In the first decades of the Republic, the streets of the main Brazilian capital cities, especially of Rio de Janeiro and Recife, recently urbanized based on the Haussmanian Paris and smiled upon by the fever of cosmopolitanism that invested Europe, women had been used as runways where they could exhibit her imitated or imported models, especially in Paris. The iconography of the time and the advertisements conveyed by magazines and illustrated periodicals, such as the Almanach de Pernambuco and the magazine Kosmos, for instance, form the testimonies of the massive presence of the French in Rio and Recife, owners of stores and maisons, interested in fulfill the demands of the republican public. In spite of the Strong adherence of the Brazilians to the sociability models to the imported from Europe, the less-favored classes, through the popular literature, showed some resistance to these changes in the habits and clothing, especially in the Northeast, where traces of the Catholic and patriarchal moral and mentality were still alive.

In the last decades several hormonal treatments to induce multiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) have been developed. Tight control of the time of ovulation allowed the use of fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) in bovine embryos donors, facilitating animal management. Although, protocols that allow FTAI have evolved and yield as much embryo as conventional protocols that requires estrus detection, substantial increase in viable embryo production has not been observed in superestimulated bovine cattle. The present review put emphasis on superestimulatory protocols in wich the last two doses of pFSH are replaced by eCG or LH. Recent results indicate that an extra LH stimulus (using eCG or LH), on the last day of P-36 superestimulatory treatment, seems to improve transferable embryo yield in both Bos taurus and Bos indicus cattle.

In the short story “Teoria do Medalhão”, written by Machado de Assis in 1881, a zealous father decides to give good advices to his son who just turned 21 years old. Using a speech that represents the official ideology of the eighteenth century, created by the dominant hegemony, including the France of Balzac’s time, the father suggests that the son abandons his ideals, using masks and annulling his thoughts and tastes to become a true Medalhão. The dialogue that is established between both of them is surrounded by irony and humor, because the father makes an apparently wise speech, which is, actually, empty and fool, leading to think about the concepts of parody and carnavalization by Bakhtin. Besides that, when he built a story in dialogue form, Machado de Assis transfers the word to the characters, in a crossing of voices that makes us think about “embryos” of polyphony. This work aims to make a bakhtiniana reading of the machadiano short story, “Teoria do Medalhão” in opposition to the novel Le Père Goriot by Balzac.

In this article initially we tried to show the criticism made by Nabuco about the imperial slave politics, then your search overcoming of slavery through the abolitionist campaign. The two moments of labor established the confrontation of his positions with the treatment given to the topics studied by historiography in the variety of their views.

In this article we intend to discuss the type of letters produced by Cláudio Manuel da Costa when he was member of Academia Brasílica dos Renascidos basing the analyses on the ancient rhetoric, used as a model by scholars between sixteenth and eighteenth century. These documents show his filiation with academicism practices, presents evidence of his biography and his domain of two writing styles: the poetic style for which he is known, and the academic style, employed in the exercise of his function under the literate associations, confirming his actions, both in the political and intellectual framework of that time.

In this paper, are analyzed the content of morality and civility disclosed in five articles published in the Revista de Educação, educational periodic published by the School for Teaching Training of Piracicaba, between 1921 and 1923, and that had Lourenço Filho as editor. For the analysis, it was used aspects of the theory of civilization processes, based on the emotional control idea, proposed by the German sociologist Norbert Elias, in the first decades of the twentieth century. Through historical approach, it was founded in these articles the principles of civility and of morality that should be taught through the school to the teaching training students so they could teach it to their students, future citizens of Republic. From the analysis of the articles of this journal it was possible to observe the "drawing" of citizen who was disclosed and, consequently, the spread - through the school – of values related to social behavior that matched to the standards of civilized individuals to the Brazilian Republic.

In this paper, the aim is to highlight and analyze certain moments in the work of Merleau-Ponty when discussions took place about the condition of the natural in us. We mainly focus on the observed opposition between the evolutionist viewpoint adopted in The structure of Behavior and the perspective in the Phenomenology of Perception, based on the body as expression. We also look at studies on infantile prematuration and mention the characterization of the human body in the philosopher’s courses on the notion of nature. We underline the expressive dimension of the natural in us, which emerges from Merleau-Ponty’s formulations. In addition, we evidence the importance of psychoanalysis in the Merleau-Ponty’s treatment of the corporeity problem.

In this paper, we circumscribe a domain of theoretical research on the combination dynamics between the dimensions of presence and absence, visibility and invisibility, which emerges in the phenomenology of perception as an essential trait which marks both our experience of the perceived world and our subjective and intersubjective experience. We prioritize a theoretical axis that integrates Edmund Husserl and Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s thinking into Renaud Barbaras’ recent contributions. To this philosophical framework, we link contributions especially of psychology, outlining the circular movement observed between the phenomenology of perception and phenomenological psychology, Gestalt psychology, psychoanalysis, cognitive sciences and neurosciences.

In drug discovery and development, the kinetic study of active metabolites plays an important role, helping to define the time course of the drug in the body and its activity or toxicity. After a pharmacokinetics assessment of a drug and its metabolite or a prodrug and its parent-drug, several parameters can be calculated. In some cases, achieving the objective of the study does not require all possible parameters to be calculated. When parameters are calculated, it is essential that their denotations are widely accepted and used. However, some parameters undergo a certain variability of denotation, which may confuse some readers. Thus, this review summarizes the current published data for experimental pharmacokinetic parameters of metabolites and the calculations involved in simple metabolite pharmacokinetic studies. It also evaluates the most common pharmacokinetic parameters in the literature and suggests metabolite parameters that could be determined to help advance metabolite kinetic models.

In this work we present a didactic proposal to use song lyrics for Physics Teaching aimed to High School level. Based on the work proposed by Zanetic (1990) that Physics is also Culture, we understand that its influence extends beyond the scientific boundaries, reaching spheres of knowledge where its presence is less obvious, such as the arts, especially Music. Based on proposals for Ramos and Gomes (2013), activities were conducted in two groups of second year of high school in the city of Rio Claro, each with an approach. In one of the classes the students received as material the lyrics of the songs printed and the other students were given a table along with the lyrics. In these materials the students identified physical concepts present in the songs Nuclear Shelter of the São Paulo band Premeditando the Breque and Manhattan Project of the Canadian band Rush. We observed during activities an improvement in the participation of students in theoretical discussions, probably due to a more favorable context for students to express themselves assigned by us to the activities with the songs. After performing the activities we demonstrated that you can enter the Music in the classroom not only as entertainment but as an aid in research and understanding of physical concepts
