Anemia and hemoglobinopathies in pregnant women attended in a public hospital

Objectives: to identify the demographic profile and frequency of anemia and hemoglobinopathies, as a basis for future implementation of actions aimed at pregnant women in the public health domain. Method: this is a cross-sectional study developed with pregnant women attended in a university hospital at Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Blood samples were collected for the erythrogram analysis for detection of anemia and selective and specific tests for abnormal hemoglobin. The patients regarded as indigenous and mentally ill, as well as inmates, were excluded from the research, as they represent a vulnerable population which needs a cohort different from that of the sample. For data collection, a particular questionnaire was used. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), under the Protocol 873/2006. Results: of the 215 pregnant women under study, 20% were adolescents; 36.3% had incomplete primary education; 53.0% were non-Caucasian; 43.3% were from Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil; and 21.1% were of European descent. 17.7% had some type of anemia and, in the evaluation of hemoglobinopathies, 4.7% of patients were detected with some abnormal hemoglobin, with the following frequencies: 3.3% with HbAS; 0.9% with HbAC; and 0.5% with intermediate β-thalassemia. Conclusion: the frequencies of anemia and hemoglobinopathy found in these pregnant women showed the importance of early diagnosis, revealing indicators able to provide a basis for preventive and assistance actions for adequate clinical monitoring, reducing maternal and neonatal morbimortality in the public health services. Análise estrutural do suporte de pastilha de grafite para lubrificação de roda ferroviária

This study aims to structurally evaluate a support of graphite pastille for the lubrication of railway wheels. The proper lubrication of wheel flanges of the railway extends the life of this component, so it is very important that this occurs lubrication to reduce the costs involved in railway maintenance. To prepar the evaluation structural will be used to International Electrotechnical Comission standard (IEC 61373) establishing which load cases should be applied to this component. The applied loads on the support (accordance with IEC) are random accelerations and accelerations due to shocks, thus simulating the conditions that exist along the route of the train. The structural analyzes are performed by the finite element method, with the aid of the Cosmos software. Thus, it is possible to determine the stresses acting on the support, and so the allowable stresses compared with the standard proposed by the AISC. The stress in the structural analyzes are lower than allowable therefore considered for the configuration presented, unexpected structural problems

A redução de vogais no português: estudo de uma amostra do PE em comparação com o PB

This study aims to verify the reduction phenomenon and/or disappearance of vowels, especially unstressed vowels in PE compared to the PB, obtained by analysis of the recording of an oral reading sample of the Mar Português poem, by Fernando Pessoa, made by informants of the two variants. The noticeable difference in pronunciation of the informants, with any possibility of reaching up to no understanding of European pronunciation by Brazilian speakers motivated the development of an experiment that allowed us to compare the duration of vowels produced in the two variants. By isolating and measuring the vowels at Praat audio analysis program, this study was to confirm the reduction and, in extreme cases, the disappearance of unstressed vowels in PE, a phenomenon described in Mateus and D'Andrade (2000)

A brasilidade no jornalismo de Revista Nacional: uma análise do discurso das revistas Veja e Época na copa do mundo de futebol de 2014

O presente trabalho buscará verificar a noção (ou as noções) de brasilidade no jornalismo de revista nacional - e como essas noções contribuem para a construção (e a reafirmação) de determinados discursos acerca da cultura e da identidade brasileira. Analisaremos os discursos das revistas Veja e Época em textos (veiculados entre novembro de 2013 e novembro de 2014) a respeito da Copa do Mundo de Futebol de 2014. A pesquisa partirá de fundamentos da Análise do Discurso (AD) Francesa e de uma concepção intercultural de sociedade (que enxerga as relações sociais como processos de negociação de conflitos culturais entre os grupos sociais). Pretende-se mostrar de que forma os discursos das revistas repercutiram a noção de brasilidade -se de maneira homogeneizadora, ou se de maneira plural- nos textos a respeito da organização do país para o megaevento, bem como nas reportagens a respeito do desenvolvimento do torneio em si. Indicaremos a influência da ideologia na produção discursiva (textual e imagética) dessas revistas quando abordam aspectos da cultura e da identidade brasileira nos textos sobre o Mundial - especialmente, quando tratam de nossa alteridade, a partir de uma perspectiva hegeliana de inferioridade da cultura latina em relação à cultura europeia. Ademais, indicar-se-ão algumas noções de brasilidade construídas pelos principais nomes da historiografia nacional do século XX - noções, essas, que revivem no discurso jornalístico sobre o Brasil e os brasileiros

Um passeio pelos bosques ficcionais de Antonio Tabucchi

The Italian writer Antonio Tabucchi (Pisa-1943, Lisbon-2012) is considered by the critic as one of the most representative voices in the contemporary European literature. The Literature, according to Tabucchi, exerts a fundamental role in society and it, still according to the writer, must cause disquietude, evoke doubts, raise questions and not tranquilize people’s mind. Thereby, it’s noticed that it’s one of the reasons why the tabucchian narrative incessantly dialogues with Luigi Pirandello’s and Fernando Pessoa's poetics, establishing a great fictional game in wich the people, the truths, the history and the world are shown, at the least, duplicated.

Eça de Queirós na Gazeta de Notícias (Rio de Janeiro): a função social do jornal

There will be a review on the collaboration of Eça de Queirós in Gazeta de Notícias (Rio de Janeiro-1880-1897), written directly to the Brazilian public. In some of these texts Eça makes reflections on the mediation that the newspaper plays in society, particularly in southern Europe. We believe that in these texts there are manifestations and traits of doctrinal-programmatic nature, metalitterary aspects and also a kind of history of occidental press. These press texts are now gathered in Textos de Imprensa IV – da Gazeta de Notícias, which includes the volume critical edition of the works of Eça de Queirós, coordinated by Carlos Reis. The study of these texts will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of his fiction and journalistic works.

Televisão e mídias digitais na América Latina: um cenário em construção

The text is the initial result of a project called Global iTV, Interactive and systems Hybrid TV: a new advanced scheme for future services and applications in a global environment, contemplated by Call MCTI / CNPq 13/2012 – EUBrazil Cooperation Program in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) which has as its central theme the development of a standard that enables interoperability between the various digital TV systems operating jointly, exchanging and using information. Thus, using bibliographical and documentary research, the article goes on to demonstrate how this perspective panorama is drawing from the advent of digital television and the use of technology in Latin America, seeking to identify similarities, differences, problems and solutions arising from the use and consumption of digitizing television signal in the region. The results demonstrate the importance of media convergence, but point out that there are still large sections of the population on the margin of the Digital Society and the benefits provided by digital networks and that poverty and poor education are important contributions to this scenario.

Educação e cooperação na Eurosocial

A EUROsociAL se estruturou e se apresenta como uma rede de cooperação social, de iniciativa da Comissão Europeia para atuar nos países da América Latina em intercâmbio de experiências, em cinco áreas que incidem diretamente em políticas públicas: educação, trabalho, saúde, fiscalização e justiça. Neste estudo nos delimitamos a analisar a cooperação estabelecida no âmbito da educação. Investigamos o papel da educação no programa de cooperação da EUROsociAL para compreender se a concepção pedagógica está refém ou não da dinâmica de poder alinhada na configuração econômica do neoliberalismo. Estudamos o contexto histórico em que surge esse tipo de proposta de integração considerando que o processo de formação das nações latino-americanas aconteceu associado ao empreendimento colonizador europeu. A EUROsociAL propõe uma integração entre os continentes ou algo que vá além disso? Qual é o interesse dessa rede? Trata-se de uma forma de compensação pelos efeitos do tipo de colonização na América-Latina? Que articulações existem entre propósitos de cooperação e programas educacionais? Havendo um investimento na integração entre os continentes, na questão pedagógica, qual é a sua proposta e seu interesse nessa escolha? Analisamos a relação entre o movimento internacional de reforma da educação no mundo e a pedagogia na EUROsociAL, com o foco na formulação do termo cooperação incidindo diretamente na formulação das políticas públicas dos países participantes
