A frequência de micoses invasivas causadas por fungos oportunistas, incluindo leveduriformes, vem aumentando significativamente nas últimas décadas e atinge principalmente indivíduos imunocomprometidos. A tribo Attini possui cerca de 230 espécies de formigas e todas possuem o hábito de cultivar e se alimentar de fungos. Algumas espécies cultivam o fungo mutualista em nódulos poligonais sólidos com 0,25 a 0,50mm de diâmetro, aproximadamente. No interior desses nódulos, encontram-se células na forma de leveduras, que quando semeadas em meio de cultura se desenvolvem como fungo filamentoso. Este tipo de fungicultura está restrito a algumas espécies do gênero Cyphomyrmex. Neste trabalho, isolamos 30 leveduras dos nódulos de oito ninhos de Cyphomyrmex transversus da região de Ilhéus (BA), e analisamos a susceptibilidade aos seguintes antifúngicos: Anfotericina B (AMB), Fluconazol (FCZ), Voriconazol (VCZ) e Itraconazol (ITZ). A caracterização das estirpes foi feita através de métodos morfológicos e moleculares, incluindo-se o sequenciamento dos domínios D1/D2 do rDNA. A avaliação da atividade antifúngica foi realizada através do método de microdiluição, de acordo com a norma M27-A2 (CLSI, 2002). Candida parapsilosis ATCC 22019 e Candida krusei ATCC 6258 foram utilizadas como controle. Os resultados foram interpretados segundo os pontos de corte (breakpoints) aplicados ao gênero Candida. As estirpes foram identificadas como Trichosporon asahii (18), T. coremiiforme (4), Candida carpophila (syn. C. guilliermondii) (4), Galactomyces candidum (syn. Geotrichum candidum) (3) e Cryptococcus laurentii (1). Todas as espécies são conhecidas por possuírem representantes que já foram relatados como patógenos oportunistas. The proper management of materials storage is essential to supply the needs of production and reduce the inventory costs. Moreover, an effective layout contributes to improve the productivity and reduce the operational costs of a warehouse. This way, the purpose of this study was: to propose an expansion project to the warehouse of a factory in the food sector, suggesting a layout that best fit their needs and to verify its economic feasibility. To achieve this goal, it was applied methods such as ABC curve, spaghetti diagram and concepts of economics engineering to the analysis of investment in the project. The results showed that the second layout model was better than the first, supporting the storage capacity required by the company and presenting an internal movement more efficient. However, with the investment analysis, it was found that it was not feasible, given the conditions of the company, investing in the expansion of the warehouse

The conservation of raw milk for long periods of time under refrigeration can result in the lost of its quality. This happens because bacterias, capable of developing in low temperatures, as psichrotrophics, in milk, associates with its enzymatic activities, are capable to degradate it. Although the pasteurization of milk sufficiently diminishes the transmission of the illnesses, that generally eliminates such microorganisms, is not a total efficient process because many enzymes produced for such bacterias are termostable, being able to resist the treatment and to remain active, leading to the loss of the quality of milk and its derivatives. The Normative Instruction 51 of 2002 established that milk must be cooled and stored in the production property, what resulted increasing the incidence of such bacteria in population destined milk. In some parts of the world contaminated milk is causing serious risks to the health of the population, assuming great importance in Public Health, mainly in relation to the hygienic-sanitary conditions of the product. ANVISA establishes, thus, maximum bacteriological concentration that must be evidenced before commercializing the product, guaranteeing the quality of milk as proper for consumption. Based on these aspects, the objective of this work is the microbiological analysis of 30 milk samples type C, collected in bakeries of the city Botucatu, in the state of São Paulo. Analysis were made to determinate the most likely number of termotolerants coliforms, as well the number of colony units of psichrotrophics bacterias, the presence of Salmonella and the enumeration of positive Staphylococcus aureus, at the moment of purchase and validity of the products

Brazil is one of the largest producers of animal protein. In 2010, the production of meat (beef, pork and poultry) was estimated at 24.5 million tons and 75% was consumed in the country. The meat is a primary source of water and fat and contains between 20% and 35% protein, providing all essential amino acids and several micronutrients and vitamins. Due to the large consumption of this food, its quality is extremely important and the research of some indicators microorganism become essential in order to ensure the hygienic and sanitary quality, indicating contamination of fecal origin, with the possible presence of pathogens or to identify food spoilage. Thus, the aim of study was to determine the microbiological quality of 90 samples handled meat products and pre- prepared marketed in Botucatu city, according to the parameters required by ANVISA (RDC  12, 2001). Among the samples analyzed, all of them were negative for Staphylococcus coagulase positive and were within the limit allowed by ANVISA for the Clostridium sulfite reducer (up to 3 x 103 CFU/ g). The presence of Salmonella was confirmed in only one sample (1.1%), against to the legal parameters. About thermotolerant coliforms, 54.4% of the samples were outside the acceptable limit by law (up to 5 x 103 MPN/g). Therefore, the presence of these microorganisms indicates inadequate hygiene conditions of foodhandlers and equipment used in the, which are considered inadequate for consumption

O Brasil está passando por um grande processo de desenvolvimento e crescimento, com isso o Governo Federal criou o PAC 2 (Plano de Aceleração do Crescimento), que prevê melhorias da educação, saúde e infraestrutura, entre elas, a construção de usinas hidrelétricas para suprir as necessidades energéticas do país. Existem outras formas de gerar energias, porém a decisão do Governo Federal em construir hidrelétricas se dá pelo o fato de o Brasil ter um alto potencial hidráulico, principalmente na região Amazônica, onde esse potencial ainda é pouco explorado. No presente trabalho vamos discutir sobre a construção da UHE de Belo Monte na Volta grande do rio Xingu e seus impactos ambientais, sob uma visão da ecologia de paisagem, a curto e médio prazo. Com o estudo do EIA e RIMA da Belo Monte, já é possível prevê a formação de um fragmento no Médio Xingu. A UHE trará desenvolvimento para região, com isso o desmatamento irá aumentar para suprir a demanda de habitação, alimentos, locomoção e estrutura urbana. O fragmento sofrerá com impactos da urbanização ao redor, e a esperança é que as terras indígenas freiem o desmatamento e não deixa o fragmento diminuir ainda mais, prejudicando mais ainda a biodiversidade do local

Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) is one of the main tools currently used to ensure safety, quality and integrity of foods. So, the aim of this study was to develop and implement the HACCP program in the processing of pasteurized grade A milk Checklists were used to assess on the level of the pre requisites programs and on the sanitary classification of the dairy industry and the results were used as references for the development of the HACCP system. A "decision tree" protocol was used for the identification of the critical control points (CCP). No physical or chemical CCP were identified, whereas pasteurization and packaging were considered biological CCP For these CCP, the limits for prevention, monitoring needs, corrective actions, critical limits and verification procedures were established. The pre requisites program was essential for the establishment of the system. The implementation of the HACCP for the processing of grade A pasteurized milk was efficient to control the biological hazards and enabled the product to comply with the legislation specifications and achieve safety.
