Models with interacting dark energy can alleviate the cosmic coincidence problem by allowing dark matter and dark energy to evolve in a similar fashion. At a fundamental level, these models are specified by choosing a functional form for the scalar potential and for the interaction term. However, in order to compare to observational data it is usually more convenient to use parametrizations of the dark energy equation of state and the evolution of the dark matter energy density. Once the relevant parameters are fitted, it is important to obtain the shape of the fundamental functions. In this paper I show how to reconstruct the scalar potential and the scalar interaction with dark matter from general parametrizations. I give a few examples and show that it is possible for the effective equation of state for the scalar field to cross the phantom barrier when interactions are allowed. I analyze the uncertainties in the reconstructed potential arising from foreseen errors in the estimation of fit parameters and point out that a Yukawa-like linear interaction results from a simple parametrization of the coupling.

By introducing an appropriate parent action and considering a perturbative approach, we establish, up to fourth order terms in the field and for the full range of the coupling constant, the equivalence between the non-commutative Yang-Mills-ChernSimons theory and the non-commutative, non-Abelian self-dual model. The possibility of setting constraints on the Couplings of a scalar (pseudoscalar) Higgs boson to the tau lepton and the b quark in the reactions e(+)e(-)-->v (v) over bar tau(+)tau(-) and e(+)e(-)-->v (v) over barb (b) over bar at a future linear electron-positron collider of total energy roots = 500 GeV is studied. The admixture of a new hypothetical pseudoscalar state of the Higgs boson in the Hf (f) over bar vertex is parametrized in the form (mf/v)(a+igamma(5)b). on the basis of an analysis of differential distributions for the processes under study, it is shown that data from the future linear collider TESLA will make it possible to constrain the parameters a and b as -0.32 less than or equal to Deltaa less than or equal to 0.24 and -0.73 less than or equal to b less than or equal to 0.73 in the case of the reaction e(+)e(-)-->v (v) over bar tau(+)tau(-) and as -0.026 less than or equal to Deltaa less than or equal to 0.027 and -0.23 less than or equal to b less than or equal to 0.23 in the case of the reaction e(+)e(-) --> v (v) over barb (b) over bar. It is emphasized that the contribution of the fusion Subprocess WW --> H in the channel involving an electron neutrino is of particular importance, since this contribution enhances the sensitivity of data to the parameters being analyzed. Recently it has been pointed out that no limits can be put on the scale of fermion mass generation (M) in technicolor models, because the relation between the fermion masses (m(f)) and M depends on the dimensionality of the interaction responsible for generating the fermion mass. Depending on this dimensionality it may happen that m(f) does not depend on M at all. We show that exactly in this case m(f) may reach its largest value, which is almost saturated by the top quark mass. We make a few comments on the question of how large a dynamically generated fermion mass can be.

A three-state target elastic positronium close-coupling approximation (CCA) is employed to investigate Ps-He scattering in the energy range 0-200 eV with and without electron exchange. Low-lying phase shifts below the first excitation threshold and the total integrated cross sections using both the models are reported. Estimation of integrated excitation cross sections for Ps(1s --> 2s) and Ps(1s --> 2p) using CCA are presented for the first time. The present total cross sections are in good agreement with the measured data in the incident Ps energy range 20-30 eV.

The Gamow-Teller resonance in Pb-208 is discussed in the context of a self-consistent RPA, based on the relativistic mean field theory. We inquire on the possibility of substituting the phenomenological Landau-Migdal force by a microscopic nucleon-nucleon interaction, generated from the rho-nucleon tensor coupling. The effect of this coupling turns out to be very small when the short range correlations are not taken into account, but too large when these correlations are simulated by the simple extraction of the contact terms from the resulting nucleon-nucleon interaction. We consider a real Lagrangian off-critical submodel describing the soliton sector of the so-called conformal affine sl(3)((1)) Toda model coupled to matter fields. The theory is treated as a constrained system in the context of Faddeev-Jackiw and the symplectic schemes. We exhibit the parent Lagrangian nature of the model from which generalizations of the sine-Gordon (GSG) or the massive Thirring (GMT) models are derivable. The dual description of the model is further emphasized by providing the relationships between bilinears of GMT spinors and relevant expressions of the GSG fields. In this way we exhibit the strong/weak coupling phases and the (generalized) soliton/particle correspondences of the model. The sl(n)((1)) case is also outlined. We use a version of the meson cloud model, including the kaon and the K-* contributions, to estimate the electric and magnetic strange form factors of the nucleon. We compare our results with the recent measurements of the strange quark contribution to parity-violating asymmetries in the forward G0 electron-proton scattering experiment. We conclude that it is very important to determine experimentally the electric and magnetic strange form factors, and not only the combination G(E)(s)+eta G(M)(s), if one does really intend to understand the strangeness of the nucleon.

In this Letter we study the process of gluon fusion into a pair of Higgs bosons in a model with one universal extra dimension. We find that the contributions from the extra top quark Kaluza-Klem excitations lead to a Higgs pair production cross section at the LHC that can be significantly altered compared to the Standard Model value for small values of the compactification scale. The neutron-to-proton ratio of the structure functions, F(2)(n)/F(2)(p), as well as the corresponding difference F(2)(p)-F(2)(n) are obtained within a statistical quark model for the nucleon, where the quark energy levels are given by a central linear confining potential.

Recent progress in the solution of Schwinger-Dyson equations, as well as lattice simulation of pure glue QCD, indicate that the gluon propagator and coupling constant are infrared finite. Such non-perturbative information can be introduced in the QCD perturbative expansion in the scheme named Dynamical Perturbation Theory. We exemplify this procedure with the calculation of some two-body non-leptonic annihilation B meson decays, which show agreement with the experimental data in the case of a gluon propagator characterized by a dynamical gluon mass of 500MeV, compatible with the value found in several processes computed with this method. We give a. preliminary account of the application of this procedure at the loop level in the case of the Bjorken sum rule.

In this paper, we have calculated the masses of mesons containing t-quark and their spins' coupling coefficients. This was achieved by solving Lippmann-Schwinger equation for the quark-antiquark bound state of heavy mesons in configuration space. Heavy meson masses submitted criteria for the strong nuclear interactive potential between two quarks. We investigated the stability of a few suitable potentials and offered the best of these potentials for heavy mesons.
