The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the bed in High Density Porous Polyethylene (Medpor) implants integration. Two different kind of beds -- corticalized and decorticalized -- were made in six dogs. The animals were killed thirty, sixty and ninety days after implantation. Blocks including implant and adjacent bone were harvested, submitted to histological procedures, stained in hematoxiline-eosine and analyzed in optic microscope. The results demonstrated an absence of infection and foreign body reaction associated with High Density Porous Polyethylene (Medpor) implants. Furthermore, bony and fibrovascular ingrowth could be observed into its pores. The best integration was noted in decorticalized group, in which occurred a greater bony and fibrovascular ingrowth in comparison to the corticalized group

The main impact of hearing loss, in childhood, is the difficult to speech perception. The hearing aids and the cochlear implant are resources used to decrease a result of hearing loss. After the adjustment of these resources, with the therapeutic process, is possible that children with profound hearing impairment develop their hearing abilities, so they will have possibilities to notice phonetic and phonological characteristics of the language. Different speech perception procedures investigate which phonetic and phonological characteristics of the speech segment can be noticed by children with hearing loss. This study aims at analyzing the audiology profile and the speech perception in deaf children and adolescent.

The mini-implant has become a device for anchorage quite widespread and current employee in Orthodontics. The effectiveness of mini-implant is mostly due for its stability primary, however is important to understand about factors that influence the stability. This article presents a review of literature in the database, and as a criterion for inclusion in articles published on the factors related to the stability of mini-implant carried out on humans and animals. The articles was selected according selection criteria related to stability, The factors of mini-implants stability have been described in the literature with scattered scientific information, most of them just as clinical observations. However, these factors of stability can be classified in relation to screw, professional and patient.

As an innovative transitory anchorage device, the mini-implants deserve to be described with details regarding its use and action during orthodontic treatment. Therefore, this paper intents to present some biomechanic criteria adopted to for a better use of mini-implants as anchorage in anterior retraction (space closure), molar distalization, mesial movement of the molars, intrusion of molars and as support to provisional implant.
