A 109-day feeding trial was undertaken aiming to evaluate the growth performance of Nile tilapia fed graded choline levels One hundred and ninety-two (initial-weight 4 0 [plus or minus] 0 15 g) fingerlings were distributed into 32 net cages (200 L each), four cages per treatment and six fish per cage, placed in eight 10001, aquaria in a closed recirculation system The treatments were assigned to the tanks comprising eight treatments and loin replications arranged in a completely randomized experimental design Diets were supplemented with choline chloride to provide 100, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200 mg of choline per kg of feed and an unsupplemented diet No significant differences were observed in growth performance, survival, apparent feed conversion, liver and fillet ether extract, hepatosomatic index and plasma lipid concentration, among treatments Choline levels did not improve growth performance, possibly because the amount of choline in the diet had already met fish requirement

Aplicação exógena de artemisinina e indução floral em Artemisia annua L.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different artemisinin concentrations in the flowering induction of A. annua. Two genotypes of A. annua (CPQBA 239x1V and 3MxPOP) were atomized with four different artemisinin concentrations (0, 500, 5000, and 10000 mg L-1). The application of artemisinin didn't induce the flowering of both genotypes tested, in none of the used concentrations.

Sistema especialista para a monitoração do processo de degradação de medidores tipo indução de energia elétrica ativa

This paper presents a methodology and software for hazard rate analysis of induction type watt-hour meters, considering the main variables related with the degradation process of these meters, for the Elektro Electricity and Services SA. The modeling developed to calculate the watt-hour meters hazard rate was implemented in a tool through a user friendly platform, in Delphi language, enabling not only hazard rate analysis, but also a classification by risk range, localization of installation for the analyzed meters, and, allowing, through an expert system, the sampling of induction type watt-hour meters, based on the model risk developed with artificial intelligence, with the mainly goal of follow and manage the process of degradation, maintenance and replacement of these meters. © 2010 IEEE.

Aspectos morfométricos de Ceraeochrysa paraguaria (Navás, 1920) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) alimentada com diferentes presas

Ceraeochrysa paraguaria do not has its life history well known, despite its description do not be recent. The present work aimed to evaluate morphometric aspects of C. paraguaria larvae were feeding on Diatraea saccharalis, Sitotroga cerealella e Anagasta kuehniella eggs with the objective to determine the mandibule length, head capsule length, torax + head length, and larvae weight. By the results it was possible to conclude: to the morphometrical parameters, only larvae weight was influenced by the food consumed by the predator, being the nymphal development shorter.

Aprendizado de máquina simbólico e técnicas fractais para caracterizar rejeição em biópsia miocárdica

This work combines symbolic machine learning and multiscale fractal techniques to generate models that characterize cellular rejection in myocardial biopsies and that can base a diagnosis support system. The models express the knowledge by the features threshold, fractal dimension, lacunarity, number of clusters, spatial percolation and percolation probability, all obtained with myocardial biopsies processing. Models were evaluated and the most significant was the one generated by the C4.5 algorithm for the features spatial percolation and number of clusters. The result is relevant and contributes to the specialized literature since it determines a standard diagnosis protocol. © 2013 Springer.
