Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that results in the destruction of teeth and their supporting tissues with subsequent tooth loss. The replacement of missing teeth for implant-supported restorations has proven to be a highly predictable treatment method with good long-term prognosis. However, some consequences of tooth loss prevents dental implant placement in an ideal position, where regenerative procedures are necessary for this type of rehabilitation. Less invasive procedures such as conventional prosthesis emerge as a therapeutic option in cases where there is enough bone structure for implants and patient´s non-acceptance for invasive procedures. Thus, this paper aims to present the resolution of rehabilitation through a noninvasive and multidisciplinary treatment. One female patient referred to the clinic presented maladaptive bilateral mandibular fixed prostheses, endodontic lesions, gingival recession, and root sensitivity. For proper resolution of this case, an association among osseointegrated implants, fixed partial prosthesis, tooth extraction, and aesthetic periodontal procedures with the use of subepithelial connective tissue graft was proposed. After two years, the patient shows excellent aesthetics and chewing. Within the limits of this scenario, this paper discusses the various factors that may affect the choice of a particular treatment modality for the rehabilitation of edentulous single spaces.

This report shows the resolution of a case study whose aim was promote the aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of upper left hemi-arch over endosseous and needle implant prostheses. To improve the position of the needle implants, we performed the bucco-palatal bending of needles splinting them with composite resin; we removed the screwed implant prosthesis in the regions of the premolars (24 and 25) and molar (26). The mini-abutments of the last two implants were replaced, and in the first premolar and canine, we used cemented abutments due to implant angulation having planned soldering because of implant size and contact with one needle implant that could interfere with intimate contact bone/implant damaging biomechanics. Pick-up impressions were performed with an open tray, using a retractor cord in the needle implants and respective transfer copings. Therefore, models were related on semi-adjustable articulator after a face-bow recording and interocclusal indexes. After working cast fabrication and try-in of infra-structures, these were adjusted and related into the articulator again. Then, after ceramic build-up, adjustments, finishing, and torque, chemically-activated resin cement was applied on units 21 to 24. At the end of the case, we concluded that a good aesthetic and functional rehabilitation depends on thorough knowledge of techniques for each clinical situation.

Gingival recession is a common deformity that affects a large number of people. This condition is frequently associated with esthetic complains and may lead to dental hypersensitivity. Thus, various surgical procedures have been proposed to provide root coverage. Since the 1950s, free and pedicle gingival grafts have been greatly used for treating gingival recession. However, after the 1985 Miller gingival recession classification, and with the development of other appropriated techniques that use subepithelial connective tissue grafts, gingival recession treatments have resulted in more predictable outcomes, especially with respect to Class I and II sites, i.e., in the absence of interproximal bone loss. This article reported the importance of aesthetical periodontal treatment in the prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with a class I gingival recession with 3 mm of vertical extension in the superior canine. The treatment plan consisted of root coverage using subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) associated with construction of new prosthesis.

The design of implant structure is still a questioning to the professionals, while their variations can to influence of stress distribution favorably to bone. Therefore, the aim of study was to review addressing the topic of osseointegrated implants design establishing answers for the patient oral rehabilitation, according variations existing on the market. It was conducted a detailed search strategy by the PubMed/ Medline and Bireme, it was used as descriptors: “dental implants cylinder”; “dental implants thread”; “dental implants geometry”, until May 2014. From 798 articles, after review were selected 18 articles and 1 specific area book. The results were divided to compare design of implant and threads for further discussion and conclusions. Thus, conclude that the threads implants are best used because of its advantages with respect to the stress distribution and stability primary. The variations of the differents types of threads, have influence for stress distribution.

The osseointegrated implants created a progress in oral rehabilitation. But this rehabilitation may be complicated by anatomical conditions, mainly in maxillary anterior region, where a higher aesthetic is required. The aim of study was to report one case which the use of angled abutments were necessary to allow the correct positioning of the prosthesis and also the prosthetic reconstruction with gingival-colored ceramic to provide best aesthetic result for patient. The aesthetic and functional results provided greater patient satisfaction with her smile. The correct planning is essential to provide to patient the best aesthetic and functional results, being necessary the use of abutments and gingival-colored ceramic to reach better results. Uniterms: dental implantacion, esthetics, mouth rehabilitation.

Removable partial denture improve functional and aesthetic failures caused by partial loss of teeth, however specific characteristics of each patients can determine the success of treatment, especially with regard to the support of the prosthesis, which may depend on teeth, the combination of teehe and mucosa and currently associated with the dental implants. The aim of this study is report a case in which there was the need of the association, to enable better aesthetics and self-esteem to the patients. After implant placement and fabrication of prosthetic patient reported satisfaction with the rehabilitation treatment, improving their quality of life.

Zirconia abutments are used to obtain satisfactory aesthetic results in implant fixed anterior prostheses when metal abutments promote a grayish mucosal discoloration of the peri-implant soft tissues. However, there is a lack of studies to confirm the clinical performance of the peri-implant soft tissues surrouding zirconia abutments. This study described a case report of a patient treated with implant fixed all-ceramic crown made out on zirconia abutment after 3 years of followup. A 47-year-old female patient was admitted to the dental clinic (Aracatuba Dental School) complaining about the fracture of her implant fixed single crown in the region of the left lateral incisor. The patient chose the replacement of the fractured prosthesis for an allceramic crown. After 3 years of follow-up it was observed that maintenance of the aesthetic results and the peri-implant soft tissue without any inflammation or gingival recessions. Within the limitations of a case report, it can be conclude that zirconia abutments is a effective rehabilitation treatment because it preserves the aesthetics and function through the maintenance of peri-implant tissues.

The short dental implants represent an option of previsible treatment, its main indication lives in the possibility of avoiding techniques surgical invasive. The literature in the display that the geometry of the implants is of vital importance, combined with wide diameters and surface treatment, mainly when the bone quality is unfavorable. The mechanical resistance can be enlarged, increasing the number of implants and being used the spliting among them. A rigorous protocol prosthodontist should be following with intention of to avoid oblique loads and to control habits parafuncionais. We aimed at to discuss, through a wide bibliographical revision the short dental implants, their characteristics and indications, giving emphasis to the aspects biomechanic of the same ones. Material and Method: The bases given: Pubmed, ISI and Dentistry Oral Science from 1990 to 2009, were consulted to identify researches related to the length of the dental implants, with emphasis to the considered short and the biomechanics related to the same ones. They were located 568 articles, being selected 69 that gathered the inclusion criteria. Result: Among these 69 selected, 26 articles agreed the evidence level. Conclusion: Inside of the limits of appraised data, it can be concluded that the short implants represent a good treatment alternative, especially for cases with reduced bone bed. However a rigorous indication protocol and use should be followed for warranty of the success of the treatment.
