Visualisation in the field of dentistry has nor, thus far, reached the same development as other medical fields. Potential applications of visualisation techniques in this area, however, are many, ranging from educational displays to training for delicate procedures. This paper reports on the investigation of techniques for handling three-dimensional models of teeth, aiming at investigation of dental structures. An algorithm was implemented for this purpose, which reconstructs three-dimensional teeth models from two-dimensional contour slices. Results employing various data sets are presented, including the output of VRML models for exploration.

We devote effort to studying some nonlinear actions, characteristic of W theories, in the framework of the soldering formalism. We disclose interesting new results concerning the embedding of the original chiral W particles in different metrical spaces in the final soldered action; i.e., the metric is modified by the soldering interference process. The results are presented in a weak field approximation for the W-N case when Ngreater than or equal to3 and also in an exact way for W-2. We promote a generalization of the interference phenomenon to W-N theories of different chiralities and show that the geometrical features introduced can yield a new understanding of the interference formalism in quantum field theories.

We present a new method to construct the exactly solvable PT-symmetric potentials within the framework of the position-dependent effective mass Dirac equation with the vector potential coupling scheme in 1 + 1 dimensions. In order to illustrate the procedure, we produce three PT-symmetric potentials as examples, which are PT-symmetric harmonic oscillator-like potential, PT-symmetric potential with the form of a linear potential plus an inversely linear potential, and PT-symmetric kink-like potential, respectively. The real relativistic energy levels and corresponding spinor components for the bound states are obtained by using the basic concepts of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics formalism and function analysis method. This paper is a study on the population dynamics of blowflies employing a density-dependent. non-linear mathematical model and a coupled population formalism. In this Study, we investigated the coupled population dynamics applying fuzzy subsets to model the Population trajectory. analyzing demographic parameters such as fecundity, Survival, and migration. The main results suggest different possibilities in terms of dynamic behavior produced by migration in coupled Populations between distinct environments and the rescue effect generated by the connection between populations. It was possible to conclude that environmental heterogeneity can play an important role in blowfly metapopulation systems. The implications of these results for population dynamics of blowflies are discussed.

The description of patterns of variation in any character system within well-defined species is fundamental for understanding lineage diversification and the identification of geographic units that represent opportunities for sustained evolutionary divergence. In this paper, we analyze intraspecific variation in cranial shape in the Pumpkin Toadlet, Brachycephalus ephippium-a miniaturized species composed of isolated populations on the slopes of the mountain ranges of southeastern Brazil. Shape variables were derived using geometric-statistical methods that describe shape change as localized deformations in a spatial framework defined by anatomical landmarks in the cranium of B. ephippium. By statistically weighting differences between landmarks that are not close together (changes at larger geometric scale), cranial variation among geographic samples of B. ephippium appears continuous with no obvious gaps. This pattern of variation is caused by a confounding effect between within-sample allometry and among-sample shape differences. In contrast, by statistically weighting differences between landmarks that are at close spacing (changes at smaller geometric scale), differences in shape within- and among-sample variation are not confounded, and a marked geographic differentiation among population samples of B. ephippium emerges. The observed pattern of geographic differentiation in cranial shape apparently cannot be explained as isolation-by-distance. This study provides the first evidence that the detection of morphological variation or lack thereof, that is, morphological conservatism, may be conditional on the scale of measurement of variation in shape within the methodological formalism of geometric morphometrics.

Three dimensional exactly solvable quantum potentials for which an extra term of form 1/r(2) has been added are shown to maintain their functional form which allows the construction of the Hamiltonian hierarchy and the determination of the spectra of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions within the Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics formalism. For the specific cases of the harmonic oscillator and the Coulomb potentials, known as pseudo-harmonic oscillator and pseudo-Coulomb potentials, it is shown here that the inclusion of the new term corresponds to rescaling the angular momentum and it is responsible for maintaining their exact solvability.
