São revisados os trabalhos que, a partir de 1975,estudaram a ocorrência de manifestações neurológicas centrais e periféricas em trabalhadores ocupacionalmente expostos ao chumbo, que apresentavam níveis de exposição supostamente insuficientes para causarem Saturnismo. A partir da revisão realizada é sugerido que os limites de tolerância biológica utilizados em nosso meio para firmar o diagnóstico de intoxicação profissional pelo chumbo devam ser revistos. Tal sugestão baseia-se na existência de evidências bem estabelecidas que apontam disfunções da condução nervosa periférica e central, além de alterações de várias funções nervosas superiores, em trabalhadores profissionalmente expostos ao chumbo que apresentam indicadores de efeito biológico e indicadores de exposição inferiores aos limites estabelecidos pela legislação brasileira.

Este estudo aborda a avaliação do exercício da prática profissional (EAPP) no curso de enfermagem da Faculdade de Medicina de Marília (Famema); tem como objetivo analisar a concepção de avaliação do professor que realizou o EAPP com estudantes de primeira a quarta séries do curso. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, modalidade análise de conteúdo e identificação da seguinte temática: as ambigüidades do processo de avaliação. Constata-se que a concepção do professor na avaliação no EAPP aproxima-se muito da abordagem de competência dialógica, que articula e integra resultados, atributos e contexto em situações distintas, com diferentes formas de realizar tarefas essenciais para a formação do enfermeiro. Contradições no processo avaliativo entre os professores, porém, estão presentes e necessitam ser constantemente trabalhadas.

INTRODUÇÃO: numa época em que o mercado odontológico exige que os serviços prestados possuam qualidade diferenciada, a utilização adequada de profissionais auxiliares constitui uma ferramenta importantíssima para se obter aumento de produtividade no consultório. Para tanto, a correta utilização dessa ferramenta exige que a equipe auxiliar seja tecnicamente capacitada e envolvida num ambiente onde as funções delegadas estejam fundamentadas nos preceitos éticos e nas bases legais que regem a profissão. OBJETIVO: identificação do perfil técnico da equipe auxiliar, analisando-se a percepção destes profissionais quanto ao seu papel nas atividades pertinentes à clínica ortodôntica, com base na legislação vigente. METODOLOGIA: o presente levantamento foi desenvolvido com base num questionário aplicado a todos os profissionais que auxiliam diretamente os ortodontistas regularmente inscritos no CRO-GO, que atendem nas cidades de Goiânia e Aparecida de Goiânia (GO), no período de maio a julho de 2003. RESULTADOS E CONCLUSÕES: verificou-se que diversos procedimentos não estabelecidos nas normas que regem a delegação de funções em Odontologia estão sendo executados pela equipe auxiliar, demonstrando que o conteúdo dessa legislação está sendo ignorado ou descumprido.

OBJECTIVE: As a result of overall growing population's life expectancy, it has become increasingly important to ensure not only that the elderly have greater longevity but also happiness and life satisfaction. The objective of the study was to describe factors associated with life satisfaction among elderly people.METHODS: Three hundred and sixty-five older persons, selected by means of random stratified proportional sampling, were interviewed in 2003. The instrument used was a combination of Flanagan and Nahas questionnaires and WHOQOL-100. There were added questions concerning physical activity extracted from International Physical Activity Questionnaire, questions regarding reported morbidity and emotional assessment, sociodemographic condition and an open question. The level of life satisfaction was measured using a scale from one to seven by means of visual recognition. Hierarchical logistic regression analysis was performed including life satisfaction as a dependent variable and those included the final questionnaire, in blocks, as independent variables.RESULTS: Most elderly were generally rather satisfied with life as well as with specific aspects. The level of life satisfaction was associated with: comfort at home (OR=11.82; 95% Cl: 3.27; 42.63); appraising leisure as quality of life (OR=3.82; 95% Cl: 2.28; 6.39); waking up feeling well in the morning (OR=2.80; 95% Cl: 1.47; 5.36); not reporting loneliness (OR=2.68; 95% Cl: 1.54; 4.65); having three or more daily meals (OR=2.63; 95% Cl: 1.75; 5.90) and not reporting Diabetes Mellitus (OR-2.63; 95% Cl: 1.3 1; 5.27).CONCLUSIONS: Most elderly in the study were satisfied with life and their satisfaction was associated with situations related to being well and not being diabetic.

This qualitative study aimed to investigate the methodological perspective, the contents, possible outcomes and the role of Physical Education professionals in multidisciplinary staff of Recreation in hospitals. The study consisted of a survey applied to 20 adults of both sexes, volunteers, working in multidisciplinary team at a hospital in Leme, SP. Data were descriptively analyzed through content analysis technique, indicating that the time of engagement of that professional in that team was on average 12.8 months. Physical Education Professionals act mainly with joy faced the patients, making them well accepted. In relation to the contents used by these professionals, toys were the most mentioned, followed by books, puppets, role play and music. The team noticed some positive changes in patients after Physical Education Professional performances, and his engagement in the health team was considered very important, highlighting the urgency of new shares to enlarge this Professional participation in health multidisciplinary teams.

The Gymnastics, in its extensive historical background, were part of the reasoning in the area now known as Physical Education. Deepening the knowledge from the historical Gymnastics during his education is extremely important for professional performance in Physical Education, as this knowledge can serve as a tool for the current configuration of the Gymnastics. Thus, this study presents a review of the literature that you want the frontline of the importance of historical knowledge Gymnastics during his education, is looking ahead to fetch reflect the current format of the same from an informed historically built as it is from the preservation of the knowledge that will be legitimized new avenues for the development of Gymnastics.

Background: To assess satisfaction with the weekly transdermal contraceptive patch, compared to the previous contraceptive method. Adhesion, cycle control, safety and efficacy were secondary outcomes. Methods: A multicenter, open label, descriptive study. Subjects received the weekly transdermal contraceptive patch for 6 cycles. At the baseline and after the 1 st, 3 rd and 6 th cycles, satisfaction with the method was assessed. The contraceptive efficacy was assessed by the Pearl Index and by life table analysis. Results: An ITT analysis was performed with 494 subjects. At the endpoint, 95.3% of women were satisfied with the patch compared to the previous method; 59.5%, 58.0% and 63.2% of women reported improvement in the physical and emotional well-being, and pre-menstrual symptoms, respectively. Pre-menstrual symptoms frequency decreased from 85.0% (CI 95%: 80.8-87.4%) to 55.0% (CI 95%: 49.9-66.0%). There was a significant increase in hemoglobin levels, and also a significant decrease in total serum cholesterol and tryglicerides.. There were no significant adverse events. The adjusted Pearl Index was 1.1 pregnancies per 100 women-years. Conclusions: The weekly contraceptive transdermal patch is a safe and effective method, and there was a high rate of satisfaction with its use among brazilian women. The patch was associated to a good cycle control, with easiness of use, improvement in the physical and emotional well-being and improvement in the premenstrual symptoms and lipid profile. © Copyright Moreira Jr. Editora. The aim of this research was to describe the process of professional education of judo coaches in Brazil. In order to do this, documental sources were used as means of data collection. Results showed that highly regarded institutions such as Confederação Brasileira de Judô, Federação Paulista de Judô, and Liga Paulista de Judô all support educational structures that resembles the apprenticeship system, that is, education which provide mostly employment-preparation skills for trained labour, in detriment of education on the application of scientific principles aiming at improving sporting performance. In conclusion, Brazilian judo seems to be kept away from the academic formation model and linked to the know how to do traditions. © FTCD/CIDESD.

Within the proposed framework for this issue of the journal História da Historiografia, the present article is a concise report on the trajectory of a university professor of history. The author writes on the obtainment of his degree at the USP, his participation in the beginning of undergraduate and graduate courses in the interior of the state of São Paulo, including the experience of taking part in the beginnings of the public university Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). The author also discusses aspects of his academic and institutional life, and reports on the process of his insertion in an established historiographical line of work. It can be introductorily noted that the reader will not always find a linear chronological order, due to the multifaceted nature of the activities of a university professor of history. An additional note is that I have not made complete bibliographical citations, as I understand that the readers are specialists in the historians' craft.
