This work analyzed the loss of sensible heat from one fluid to be considered homogeneous heat distribution on a thermal reservoir with cylindrical geometries composite insulating layers. We studied two thermal reservoirs with a volume of 20 liters, and the first has a layer thickness of 75 mm of expanding polyurethane foam wrapped in the polycarbonate container and the second container has only layer thickness of 5 mm of polycarbonate, as insulation of fluid of the external environment. The experimental results are compared with theoretical results obtained through a calculation script, displayed and detailed during the work development, from the theory of energy balance. The maximum error introduced between the theoretical and experimental results were 3.5% and 1.4% respectively for the Boilers with or without a polyurethane coating

This work aims to verify and compare the efficiency of heat exchangers used in the thermal systems laboratory at Faculdade de Engenharia do Campus de Guaratinguetá - UNESP. Basically, it has been studied two types of heat exchangers: plate type, operating in parallel flow and counter-flow, shell and tube type and also operating in parallel flow and counter flow. Initially it has been presented the didactic equipment and procedures for use of these heat exchangers in the proposed experiments. With the results obtained from the experiments, comparisons were made in order to define the behavior of the heat exchangers regarding some variables. In the study, one comes to the conclusion that the results from shell and tube type of heat exchanger, used in the thermal systems lab, are superior in all conditions analyzed

The purpose of this work was to define the processes through which the cooling of thermoplastics parts occur inside the mold cavity in an injection process. The plastic materials have become more widespread in the automobile industry and, among its manufacturing processes, injection moulding develops quickly, allowing the manufacturing of quality parts in great volumes. Data was collected from the injection of Volkswagen Gol NF 23X (Gol Generation 5). Using approximated methods for calculation for the heat Exchange inside the mould, in the cooling system, the required water flow was determined to properly cool the parts. Comparing the obtained value with Project specifications, it was verified that the method, in spite of incurring in some mistakes, is efficient in determining the flow of cooling fluid and serves as a verification tool for the parameters defined on project, and can be applied to simple projects. The definition of the cooling system, in practice, is dependent on innumerable variables and each case must be approached in itself, since the parameters for one product may not be ideal for another

We report here a study about the application of a formal teaching strategy about heat and temperature concepts applied among high school students. The strategy belongs to a research trend which deals with epistemological analogies and has an innovative character related to the students’ preparation for rational debates between conceptions and/or rival theories, using didactical rational reconstruction (DRR) which aims to help scientific concepts rational learning. We investigate the outcomes of this preparation and students’ conceptual development, analyzed through a qualitative-interpretative methodological approach.

Introdução: O bambu é uma cultura perene, renovável, de rápido crescimento, com produção anual de colmos e com milhares de possibilidades de uso. O Assentamento Rural Horto de Aimorés, distante 15 km da UNESP, possui cerca de 350 famílias assentadas pelo INCRA, desde o ano de 2007, e a comunidade, que tem por característica básica o trabalho com a terra, vem buscando alternativas de sustentabilidade, fixação ao campo e geração de renda. Este trabalho faz parte do projeto de extensão “Implantação do Projeto Bambu no Assentamento Rural Horto de Aimorés”, Unesp – Unisol / Banco Real - Santander, desenvolvido no Laboratório de Experimentação com Bambu da Unesp, campus de Bauru. O projeto de extensão universitária prevê um conjunto de atividades de capacitação e desenvolvimento pautadas em estudos na área da sustentabilidade e do design de modo a dar condições técnicas para geração de renda. Objetivos: O objetivo deste trabalho foi o desenvolvimento de três produtos artesanais em bambu, pulseira, pegador de pimenta e pote de aperitivos, capazes de gerar renda. Depois de desenvolvidos pelos agricultores, os produtos são periodicamente expostos ao público através da participação em feiras e mostras locais na cidade, como por exemplo, feira Ubá e feira do grupo Pão de Açúcar. Métodos: Este trabalho ocorreu em três etapas, a primeira envolvendo a colheita e processamento do bambu. A segunda através de oficinas de extensão com os agricultores, para a confecção dos produtos artesanais em bambu in natura. A terceira envolvendo a geração de renda com os agricultores através de participações em amostras e feiras locais. Resultados: As oficinas ocorreram de forma prática e permitiu aos agricultores o aprendizado de todo o processo para a confecção do produto final. A confecção dos produtos artesanais tem mostrado a viabilidade técnica da utilização do bambu como matéria prima e a capacitação e evolução mostrada pelos agricultores permitem que se desenvolvam novos produtos, num processo gradual e contínuo de aprendizado e geração de renda.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of glutamine supplementation of the diet on intestinal mucosa morphology, performance, and egg quality of commercial laying hens, submitted to heat stress and thermoneutral conditions. In this study, 96 (Isa Babcock) laying hens at 35 weeks of age were used and distributed in a completely randomized design according to a 2x2 factorial arrangement, with two levels of ambient temperature (thermoneutral and hot) and two levels of glutamine in the diet (0.0 and 1.0% of inclusion), in 6 replicates of 4 hens per box. Feed intake, daily egg production, feed conversion per kilogram of eggs, and egg quality were obtained in two periods of 28 days each. Heat stress decreased egg production and quality, and glutamine supplementation improved egg quality and feed conversion. The heat and glutamine supplementation provided an increase in calliciform cells quantity in duodenum and ileum, respectively. Significant morphological modifications in the intestinal mucosa of laying hens were not found.

The massive urbanization and activities arising from the uncontrolled growth of urban areas, result in changes on the climate, making it unhealthy. One factor that contributes to poor quality of life due to this fact is the islands of heat that consists in the accumulation of surface heat and raises the temperature in the cities. The vegetation consists of urban greening, urban forests and green areas, have the function to minimize this effect. To reconcile these factors, collected data on surface temperature by satellite images, LANDSAT 5 captured on 18/12/2012 point 75 e 76, orbits 221, band 6 and on-site survey with thermo-hygrometer, possessed the data, crossing the conducted vegetative survey and provided a management vision to improve the microclimate of the city under study. The vegetation coverage at urban area directly affects the ambient temperature, improving the urban micro-climate. The different analyzed surface coverage also affects the apparent temperature. Among the studied ranks, the eucalyptus cultivation, native forest, urban area and solo exposed areas with greater vegetation cover have mild temperatures and improved microclimate.
