Introduction: The fluoridation surveillance in the public water supply came up with the need to develop mechanisms that would help society in the control of water quality. To perform reliable analysis, variables such as depth of the wells and pluvial variations should be subject of research and study. Objectives: To analyze the fluoride levels of deep wells in periods of rain and drought, corresponding to four brazilian cities and compare the results. Methodology: It was made the mapping of the water supply network and the identification of the sampling points according to the number of deep wells in each locality, selecting those who had the natural fluoride level. Three points were defined for each source of water supply, and the addresses were randomly selected. The samples were analyzed in duplicate at the laboratory of the Center for Research in Public Health of the Dentistry School of Araçatuba – UNESP, during 8 months, in periods of rain and drought (total absence of rain). Results: 174 analysis were conducted, the mean fluoride levels for rain and drought times were, respectively: 0,71 and 0,73. It was used the Student’s t test (p <0.05). Conclusion: There wasn’t statistically significant differences for the periods of rain and drought in any of the cities, at the year of 2010. This study highlights the importance of health surveillance, because beyond of ensuring social control, there is also the search for investigating variables that may have directly and / or indirectly influence on the results of the analysis.

The main aim of this paper was to use the REZZ software to calculate the tank volume rainwater harvesting system. For this purpose, rain data of Ponta Grossa-PR-Brazil were used considering different statistical treatment (average, 75%, 85%, 95% and 99% of confidence) and different roof areas (50, 80, 120 and 200 m2). The harvesting system was considered only for toilet flush in households with 3, 4 and 5 inhabitants. There were applied the following methods/concepts: Flow equalization (Rippl); Brazilian method as well the English and German practical methods. Further, the mass-balance was simulated for some conditions. All considered methods are described in NBR15527/07, the Brazilian standard for rainwater harvesting. As expected, the results pointed out for huge differences depending on the choice method and the statistical treatment of the rain data. The REZZ appliance showed to be useful thus permitting to set different conditions and to obtain rapid results in order to assist designers to adopt the best cistern volume for each particular case.

The study of variability becomes increasingly important nowadays . Studying the behavior of rainfall before external events is of paramount importance. The region of Vale do Paraíba , it is important to study variability , since the region is influenced by the ocean and constant cold fronts that end causing precipitation during most months of the year . This study aims to analyze the variability in rain UGRHI - 2 by analyzing the interference of ENSO events / Southern Oscillation and the Convergence Zone South Atlantic (SACZ) in the amount and distribution of rainfall. The UGRHI helped were created for distribution and control of water in the state of São Paulo , divided watersheds were avoided so that problems such as poor distribution and water shortages in some areas of the state . To study variability , various software , including Excel , Variowin and R statistical package , the subroutine Climatol were used , with the goal of developing isolines showing the spatial distribution of rainfall anomalies in the years studied also the anomaly index was studied rain (IAC) , noting more effectively the years of positive and negative anomaly , with the purpose of studying the temporal variability of rainfall in the study area.
