Utilização da distância total percorrida no teste específico de hoff como preditor da velocidade de limiar anaeróbio no futebol

OBJECTIVE: To verify the use of maximal running distance performed on Hoff test to predict the anaerobic threshold speed (sAnT). METHODS: Ten young soccer players (age of 17 ± 1 years and body mass of 64.3 ± 2.1 kg) were subjects of the study. The subjects performed 12-min test, lactate minimum test to estimate the anaerobic threshold speed and a field test called Hoff. The purpose of Hoff test was to cover the maximum distance during a period of 10min moving a soccer ball through the track by dribbling. RESULTS: The distance covered during 12-min was 2673.2 ± 64.7 m, the sAnT was 11.6 ± 0.3 km.h-1 and distance covered during test Hoff test was 1458.7 ± 49.6 m. The distance covered during Hoff test was not significantly correlated with sAnT (r = -0.20; P > 0.05) and distance covered during 12-min test (r = -0.15; P > 0.05). The sAnT did not differ of speed correspondent 90% at 12-min speed and they were statistically correlated (r = 0.65). CONCLUSION: Thus, we concluded that maximal distance covered during Hoff test cannot provides a valid prediction of the anaerobic threshold speed.

O Efeito da Manipulação Miofascial sobre o Limiar Doloroso em Atletas Durante Período Competitivo

Introduction: The myofascial pain syndrome (SDM) is one of the most common causes of musculoskeletal pain. One of the possible treatments for SDM is the type of physiotherapy myofascial manipulation. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of manipulative technique with myofascial pain threshold before and after applying the technique in athletes during competition period. Methods: Participated in the study 62 subjects of both genders, aged between 14 and 38 (19.64 + 4.89), who had myofascial pain syndrome, 32 oh the treatment group and 30 divided equally between control group and the placebo group. All were athletes and operated by the Department of Sport and Leisure in the city of Marilia – SP and were in competitive period. The volunteers were evaluated according to their musculoskeletal symptoms to prove the necessity of performing the technique of myofascial manipulation. Confi rmed the need to assess the pressure pain threshold (LDP) using a digital dynamometer. After the measurement, patients underwent treatment or using the technique of myofascial manipulation, or a sliding surface for the placebo or no treatment for the control group followed by the immediate reassessment of the LDP. Results: The results were normalized by Kolmogrov-Smirnov test (KS). Through the ANOVA test found no differences between the initial LDP thresholds between groups. To compare pre and post LDP of the three groups we used the paired t test. Signifi cant difference (p=0.0001) between the values of pain threshold before and after application of myofascial manipulation for the treated group and not signifi cant for the control group (p=0.45) and placebo (p=0.16). Conclusion: We conclude then that the myofascial manipulation technique is able to increase pain threshold after micro-musculoskeletal injuries in athletes in competitive period.

Cidade média de limiar superior: um estudo a partir de Ribeirão Preto (SP)

This papper aims to discuss Ribeirão Preto as a switched-over intermediate city classification, contrastating with the concept of Metropolitan Region of Ribeirão Preto. The agribusiness sector will be analysed as the main responsible for the representation of Ribeirão Preto city as an Agribusiness Center. Due to this fact, Sertãozinho city example will be presented as Agribusiness City, where acctually concentrates the agro-industrial complex of sugarcane production, while Ribeirão Preto is in fact centralizes management activities. According to the balance of trade analysis, other elements showed up and fortifies the role of this cities. These elements unfolded the analysis of higher education guideline and shopping malls. We also analyzed the urban network of Ribeirão Preto under the concept of the Região de Influência das Cidades (REGIC) and the creation of the project Metropolitan Region of Ribeirão Preto in order to strengthen the central hypothesis as a switched-over medium sized city. Determinação de fatores de correção da intensidade de limiar anaeróbio em diferentes séries de treinamento intermitente na natação

Estimativa de parâmetros genéticos da habilidade de permanência aos 48, 60 e 72 meses de idade em vacas da raça Caracu

Objetivou-se estimar a herdabilidade da característica habilidade de permanência (HP) em um rebanho de bovinos da raça Caracu visando sua utilização como critério de seleção. A característica em estudo foi definida como a probabilidade de a vaca estar presente no rebanho aos 48 (HP48), aos 60 (HP60) e aos 72 (HP72) meses, desde que possuíssem registros de pelo menos duas lactações nas específicas idades. Observações binárias, com zero (0 = fracasso) e um (1 = sucesso) foram designadas aos animais. Para análise da HP, foram utilizados dados de 5.487, 4.947 e 4.308 animais aos 48, 60 e 72 meses, respectivamente. Os componentes de variância e as herdabilidades foram estimados mediante inferência Bayesiana, via amostragem de Gibbs, pelo programa MTGSAM - threshold, utilizando-se um modelo touro. Foram utilizadas como variáveis explanatórias grupo de contemporâneos, classe de produção de leite na primeira lactação, classe de idade ao primeiro parto e sua interação. As análises forneceram estimativas médias de herdabilidade iguais a 0,28 ± 0,07 para HP48, 0,27 ± 0,07 para HP60 e 0,23 ± 0,07 para HP72. Os resultados evidenciaram que a característica HP apresentou variação aditiva em todas as idades estudadas e, portanto, pode ser empregada como critério de seleção para longevidade produtiva.

Blood lactate threshold reflects glucose responses in horses submitted to incremental exercise test

Determinou-se, em eqüinos, o efeito do treinamento sobre as concentrações sangüíneas de lactato e plasmáticas de glicose durante exercício de intensidade progressiva em esteira rolante. Demonstrou-se que o treinamento aeróbico causou diminuição da concentração máxima de lactato e que o limiar de lactato corresponde ao ponto de inflexão da curva de glicose plasmática, confirmando esse parâmetro como indicador da capacidade aeróbica de cavalos.
