma. Radiographs revealed complete oblique diaphyseal fracture of the distal third of the left tibia and fibula. The guinea pig was treated surgically with an intramedullary pin. The day after surgery the guinea pig was using the limb comfortably (grade 1/5 lameness). Callus formation was obtained 21 days after surgery without complications.

The effect in the gingival tissue of four distinctive types of relationships between the major conector and the gingival margin was investigated in eight subjects in association with the experimental gingivitis model. The subjects wore appliances constructed in acrylic resin (retained by means of embrasure hooks) throughout the day an night, except during meals. After the appliances had been placed, the subjects were abstained from any oral hygiene for twenty-one days. Records of the Plaque Index, Gingival Index and probing deplh were taken at baseline and at each week. Data showed that there was a small increase in the Plaque Index and Gingival Index for the four areas and that the degree of inflammation of the covered areas was higher in the area without relief
