This study quantifies fifth year medical students' knowledge after their participation in a basic clinical integration activity of psychiatry and pharmacology and investigates their opinions on the importance of the activity. A quali-quantitative study was performed using pre- and post-test assessment (multiple choice) and linguistic content analysis using the Discourse of the Collective Subject (DCS) technique. A significant increase in the percentage of correct answers in the post-test assessment was found compared to pre-test (p <0.001). The central ideas obtained from the DCS content analysis were: very relevant activity; expansion of the activity to other internships; difficulty in basic disciplines; application of cognitive assessment; and teacher's active participation in discussions. These results suggest that integration between pharmacology and the practical intern activities in psychiatry allowed pharmacological concepts to be broadened, rendering the learning meaningful. Although students identified the need for better organization of the activity, its the level of acceptance was verbalised through the suggestion that it could be extended to the other fifth year internships.

There can be several indicators of violence in society. However, in no other health unit such violence acquires visibility as in emergency. This study aimed to examine whether there is divergence between the history of medical consultation and diagnosis of physical aggressions in the emergency unit. A cross-sectional study was conducted in an emergency unit in the city of Araçatuba, state of São Paulo, Brazil, based on medical records, considering data on patients, lesions, history, diagnosis and treatment. Out of 133,537 visits, only 153 were recorded as physical aggressions, and 161 informed violence in the history of the consultation; 59.6% were male, 60.6% were between 20 and 44 years old. Excoriations, pain and injury predominated. There were no associations between state violence in the diagnosis and the characteristics of patients and visits (schedule, routing, gender, age). The conclusion is that in most cases violence reported in the history of the consultation was not mentioned in the diagnosis of injuries. The characteristics of care and patients were not related to the fact that professionals diagnosed the case as violence.

This work aims to synthesize the manganese and zinc ferrite, by the polymeric precursor method, in order to obtain materials with appropriate characteristics for the application in medical diagnosis techniques. The manganese and zinc ferrite powders with the composition of Mn(1-x)ZnxFe2O4, where x=0,23, were prepared and calcined in air at different times and temperatures. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) data show that the sample calcined at 400°C crystallize as ferrite (monophase), but in an inverted spinel structure (high content of iron occupying manganese tetrahedral site and manganese occupying the iron octahedral site). The samples calcined at temperatures between 600°C and 900°C shows the secondary phase of hematite and the sample calcined at 1100oC shows to be monophase in ferrite with normal spinel structure. The monophase powders of ferrite showed a reduction in the surface area and an increasing in the pore size for higher calcination temperatures. The magnetic analysis show that the sample calcined at 400°C presents satisfactory magnetization at room temperature, however, it behaves as diamagnetic material at low temperatures (10K). The powder containing hematite, without the partial substitution of iron ions by manganese, showed to have low transition temperature, and consequently low magnetization at room temperature. The hematite, when partially substituted, provides materials with irregular magnetization at the saturation region. The powder calcined at 1100°C shows high magnetization either at room temperature or low temperature (10K)

Along with the advance of technology, in terms of the expansion of medical exams that uses the ionizing radiation for diagnosis, there is also the concern about quality control for maintaining quality in radiographic imaging and for delivering low dose to the patient. Based on the Federal Order 453 of the Secretariat of Health Surveillance, which takes account of the practical and justification of individual medical exposures, the optimization of radiological protection, limitation of individual dose, and the prevention of accidents, were done through this paper radiodiagnostic tests on medical equipment in order to accept it or not, according to SVS-453. Along with the help and support of P&R Consulting and Medical Physics Marilia, SP, were made Quality Control and Radiometric Control in equipment from various cities across the state of São Paulo. The equipment discussed in this work is classified as conventional X-ray. According to the Federal Order SVS-453, the quality control in the program of quality assurance should include the following minimum set of constancy tests, with following minimum frequency: biennial tests for representative values of dose given to the patients of radiography and CT performed in the service; annual tests for accuracy of the indicator tube voltage (kVp), accuracy of exposure time, half-value layer, aligning the central axis of the beam of x-ray tube, performance (mGy / mA.min.m²), linearity of the rate of kerma on air with the mAs, reproducibility of the kerma on air rates, reproducibility of the automatic exposure, focal spot size, integrity of accessories and clothing for individual protection; semiannually for collimation system accuracy; weekly for temperature processing system and sensitometry processing system. For the room Radiometric Survey it was done a sketch...(Complete abstract click electronic access below)

This qualitative research was performed with the goal of investigating the contributions of theoretical and methodological perspectives in the alphabetization process, aiming to train proficient writers of texts with communicative function. Hence, such were the goals established for this research: giving a retrospective look on the synthetic and analytic methods of teaching literacy; verifying the possibilities and limits of theoretical and methodological approaches of acquiring the ability to write and identifying the teachers’ ideas concerning basic concepts (such as literacy, text and textual genres) imbued in the teaching of writing; and establishing which activities they develop in the course of teaching whether the pedagogical practices of the teacher observed contributed to the formation of students who were capable of producing significant texts of diverse genres, suitable to the objectives, to the readers, and to the context of the circulation of texts. The research was done in a public elementary school, in a 2nd grade class of the city of Jaú. Subjects of the research were four teachers and twenty-eight children. For this work, two instruments were used for data collecting: a questionnaire and direct observation, registered in research diaries. Among the observations made were that, although there are many studies on literacy, the practices actually adopted in class are empirical in nature and do not contribute to the process of developing individual writing or reading skills at all; rather, it is only valued the ability of establishing relations between phonemes and graphemes; literacy teachers do not have adequate knowledge of concepts of literacy, teaching, text and textual genres, valuing only one methodological theory and disregarding other contributions on the field of text production

Over the years is a significant number of researchers consider constructivism as a methodology above the rest and that can be applied to any educational context, and is therefore the ideal methodology in the present moment. However, as opposed to this idea, there is a growing body of research that consider the methodological pluralism how best to teach in class, precisely because it is not just one, but several methodological practices which vary according to the educational needs of students. This exhibit features four lessons presented to students of 6th and 8th grade of elementary school II, two lessons using experimental activities, a lesson using Demo activity and a lesson using texts textbooks. In all four lessons there was a collection of data on students' understanding about the physical concepts covered by each of the above four lessons either through questionnaires, video recording, and more. Based on Vygotsky's theory of social interaction and constructs Wertsch (1984), this article raises important discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of these three methodologies within the pluralistic proposal

This article is focused in the understanding of how can social classes influence in prenatal, throughout the patient medical relationship as well as the many aspects surrounding. In the first chapter, reflected about the adherence to prenatal and considerations in gestational period when dealing with public health treatment offer by SUS. Next chapter, patient medical relationship is addressed as a relationship classes, over questioning how this relationship use to be in front of disadvantaged extracts, focused in prenatal. In the third chapter, the patient medical relationship is analyzed throughout the patient vision, pointing the many factors that can induce the success of a therapeutic. In the last chapter, there are reflections about whereby health professionals upgrading, as well as the improve of basic health care networks are necessary to a larger prenatal adherence.
