Os flavonoides são compostos naturais presentes em diversos tipos de plantas e vegetais, quimicamente classificados como polifenóis e geralmente encontrados em sua forma livre ou glicosilada. Os compostos eriodictiol e hesperidina são flavonoides derivados de frutas cítricas, sendo o primeiro predominantemente presente no limão e o segundo em laranja. Seus principais efeitos quando consumidos por humanos incluem melhorias do sistema cardiovascular, efeitos anti-inflamatórios, antimicrobianos, anticâncer, antifertilidade, antinociceptivo, antioxidante entre outros. Os mecanismos principais envolvidos correspondem desde interações com enzimas regulatórias, à capacidade quelante de alguns flavonoides em sequestrar radicais livres.O uso de alternativas terapêuticas com o eriodictiol e a hesperidina já vem sido utilizada há anos e os mecanismos propostos para a explicação de seus efeitos elucidados.

A busca por alimentos chamados popularmente de orgânicos, produzidos sem o uso de agrotóxicos, fertilizantes, insumos químicos ou organismos geneticamente modificados, vem se consolidando mundialmente. O crescimento do mercado mundial de produtos orgânicos criou uma demanda pela normatização, regulamentação e certificação da produção orgânica em diversos países. Por pressão de países importadores, houve a necessidade de que produtos orgânicos brasileiros fossem certificados através de normas e padrões de qualidade reconhecidos internacionalmente. Este trabalho tem como objetivo descrever a legislação brasileira referente à certificação de produtos orgânicos. Foram descritos os conteúdos das leis e normas que compõem o arcabouço legal referente ao tema. A regulamentação da agricultura orgânica no Brasil teve início com publicação da Lei 10.831/2003 e sua regulamentação pelo Decreto 6.323/2007, que estabeleceu a obrigatoriedade da certificação de produtos orgânicos por organismo de certificação reconhecido oficialmente. Todos aqueles que produzem, transportam, comercializam ou armazenam produtos orgânicos (exceto aqueles pertencentes à agricultura familiar) ficaram obrigados a regularizar suas atividades e estarem inseridos no Cadastro Nacional de Produtores Orgânicos

A number of methods and products have been developed in order to eliminate or reduce the negative effects that hydrocarbons cause to the environment, including hydrophobic expanded vermiculite, used in oil residue filtering systems at gas stations. However, upon adsorbing organic compounds, the vermiculite is no longer used and is sent to landfills. The aim of the present study was to wash granular and powdered vermiculite containing oil lubricant in its pores with distilled water and solutions of 0.1% SDS surfactant and rhamnolipids, with the aim of removing the lubricant and the possibility of reusing the mineral. The greatest amount of lubricant removal was obtained through washing with 0.1% SDS and both granulometric forms. This may be associated to the industrial purification received by the surfactant. However, the biosurfactant is ecologically more viable due to its low toxicity and ease of degradability. In the readsorption tests, greatest adsorption was obtained with the granular vermiculite washed in SDS solution. In order to enable the reuse of the mineral, further tests are needed to enhance desorption/adsorption efficiency.

This Final Paper had as it main goal to make a thermoanalytical study of lighter trivalent lanthanides (Lanthanum, Cerium, Praseodymium, Neodymium, Samarium and Europium) with the Ibuprofen ligand (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) that have a general formula LnL3.nH2O, on solid state, where Ln are the Lanthanides, L is the Ibuprofen ligand and n = number of water molecules of hydration that went from 1,0 to all the compounds. In order to characterize this compounds, it has been used the thermoanalytical techniques TG-DTA (thermogravimetry - Diferential Thermal Analysis) and DSC (Diferential Scanning Calorimetry), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and complexometric titration with EDTA. Through the TG-DTA technique, it has been possible to set the thermal stability of the compounds, the number of thermal decomposition steps and temperatures that ocurred that also provided stoichiometry to the synthesized compounds. The DSC technique has shown the enthalpy of dehydration of the samarium and europium compounds, it was not possible to see it in the other compounds due to a endothermic peak on the DSC curve not being formed. In the case of neodymium, a thermal event ocurred, in which it could be a oxidative decarboxylation right after the dehydration. The infrared was utilised to study the carboxilate groups streches, and so, suggest a ligand metals compound coordination, that to this present paper has been a bidentade bridged coordenation. At last, the complexometric tritation was used to very the ammount of metal present in each compound, and so, verify if the proposed stoichiometry was according to the theory

O sucesso do desenvolvimento da dinâmica das formações vegetais depende das relações estabelecidas entre as espécies vegetais com outros organismos e com o meio físico. Tais relações estão sujeitas a situações de estresse, podendo esse ser de caráter abiótico, como condições elevadas de radiação solar e temperatura e déficit hídrico ou de caráter biótico, como a herbivoria e o ataque de patógenos. Dessa maneira, em virtude à necessidade de um sistema de defesa, as plantas utilizam compostos químicos, como compostos fenólicos e ligninas, para se desenvolverem com proteção. Os compostos fenólicos são compostos oriundos do metabolismo secundário vegetal e ocorrem na parede celular dos tecidos vegetais, constituindo assim uma rápida linha de defesa vegetal a lesões e infecções e funcionando como substrato para atuação de enzimas de defesa como peroxidases e polifenoloxidases. Junto com a atuação dos compostos fenólicos, as ligninas fornecem à planta maior resistência mecânica e impermeabilidade suficiente aos vasos condutores do xilema, proporcionando, assim, desde um fundamental auxílio aos vegetais na conquista do ambiente terrestre até o estabelecimento de uma barreira protetora eficiente contra o ataque de microorganismos. Assim, por meio da extração e análise dos teores de compostos fenólicos e de ligninas de porção de raiz, caule, ápice caulinar e folhas maduras e imaturas de indivíduos de Erythrina speciosa Andrews, Eugenia uniflora L., Hevea brasiliensis M. Arg., Hymenaea courbaril L. var. stilbocarpa (Hayne) Lee et Lang, Joannesia princeps Vell., Lecythis pisonis Cambess, Licania tomentosa (Benth.) Fritsch, Pachira aquatica Aubl. e Psidium guajava L., classificou-se como espécies pioneiras Erythrina speciosa Andrews, Hymenaea courbaril L. var. stilbocarpa (Hayne) Lee et Lang, Joannesia princeps Vell., Pachira aquatica Aubl... One of the greatest problems nowadays is the correct management of solid waste produce in every human activity. On 2010, the “Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos” was approved, this law brings directives and instruments to deal with the solid waste issue. The objective of this work is to make a Strategic Assessment on a Solid Waste Management Plan applied to a medium size city. Based on general data about the situation of the solid wastes in Brazil, a first scenario was described. After that, likely scenarios were proposed, taking segregation, treatment and final disposal on account. Finally, those scenarios were compared, mainly in the final volume disposed and costs involved

The organic wastes need to be adequately managed, in order to avoid the environmental pollution and damage to the public health. So, this work aimed to study the composting process using two methods: manual and mechanized, for the treatment of bovine ruminal waste. This residue is generated in large proportions during the bovine slaughter process, and it can lead environmental degradation and contamination, or even damage to the public health, when not treated. For the initial adjustment of the composting parameters, it was incorporated the residue of coffee husks. The manual composting system was done by the manually aerated piles, while the mechanized composting system was done in a reactor coupled to a compressor that enabled the aeration of the system. The proportions used in both systems were: 90% bovine rumen (R) and 10% coffe husks (CC); 85% bovine rumen and 15% coffe husks; 80% bovine rumen and 20% coffe husks. The parameters determined during the monitoring of the composting process were: temperature, pH, moisture, organic matter, ash, organic carbon, Kjeldahl nitrogen and C/N ratio. The results obtained during the monitoring of the piles and reactors presented similar behavior, except for the parameters Kjeldahl nitrogen and C/N ratio. When compared to the “Instrução Normativa no 25 de 23/07/2009 do Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento”, the organic produced composts with the best results were: pile 2 (85% R; 15% CC) and reactors 1 (90% R; 10% CC) e 2 (85% R; 15% CC)

A produção de maracujá vem ganhando grande importância no Brasil, notadamente a partir das últimas três décadas, o que coloca o país numa situação de destaque no ranking mundial, sendo o maior produtor do mundo. As principais espécies produzidas e exploradas comercialmente são: Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg., o maracujá amarelo ou azedo e Passiflora alata Dryand, o maracujá doce. Apesar de serem espécies bem difundidas, há poucos estudos que as relacionem. Desta forma, o presente trabalho objetivou comparar as polpas das duas espécies, avaliando suas semelhanças e diferenças através de testes físico-químicos e determinando seus compostos bioativos. O estudo foi conduzido no Laboratório de Controle de Qualidade de Alimentos, no Departamento de Alimentos e Nutrição, da Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, campus Araraquara. Para analisar e comparar as espécies estudadas foram utilizadas amostras “in natura” e congeladas de ambas as espécies e foram determinados os compostos bioativos (carotenoides totais, fenólicos totais e flavonóides totais), ácido ascórbico, acidez total titulável (ATT), atividade sequestrante de radicais livres (DPPH) e sólidos solúveis totais (SST). Todas as análises foram realizados em triplicata. Em todas as determinações, o maracujá doce, Passiflora alata Dryand, apresentou valores menores em relação ao maracujá azedo, Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg..Os valores demonstram maiores quantidades de antioxidantes em maracujá amarelo em relação ao maracujá doce. Também demonstram que a indicação de consumo para Passiflora alata Dryand, é do fruto “in natura”, uma vez que para haver industrialização e processamento, há necessidade de maior acidez. Já Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg. demonstra-se adequado para a industrialização.

This work presents the objective of producing organic fertilizer from the waste generated at FCT/UNESP and its use in the growing sunflower. For this, there were collected wastes of pruning/weeding and organic waste from the canteen. It were made two types of treatments, one conventional and the other mechanized, using three mass ratios: ratio 1 (30% wastes of pruning/weeding (RP) + 70% organic waste (RC)), ratio 2 (50% RP + 50% RC) and ratio 3 (70% RP + 30% RC). The conventional system was done windrow with turning manual and the mechanized system was developed in reactors by injecting compressed air. The compounds produced were analyzed in terms of pH, organic matter, organic carbon, mineral residue, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which could be compared to the values stipulated by the Instrução Normativa n° 25 de 23/07/2009 do Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento. The present work aimed to study the composting process using two methods of treatment, conventional and mechanized for the treatment of pruning/weeding waste and organic waste generated in the canteens of the FCT/UNESP. For this work, it was quantified the generation of the waste However, of the tests with pure organic compound, which had the best result was T1 - 70% RPC / 30% ROC, again indicating the feasibility of applying this condition in scales at the campus. The conventional treatment by composting was carried out on manual aerated piles: 70% residue pruning/weeding (RPC) and 30% organic waste from the canteen (ROC); 50% RPC / 50% ROC, 30% RPC / 70% ROC. The mechanized system consisted of a reactor of 190 liters – 50% RPC / 50% ROC, with air injection from a compressor for 15 minutes daily. The parameters characterized and monitored were pH, organic matter, organic carbon, ash, nitrogen kjedahl and phosphorus. The increase of the antimicrobial resistance and its propagation around the world are the biggest threats to the public health care and to the treatment of diseases caused by microorganisms. Nowadays the antimicrobial resistance has increased abruptly. The essential oils are volatile and aromatic compounds derived from parts of plants as flowers, leafs, fruits, seeds, roots, sprouts, among others. The activity of extracts and essential oils of several plant species have been recognized and studied by empirical methods since a long time, but its antimicrobial activities were confirmed recently. Medicinal plants are used in folk medicine as medicines, antibiotic, analgesic, sedative and anti-inflammatory. The use of medicinal plants like source of medicines is an alternative of therapeutics for diseases treatment. In Brazil, studies with this goal are very important, once medicinal plants have been used as a choice of treatment and prevention of infections and diseases in health areas. Considering the fact that some products from medicinal plants have antimicrobial properties it is expected that using screening programs, new potential medicaments could be developed. Otherwise, scientific researches focused on determining therapeutic potential of plants are limited, there are lack of scientific studies which confirms the potential antibiotics properties of a large number of plants. The aim of the present study is determinate the antimicrobial activity of 10 medicinal species belonging to CPMA - Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants from CPQBA/UNICAMP. The minimal inhibitory (MIC) and minimal bactericidal or fungicidal concentration (MBC) will be determined against the bacteria Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella choleraesuis, Staphylococcus aureus and the yeast Candida albicans. The DGT technique has been used to determine and better understand the dynamics and bioavailability of metals in the sea near to marine outfalls. In this work, the DGT was assessed for the determination of Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn and Ni in marine water samples from Potiguar Basin in its conventional aspect (binding agent, Chelex-100 and diffusive agent: Diffusive polyacrylamide gel (D) and restrictive (R)) and determination of Pb and Cd through its alternative aspect (binding agent: Saccharomyces cerevisiae immobilized in agarose gels and diffusive agent: 3MM Chromatography Paper). The deployment curves for long periods of immersion in the sample, showed a good linear correlation for the conventional aspect to Zn (D: R²=0.9586, R: R²=0.9444), Ni (D: R²=0.9789, R: R²=0.9286) and Cu (D: R²=0.764, R: R²=0.8143), and alternative to Pb (R²=0.9228) and Cd (R²=0.9673). The results of the organic and inorganic composition analysis in conventional aspect, showed that for every element there is no significant fraction of organic compounds in the sample. In addition, considering the alternative aspect, the comparison of obtained and expected masses suggests that some of the Pb is not labile and that the main retention mechanism of Pb for S. Cerevisiae occurs through ion exchange

A consequence of population growth is the increased generation of solid waste, which requires environmentally and economically viable suitable disposal sites. The scarcity of such sites makes necessary to adopt non-generation measures, reduction, reuse , recycling and treatment of solid waste before final disposal of waste. This paper presents the quantification and qualification of organic waste generated in each sector of the University Restaurant (UR) , by proposing indicators of waste generation per meal (index of waste) . Then, from the characterization of the waste management practices adopted internally, evaluates the potential deployment of the composting process for organic waste, with signaling for opportunities to improve waste management. The diagnosis of waste generation was made based on data collected during the period of 10 days. The waste were classified into 3 groups (organic, recyclable and waste) in each sector of the restaurant ( pre preparation , kitchen and tray return) . The results reveal that 33 % of the waste generated in the UR currently has the potential to be composted in a suitable place on campus. Every meal served generat approximately 124g of waste, of which 35g are organic waste of the pre preparation sector, 49g are remnants of food in the tray’s return and 40g are other kinds of waste, including recyclable and non recyclable. You can still get a higher percentage of compostable if the trays pre-wash is not performed with detergent and water. To minimize the generation of waste trays can be replaced by plates and skimmers and ladles can be replaced by smaller ones. The food exposed in the counter but not consumed, can be distributed to students after the restaurant is closed so this material would not be disposed in the garbage
