The objective of the present article is to identify and discuss the possibilities of using qualitative data analysis software in the framework of procedures proposed by SDI (socio-discursive interactionism), emphasizing free distribuited software or free versions of commercial software. A literature review of software for qualitative data analysis in the area of social sciences and humanities, focusing on language studies is presented. Some tools, such as: Wef-tQDA, MLCT, Yoshikoder and Tropes are examined with their respective features and functions. The software called Tropes is examined in more detail because of its particular relation with language and semantic analysis, as well as its embeded classification of linguistic elements such as, types of verbs, adjectives, modalizations, etc. Although trying to completely automate an SDI based analysis is not feasible, the programs appear to be powerful helpers in analyzing specific questions. Still, it seems important to be familiar with software options and use different applications in order to obtain a more diversified vision of the data. It is up to the researcher to be critical of the analysis provided by the machine.

Characterization by micro-Raman spectroscopy of polymeric materials used as nuclear track detectors reveals physico-chemical and morphological information on the material's molecular structure. In this work, the nuclear track detector poly(allyl diglycol carbonate), or Columbia Resin 39 (CR-39), was characterized according to the fluence of alpha particles produced by a 226Ra source and chemical etching time. Therefore, damage of the CR-39 chemical structure due to the alpha-particle interaction with the detector was analyzed at the molecular level. It was observed that the ionization and molecular excitation of the CR-39 after the irradiation process entail cleavage of chemical bonds and formation of latent track. In addition, after the chemical etching, there is also loss of polymer structure, leading to the decrease of the group density C-O-C (∼888 cm-1), CH=CH (∼960 cm -1), C-O (∼1110 cm-1), C-O-C (∼1240 cm -1), C-O (∼1290 cm-1), C-O (∼1741 cm -1), -CH2- (∼2910 cm-1), and the main band -CH2- (∼2950 cm-1). The analyses performed after irradiation and chemical etching led to a better understanding of the CR-39 molecular structure and better comprehension of the process of the formation of the track, which is related to chemical etching kinetics. Dance activities were administered to a group of deaf adolescents via visual and auditory stimuli in order to improve their perceptions of monotonic rhythmic structures. Status of psychomotor development was also assessed before and after participation in the program. Twenty deaf adolescents (ages between 12 and 13 years) were divided into two groups, experimental (EG) and control (CG). Before and after participating in the program for 26 weeks, participants were evaluated in rhythmical tasks adapted from the classical test of M. Stambak. The tasks included the perception of drum beats, actually viewed hit movements, or heard via a sound amplifier. Psychomotor tests were administered only to the EG. The period of practice with dance activities changed the individuals' performance in the monotonic rhythmic test. Also, the success rate improved in both, visual and auditory input tasks. Individuals in the CG showed no changes in performance. For the EG, in the post-test, the status of psychomotor development was six months below the target age of the tests (i.e., 11 years). Findings suggested that dance activities can change deaf individuals' auditory perception of rhythmic structures. Participation in such a program can also positively affect psychomotor development. © FTCD/FIP-MOC.
