The issue of water scarcity, besides being a relevant and contemporary environmental problem, can be characterized as a social phenomenon, the result of inadequate cultural practices. As such it can be studied by Behavior Analysis, more specifically, from the point of view of selection by consequences. In this context, our objective was to identify if campaigns and programs of water conservation are consonant with Behavior Analysis’ principles on how to change and control individual behavior in the cultural dimension. Overall, data indicate the absence of contingent reinforcement on behavior of water waste and conservation and the presence of mentalistic practices, in contrast with the foundations of Behavior Analysis, especially with regard to the logic of selection by consequences.

The use of the adjective radical to identify the variety of behaviorism proposed by Skinner is current nowadays. However, historically, this qualifier was not exclusively applied to Skinner's proposal and its polysemy tends to generate inaccuracies in the interpretation of what characterizes Skinner's Radical Behaviorism. This article aims to clarify the most appropriate sense of radical when applied to Skinner's behaviorism by means of four articulated activities: (1) the description of the etymological origins of the word radical and its different meanings in Portuguese, Spanish and English, (2) a reconstruction and analysis of the evolution of a historical setting that culminated in the use of the term in the behaviorist context, (3) an analysis of the main meanings of radical when associated with behaviorism, (4) an examination of some ways in which the use of the term associated with behaviorism is consistent, and the current and future implications for Radical Behaviorism and Behavior Analysis in a scientific context.

This study evaluates seven higher learning practices performed on a subject of a Speech-language pathology course at São Paulo State. It was done with 31 sophomore students of a public university, with a 21-26 age range. Teaching practices were planned according to the Teaching plan of the Professor responsible for the subject, the recommendations of the National Curricular Directions of the Speech-language pathology undergraduate course and the theory assumptions of Behavior Analysis. The results showed that 394 teaching practices evaluations were performed by the students, 259 of them (66%) favorably and 135 (33%) unfavorably. The statement of the experience was the teaching practice better evaluated (70%) different from the interview (62%). This paper showed the potentialities and fragilities of each teaching practice performed and may contribute to Speech-language pathology teachers and other areas of teaching on the conception of the teaching plan.
