Em busca da formação social brasileira: marxismo e vida acadêmica

O texto trata da articulação entre o nacional-desenvolvimentismo presente na produção cultural da década de 1950 e a pauta, essencialmente acadêmica e científica, proposta pela chamada escola de sociologia uspiana, sob o comando de Florestan Fernandes. Pretende-se demonstrar que, a despeito da aparente incongurência das duas proposições, na conjuntura de radicalização política e ideológica que se desenvolveu no período e em virtude da leitura de Marx efetivada pelos discípulos de Fernandes, ocorreu um deslocamento desse grupo para uma posição de esquerda que o aproximou, ainda que criticamente, dos temas hegemônicos à época.

A trágica sustentabilidade em um mundo sem transcendência

As autoras discutem a questão da sustentabilidade a partir da reportagem de um casamento realizado na Avenida Paulista e definido como ecologicamente correto. Elas demonstram como esse acontecimento está contido numa escala mais ampla. Argumentam que a racionalidade capitalista presente na lógica da competitividade e do desperdício é a mesma no comando do ideário da sustentabilidade do movimento ambientalista. Munidas de um conjunto de dados referentes à ação de grupos legais e ilegais, mostram como a prática da sustentabilidade abre novas e lucrativas frentes de acumulação enquanto contribui para o agravamento dos danos irreversíveis ao meio-ambiente. Concluem que, além da impossibilidade do modelo capitalista deter o atual processo de destruição das condições de vida no planeta, somente a associação internacional dos movimentos sociais emancipadores poderá criar ações para uma radical mudança de rumo.

O final de uma guerra e suas questões logísticas: o conde D'Eu na Guerra do Paraguai (1869-1870)

Este livro, de Braz Batista Vas, discorre sobre a logística montada pelas forças militares terrestres brasileiras para suprir as demandas do período final do maior conflito bélico já ocorrido na América do Sul. Enfoca os últimos dois anos da Guerra do Paraguai, de fins de 1868 a 1870, após a saída de Duque de Caxias e a transferência do comando para o conde d'Eu, que o manteria até o encerramento da campanha. Vas procura compreender e explicar a estrutura militar organizada pelo Império para o conflito, deflagrado no fim de 1864 e travado em território paraguaio a partir de 1866 sob condições extremamente desgastantes. Além de discutir o comando militar do conde d'Eu, que era casado com a princesa Isabel e membro influente da corte, o autor analisa a ação diplomática e por vezes até militar de José Maria Paranhos, futuro visconde do Rio Branco, assim como a interação entre os dois homens diante dos entraves logísticos enfrentados pelo Brasil para dar fim à guerra. A obra mostra que esses entraves afetaram ora a intensidade e as estratégias da ação militar, ora a ação diplomática brasileira com reflexos profundos na dinâmica política daquele período.

Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831) foi um generalprussiano que teve como um de seus principaislegados uma obra clássica, “Da guerra”, umareferência obrigatória sobre o fenômeno bélico.Escrita provavelmente entre 1812 e 1831, foipublicada postumamente graças ao esforço de suamulher Marie von Clausewitz (ARON, 1986a); foi oprincipal resultado de experiência e enormeelaboração de vasta obra do general prussiano,soldado do exército prussiano desde 1792 ecombatente nas guerras napoleônicas semprecontrariamente à França comandada por NapoleãoBonaparte. mesmo quando a Prússia se aliou aNapoleão após ser derrotada. Naquele momento,Clausewitz renunciou à sua patente como oficial noexército prussiano e se alistou no exército russo;desempenhou papel importante na retirada daPrússia da aliança pró-França quando o GrandArmée napoleônico bateu em retirada em suamalsucedida campanha na Rússia. Reintegrado aoexército prussiano e à sua patente, Clausewitzparticipou de teatros de operações secundários nasações decisivas até a derrota definitiva deNapoleão; suas convicções antinapoleônicas lhecustaram desconfiança e um preço muito caro: apartir de então, sua ascensão até o generalatorenderam-lhe posições secundárias eadministrativas sem comando de tropas, dentreelas, a direção da Academia Militar de Berlim. Electrical energy is present in the lives of all people and is extremely important that it be delivered to end users with plenty of quality, safety and low costs. The electric power substations are responsible for transmission and distribution of electricity generating sources to consumers, and with technological advances and the subsequent automation of same, the electricity began to be delivered with greater continuity and reliability. Protection systems in substations are largely responsible for making the electricity reaches the final consumer with quality, since their function is to prevent the spread of any type of failure occurred at any point of transmission to the load centers. These systems consist primarily by the current transformers and potential, by the protective relays and circuit breakers and switchgear. The processors send the necessary data to the relays and, if those detect any abnormality in the system, operate the opening command of the branch circuit breakers to isolate where the fault. Therefore, it is essential to better understand the operation of such equipment, as well as the overall system. This work aims to study the main substation equipment, current transformers and potential and, especially, protection relays, in order to obtain the advantages that automated systems can provide

Estudo e modelagem 3D de um cabeçote para um motor monocilíndrico, 400cc, 4 T

The cylinder head contains the combustion chamber for the air-fuel mixture and the intake and exhaust valves, the valve guide and the valve seat. The cylinder head also is a support for the camshaft and valve rocker. The holes where the spark plugs are connected are designed to fit the better place in the combustion chamber. The cylinder heads often are manufactured using materials such as aluminum and cast iron. The cooling fins located in the outside of the cylinder head are designed for a good heat transfer and therefore their dimensions and positioning are important. This work aims the calculation for a cylinder head to be installed in a 400 cc displacement, gasoline powered, four stroke, single cylinder engine. According to the displacement it will be analyzed the combustion chamber, the intake and exhaust valves, as well as the camshaft and rocker arms. This also a work to help to accomplish the design of a single cylinder engine, where the alternatives parts, cylinder block and crankcase are all already machined and assembled in this campus

Smart grids are the focus of major study today because of the necessity of modernization in electrical systems and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that increases global warming. Reaching the best deployment method, you must first of all know the current electrical system and how to use them for the benefit of this new technology. Preparing the action plan we should be aware of the main points of smart grids in each step of the electricity system - generation, transmission and distribution. Analyzed these topics, this work will focus on the first step in the implementation of the smart grids: the smart meters, tool which is already being implemented in Brazil. The main characteristics and applications of these devices, as well as their communication structure with the core distributors will be showed during the paper. Finally, we present a case study which will be discussed and analyzed based in the results obtained with the implementation of smart meters in the city of Vancouver, Canada, where we have a considerable savings already in the first year, with fully paying the initial investment and still have a profit

Diferença no número de técnicas e técnicos no voleibol: uma análise das categorias de base até o adulto

Voleyball is a sport that has gained an important contingent of public, achieving a growing visibility especially in recent years. Despite being a very democratic sport, as it is practiced by both men and women, it can be observed that there are differences when the analysis refers to who is in charge of the teams. So the purpose of this study was to analyze the presence of women in the country volleyball (coaches) from base categories to the professional adult, through a documental research. Data were collected from electronic documents, official websites and websites of federations teams. The results indicated that the number of women coaching volleyball athletes is minimal, revealing the difference between the professional treatment given to male and female genders. Therefore, it became clear that certain discrepancies are caused not only by lack of professionalism, but also by the cultural characteristics that still consider the place of women as domestic and not in the command of field sports

The technologies are advancing at a pace so expressive that allow the increase of the power quality from generation until the distribution to end customers. This improvement has been made possible through the automation of the energy that follows to a better quality of the energy provided, a lower energy supply disruptions and a very short recovery time. The trend of today and the near future is the distributed energy generation. To keep the automated control of the chain, the presence of Smart Grids is needed and that will be the most efficient and economical way to manage the entire system. Within this theme, is going to be necessary analyze the electric cars that promise to promote a more sustainable transport because it doesn’t uses fossil fuels, and more healthy because it does not emit pollutants into the atmosphere. The popularization of this type of vehicle is estimated to happen in a few decades and the case study analyzing its influence on the demand of the electrical system is something that will be very important in the near future.
