Análise da queda de granizo em Guarulhos-SP e seus impactos socioeconômicos

The climate and weather have direct implications on society, are factors that can to regulate or restrict human occupation in a determined space. In this way, studies of climate and weather are justified to be extremely necessary for urban planning and economic activities, especially agriculture. The precipitation of hail, which enters in the classification of severe storm, causes large, direct and indirect impacts on society, mainly when it occurs in urban areas. This work aims to study the precipitation of hail, explain what is a severe storms and how hail is formed in clouds, making use of a literature review in geography and also in weather sciences. It is also an aim of this work analyze the genesis, evolution and dissipation of a specific case of precipitation of hail occurred in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, especially in Guarulhos, on 21st of September 21 of 2010, through the use of GOES-12’ satellite’s images and the use of São Roque’s weather radar. And in this way, show the potential impact of hail storms in society and contribute to a greater preparedness of the population, urban planners associations and emergency management, such as municipalities, the civil defense and fireman

Análise de ocorrências dos impactos pluviais na área urbana de Rio Claro (SP)

The Urbanization is a notable process in our society, being part of it since around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia, currently Iraq area. Since the Industrial Revolution, cities had a significant increase in their growth and began to concentrate increasingly labor and capital. Brazil, despite having had a late industrialization, also had a high population growth in cities, especially in the XVIII century, which were not provided with any kind of planning that targets the ordering and implementation of the urban essential apparatus. Therefore, Brazilian cities started to exhibit countless structural and environmental problems. Associated with inadequate infrastructure, the modifications in the urban atmosphere, like increased heat, air pollution and increased rainfall and storm frequency, cause different types of impacts in cities. Among the most worrisome are those from the intense rain, which cause human and material damage. The city of Rio Claro (SP) can be considered an example of this reality. Thereby, the objective of this study was to analyze the impacts on the population originated from rainfall in the urban area during the period 2005-2010, by the mapping of events and analysis of the active atmospheric systems. The information of the events were collected in the Fire Department and the Press and the synoptic maps were obtained in the library of INPE, in Cachoeira Paulista (SP) and in the site of the Navy of Brazil. The data showed that among 247 occurrences, during the six years, 233 occurred in the spring-summer period. Moreover, after finalizing the maps, it was found the locations considered critical regarding the frequency of occurrences, as: Visconde do Rio Claro Avenue and central area of the city, both with a total of 23 occurrences; Jardim Inocoop, with 20; Tancredo Neves Avenue, with 12 and Vila Paulista, with 10 occurrences. Cidadão em sintonia participativa: uma perspectiva para as Relações Públicas

In contemporary times, to which the media is centralized in the hands of a few, it is necessary to understand and discuss its democratization. In this situation it surges a theory that is still maturing, Communication Public, which reflects the communication by the optic of citizen participation. In this sense, the research has as objective the reflection about democracy, the centrality and conglomeration media in society and what is affecting public broadcast organizations. So has too the intention to defend the performance of professional public relations in this context, due to its humanistic and strategic characteristic. Through literature review, observation of programming of Radio FM UNESP Bauru and interviews with employees, it is perceived that the vehicle radio for its intrinsic characteristics has great potential democratization, when this character in public can promote citizenship. There was also observed the demand for professional public relations, assisting the organization to recognize themselves as a social institution, defining its mission, its goals, its vision and policies, with objective to make two-way symmetrical communication to the public

Climatologia de tempestades na área central do Estado de São Paulo usando radar meteorológico

A climatological characterization of storm properties during two summer seasons, viz. 1998-1999 and 1999-2000, based on observations from the Bauru S-band Doppler radar, was obtained from the TITAN Software of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (Boulder, Co), implemented at IPMet. Parameters, such as mean volume, mean area, mean and maximum echo tops, mean and maximum reflectivity, as well as speed and direction of precipitating systems were determined using the reflectivity >25, 30 and 40 dBZ and a volume >30 km3 as thresholds for storm identification. For the first time, the spatial distributions of these parameters were determined in the central State of São Paulo, based on radar observations. It was found that some preferential areas, where most of the convective activity was concentrated during the study period, were located along the Tietê River. The mean maximum reflectivity field has highlighted preferential regions for convection to develop over the metropolitan area of Campinas, which in turn was reinforced by the distribution of the echo tops and reflectivity >40 dBZ.
