Estudo de doses e otimização de carta técnica na transição de radiologia convencional para computacional em diagnósticos veterinários

This project aims the verification of doses in canines and felines to chest and coxal exams due to the transition from screen-film to computed radiography system. It also seeks a possible optimization of the new techniques employed in this new system. The study was carried out in Diagnostic Imaging service in Hospital Veterinário da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia da Universidade de São Paulo using a conventional x-ray equipment. Initially, data about the physical characteristics of animals and the technique currently used in computed radiography was collected for each of 80 chest and 16 coxal X-ray examinations. The animals were divided into different groups according to the body weight. For each group, were calculated the averages of each item: thickness of the region to be imaged, voltage, current, exposure time, current-time product, size of film used, presence or absence of bucky and focus (small or large). The techniques have been reproduced in phantoms (representative of the thickness of the animal) in order to collect the air kerma entrance. Based on the average of intermediate size M group (weights less than 5 kg for cats and from 10.1 kg and 20 kg for dogs) analysis of image quality using three devices test patterns were made consisting of the evaluation of spatial resolution, low-contrast resolution and contrast-detail. Estudo das técnicas inferenciais de bioestatística com aplicação a dados de natureza biológica

A todo o momento, pesquisadores de diversas áreas do conhecimento buscam propor novos métodos e procedimentos, contestar teorias atualmente aceitas, descobrir novos ativos e fórmulas ou aprimorar aquelas já existentes. Contudo, para que estas novas proposições sejam aceitas na comunidade cientifica é imprescindível que existam dados que comprovem o estudo realizado. A bioestatística é uma ciência que permite descrever, comparar e fazer inferências a partir destes dados, com certo grau de confiança, tornando uma pesquisa muito mais robusta e confiável. A presente revisão bibliográfica objetiva trazer a bioestatística de uma forma simples, livre da complexidade matemática e com exemplos da biologia, para que qualquer aluno da área de biológicas possa compreender o conteúdo sem grandes dificuldades. O trabalho está basicamente dividido em dois temas: “Estimação de Parâmetros” e “Testes de Hipóteses”, sendo que neste último serão abordados exemplos para os testes paramétricos e não-paramétricos em cada comparação apresentada

Caracterização e mapeamento da cultura da cana-de-açúcar no município de Rio Claro (SP) por meio de técnicas de sensoriamento remoto e sistemas de informações geográficas

This paper discusses about the use of remote sensing image and processing digital images tools for mapping and assessing the effect on the biomass of the culture of sugar cane in the city of Rio Claro. We used satellite images from CBERS in the passages of 19/04/2009 and 23/09/08, which correspond respectively to the stages where the sugar cane appeared in growing and adult pre-harvest stage. In these images, we applied procedures of digital processing, as the application of the procedures for extending linear contrast, radiometric normalization, Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI) and pixel by pixel classification by ISOSEG through of the software SPRING. As a result we obtained mapping of the distribution and development stages of the culture of sugar cane in the city of Rio Claro and the mapping of the existing biomass of this culture, showing that the method used to assess the relative effect on biomass in culture of sugar cane was efficient, and that images of low-medium resolution are not the most suitable for the mapping of this culture

The increasing interest of patients for a better aesthetic appearance of their smile, associated with the development of new materials and techniques, encouraged by media couverage of this concept of beauty, provided an important evolution of cosmetic dentistry. As the darkness of a single anterior tooth or a group of teeth, in most cases, impairs the appearance of the smile and there is growing appreciation of the less invasive procedures, the technique of tooth bleaching is an important option for aesthetic treatment. To have success in the bleaching treatment, it is important to have knowledge of the origin, nature and composition of the stain. Among the causes of color changes acquired post-eruptive, dental trauma, with or without pulp necrosis, is one of the most commonly encountered etiologies, characterized by a reddish-brown color. Current techniques of bleaching for teeth treated endodontically employ oxidative agent hydrogen peroxide. The objective of this paper is to describe the immediate technique of bleaching non-vital tooth by presenting a clinical case.

Repercussões endodônticas dos procedimentos clareadores

Tooth bleaching is a treatment modality that raises great interest, due to the important role played by aesthetics in current life style. To perform such procedure, nowadays, there are several bleaching substances at several concentrations, as well as, diverse clinical techniques. When suggesting this procedure, the dentist should take into consideration several factors related to the patient to determine which will be the most appropriate technique/material combination for solving the clinical problem. The procedure indication should not only be based on the expectations exhibited by the patient, but also on respecting the biological principles to maintain the integrity of both the endodontic and periodontal tissues.

The Urban Plans are technical and politician tools and their elaboration must have citizen involvement. Thus, several aspects must be taken into account while preparing it including both technical and communitarian urban development besides environmental and sanitation features. The paper aim is to present the applied techniques and to discuss the results obtained from physical and environmental diagnostic made to prepare Rio Claro and Iracemápolis Urban Plans. From the presented experiences it was possible to identify adequate technical proceedings as well as to verify general problems that can emerge during Urban Plan diagnostic phase.
