Novos arranjos e velhos dilemas na democratização das políticas sociais: os Conselhos de políticas públicas e a experiência de Araraquara

Cristhiane Falchetti trata nesta obra, especificamente, dos Conselhos Gestores de Políticas Públicas, que representariam uma novidade institucional na relação entre estado e sociedade e uma forma de democratizar as decisões sobre políticas públicas e assegurar os direitos de cidadania. A autora parte do contexto do processo de transformações por que passaram as sociedades no final do século XX, o qual tornou a democracia um valor universal, amparado no modelo liberal. No entanto, o modelo liberal democrático tem sido questionado por se mostrar incapaz de absorver demandas sociais cada vez mais abrangentes e diferenciadas. É no interior desta contradição que Falchetti conduz seu trabalho. Araraquara, cidade paulista rica e próspera, mas com resistentes traços de coronelismo em sua cultura política, foi o campo escolhido pela autora para verificar, na prática, em que medida a participação popular se efetiva por meio dos novos canais e influencia o processo de formulação e implantação de políticas públicas. As conclusões, porém, não são muito animadoras. Para Falchetti a participação existe, mas se dá ainda de maneira bastante imperfeita e insatisfatória do ponto de vista da democracia.

Profissionais mediadores da informação: experiências didático pedagógicas em dois cursos de biblioteconomia brasileiros

The context political, social and economical determines the material conditions of the individual's cultural formation and it influences in the constitution of the critical conscience and social responsibility. The aim of this paper is to describe the didactic experiences from discussions in classroom with students in disciplines dedicated to information access in the Brazilian librarianship courses from São Paulo State University (Unesp), state of São Paulo, and Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), state of Alagoas, precisely: Information Dissemination, supplied in 2007 and 2010, and Information Dissemination and Sources, supplied in 2008 and 2009, besides Library and Cultural Action, accomplished of 2008 to 2009. It was noticed, starting from the experience in classroom, that the Librarianship students have low knowledge of the institutions librarians and their services; they told that not to know the main library services before they study them referred disciplines.

O papel da mediação da informação nas universidades

The information process should be understood as essential to the success of any institution, mainly those that produce knowledge. Information mediation being part of this process must be understood as an action capable of directing the knowledge construction of individuals. The information mediation in universities is a way of mediating the knowledge generated within and outside the university environment, including its specialized audience and to society. Thus the concept of information mediation is discussed in this work and its role within universities and the role of information professionals as information mediators. The social responsibility of universities needs to be reaffirmed into the society and the information is a possible way for the success of this action.

As organizações e a ISO 26000: revisão dos conceitos, dos motivadores e das barreiras de implementação

ISO 26000, published in 2010, focuses on corporate social responsibility. This study presents a systematic review conducted in ISI Web of Knowledge (Web of Science) and Elsevier's Scopus databases to answer the following question: What are the barriers and motivators affecting the adoption of ISO 26000 by organizations? The articles were selected using filters that applied two inclusion criteria. The data were summarized in a table covering the concepts of ISO 26000, the motivators, and the barriers. The motivators were globalization or competition in international markets, congruence with management systems, reputation or image, relationship with employees and improvement of the organizational environment, improvement in the relationship with external stakeholders, competitive advantage and strategy, guide to corporate social responsibility (CSR), and reduction of business risks. The barriers were lack of alignment between CSR and organizational strategy; business (national and international); unfamiliarity with ISO 26000; lack of communication, tools and sensitivity to the subject; short-term focus; knowledge management; fear of not fulfilling the standard; and financial resources. Finally, an agenda for future studies was prepared.

Diagnóstico socioambiental de um alojamento estudantil público e da comunidade do entorno: um estudo da relação entre a universidade e a sociedade

Dormitories are places offered by Brazilian public Universities to undergraduate students evaluated as socio-economically less favored aiming to guarantee the housing of the student in the locality they take a given undergraduate course, once housing is one the points which compose the tripod that supports the concept of student permanence, along with conditions of transportations and food. These places, however, present problems in their management, specially the ones related to social and environmental questions, caused by wrong attitudes and pre-concepts of their own residents, other students and the communities who live around them. So, this project aims to identify and analyze the socio-environmental conditions of a students’ dormitory located in Botucatu/SP which is supported by the Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (Unesp) as well as the community that surrounds it. The data collecting is based on an exploratory research characterized for interviews that used semi-structured questionnaires and for the creation of a photography record of the region. The obtained data corroborated the tendency of an increasing gap between the Brazilian public universities and the society as well as to the disengagement of them and their students. This diagnosis has permitted to build proposals of educational interventions based on Permaculture, Agroecology and Critical Environmental Education to the improvement of the existing relationships among the students who live at the dormitory and among them and the local community. These interventions may be used as subsidies to the development of future research and extension projects to the local community

As Políticas Públicas para a promoção da igualdade racial no contexto de Presidente Prudente

This work aims at presenting the historical and social path traversed in Brazil since slavery until the implementation of affirmative public policies to promote racial equality, at the local level, in the municipality of Presidente Prudente-SP. Therefore, the starting point was the equal rights guaranteed by the Constitution. As a result, there was a brief historical path of national trajectory, starting from slavery to the so-called cordial racism, seeking to demonstrate the route of racial discrimination in the country. Later, we made notes about the necessity and debate on public policy statements of various fields, were made explicit in the text and the articles of the Constitution which prescribe the crime of racism and some of the situations that were highlighted in the national media. The focus in the city of Presidente Prudente was through historical research, interviews, photographic records and documents that informed about the presence of black people in the city. From these data, based on previous research, it was possible to trace the formation and development of the Black Movement in the city and thus point the way to the formation of this City Council for Racial Equality and the need for application of affirmative action policies for the municipality by hereby. Data from the 2000 Census and 2010 indicate the demand of Presidente Prudente as the percentage of blacks self-declared grew this decade. The main demands are paring the areas of Health since the rate of black women Administrative Region (RA) of Presidente Prudente who die in puerperium and high; Education through enhanced, by the Municipal Education Law No. 10,639, and due attention to african-Brazilian culture by respecting the religious manifestations of African origin among others... Dentists have widely discussed environmental issues with a view to the implementation of sustainability strategies in dental practice. It is unacceptable the practice of dentistry today as merely the solution of dental problems. The Dentist has a social responsibility to incorporate into your daily work concrete actions to reduce the impact of its production process. The purpose of this study is to characterize the development and application of performanceoriented model of social responsibility in dental practice, built to preserve the environmental cause in dentistry in order to trace change scenario that allows the environmental management without compromising the quality of services offered.

Educação para o desenvolvimento sustentável: o papel da Universidade

The University is responsible for the stablishment of citizens with critical thinking, based on current concepts, capable of a dynamic and participative attitude in the community in which these professinals will be inserted. Education at environmental sustainability, permeated by the articulation among knowledge, social, and cultural phenomena, brings the challenge of incorporating skills, providing essential values not only for understanding the historical relations between human beings and the environment, but also to improving the quality of life. The “World Conference on Higher Education in the Twenty-first Century: Vision and Action" guides the educational process by its mission to train citizens professionals, highly informed, motivated, integrated and able to create a society based on love of humanity and wisdom. The balancing among the basic functions of teaching, research and extension within the University contributes to the student to take ownership of the construction of his own knowledge in a perspective of integral formation of the human being, aware of his social responsibility and policy for a society environmentally sound. This paper aims to, guided by literature review, present some considerations on the role of the University in education for environmental sustainability.
