Avaliação quali-quantitativa das parcelas escoadas, percoladas e armazenadas em instalação experimental piloto de telhado verde extensivo com diferentes inclinações

This study investigated the effect of slope and antecedent soil moisture on the water depth stored and percolated on extensive green roofs built in pilot scale. For this purpose, slopes of 10, 20 and 30% were investigated. Moisture was measured before and after each test to determine the differential moisture (ΔU). A rainfall simulator was designed and tested; the best arrangement presents a Christiansen Uniformity Coefficient of 56%. The results yielded that the slopes of 10% presented the highest values of water depth stored (59,88%), water depth percolated (77,15%), the slope of 30% presented the highest water depth drained (48,22%.) and there was no correlation between slope, water depth stored, water depth percolated and ΔU. It was verified the effect of dilution on the modules i10% between water depth percolated and apparent color (0.71%) in i20% between water depth drained and apparent color (-0.748%) and in the module i30% between water depth drained and turbidity (-0.76%) and water depth drained and apparent color (-0.93%). In i10% there was high correlation between pH and water depth percolated (0.94%) and between water depth drained and pH (0.71%). Avaliação psicométrica da escala de atitudes em relação à estatística

RESUMO: O objetivo do estudo foi estimar a validade e confiabilidade da Escala de atitudes em relação à Estatística (EAE) quando aplicada a estudantes de Ciências Farmacêuticas. A amostra de 253 estudantes foi subdividida em duas partes. Sessenta por cento da amostra foi utilizada para explorar a estrutura fatorial e 40% para confirmá-la. Para verificar a reprodutibilidade da escala a mesma foi aplicada em duplicata a 40 estudantes. Aplicou-se o Teste de esfericidade de Bartlett e o índice Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO). A extração dos fatores foi realizada pela Análise de Componentes Principais. Realizou-se rotação ortogonal Varimax. Calculou-se o Coeficiente alfa de Cronbach (α) e o Coeficiente de Correlação Intraclasse (ρ). Realizou-se análise fatorial confirmatória. Elaborou-se um modelo hierárquico de segunda ordem (MHSO). O teste de esfericidade de Bartlett e o índice KMO foram excelentes (χ 2 =1835,815, p<0,001; KMO=0,935). Verificou-se dois fatores com valores próprios acima de 1 (λ=9,748; λ=2,086) explicando 59,2% da variância total. A questão 2 foi removida. Observou-se excelente consistência interna e reprodutibilidade. O modelo fatorial apresentou índices de qualidade de ajustamento bons (λ=0,59-0,86, χ 2 /gl=1,691, CFI=0,919, GFI=0,804, RMSEA=0,079). A validade discriminante dos fatores foi adequada. A EAE apresentou estrutura bifatorial na amostra com níveis de validade e confiabilidade adequados.

The respiratory metabolism of the castes of two leaf cutting ants, Atta laevigata (F. Smith, 1858) and Atta sexdens rubropilosa forel, 1908

1. 1. The respiration of the different castes of two species of leaf-cutting ants, Atta laevigata and Atta sexdens rubropilosa was measured in both workers and sexed forms. 2. 2. The respiratory rates (μl O2/mg(live)/hr) were, in A. laevigata, 0.644 (gardeners), 0.594 (cutters), 0.354 (soldiers), 0.233 (males) and 0.085 (females); in A. s. rubropilosa, 0.803 (gardeners), 0.748 (cutters), 0.510 (soldiers), 0.375 (males) and 0.274 (females), significantly higher than A. laevigata. 3. 3. All castes considered, the b-values of the equation relating oxygen consumption and weight in A. laevigata (0.53) were significantly different from that in A. s. rubropilosa (0.73). © 1981.

Mirabegron relaxes urethral smooth muscle by a dual mechanism involving β3-adrenoceptor activation and α1-adrenoceptor blockade

Mirabegron is the first β3-adrenoceptor (AR) agonist approved for treatment of overactive bladder syndrome (OAB). This study aimed to investigate the effects of β3-adrenoceptor (AR) agonist mirabegron in mouse urethra. The possibility that mirabegron exerts α1-AR antagonism was also tested in rat smooth muscle preparations presenting α1A- (vas deferens and prostate), α1D- (aorta) and α1B-AR (spleen). Functional assays were carried out in mouse and rat isolated tissues. Competition assays for the specific binding of [(3) H]Prazosin to membrane preparations of HEK 293 cells expressing each of the human α1-ARs, as well as β-AR mRNA expression and cyclic AMP measurements in mouse urethra were performed. Mirabegron produced concentration-dependent urethral relaxations that were right shifted by the selective β3-AR antagonist L 748,337, but unaffected by β1- and β2-AR antagonists (atenolol and ICI 118,551, respectively). Mirabegron-induced relaxations were enhanced by the phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor rolipram, and this agonist stimulated cAMP synthesis. Mirabegron also produced rightward shifts in urethral contractions induced by the α1-AR agonist phenylephrine. Schild regression analysis revealed that mirabegron behaves as a competitive antagonist of α1-AR in urethra, vas deferens and prostate (α1A-AR, pA2  ≅ 5.6) and aorta (α1D-AR, pA2  ≅ 5.4), but not in spleen (α1B-AR). The affinities estimated for mirabegron in functional assays were consistent with those estimated in radioligand binding with human recombinant α1A- and α1D-ARs (pKi ≅ 6.0). The effects of mirabegron in urethral smooth muscle are the result of β3-AR agonism together with α1A / α1D-AR antagonism.
