Fuel cells are a very promising solution to the problems of power generation and emission of pollutant to the environment, excellent to be used in stationary application and mobile application too. The high cost of production of these devices, mainly due to the use of noble metals as anode, is a major obstacle to massive production and deployment of this technology, however the use of intermetallic phases of platinum combined with other metals less noble has been evaluated as electrodes in order to minimize production costs and still being able to significantly improve the catalytic performance of the anode. The study of intermetallic phases, exclusively done by experimental techniques is not complete and demand that other methods need to be applied to a deeper understanding of the behavior geometric properties and the electronic structure of the material, to this end the use of computer simulation methods, which have proved appropriate for a broader understanding of the geometric and electronic properties of the materials involved, so far not so well understood.. The use of computational methods provides answers to explain the behavior of the materials and allows assessing whether the intermetallic may be a good electrode. In this research project was used the Quantum-ESPRESSO package, based on the DFT theory, which provides the self-consistent field calculations with great precision, calculations of the periodic systems interatomic force, and other post-processing calculations that points to a knowledge of the geometric and electronic properties of materials, which may be related to other properties of them, even the electrocatalytic. The electronic structure is determined from the optimized geometric structure of materials by analyzing the density of states (DOS) projected onto atomic orbital, which determines the influence of the electrocatalytic properties of the material... The welding process in industrial piping is still the most effective way to ensure the durability and quality of the wide range of industrial process, although because of the high demand for energy and quality of the produced products, the piping has been constantly tested for high pressure applications and still high temperature. The welding method analyzed is the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding or GTAW (Gas-Shielded Tungsten Arc Welding), which ones have as principal feature the utilization of a not consumable tungsten electrode in the torch extremity , in this process is necessary a protective atmosphere of inert gas. The welding TIG advantage is the obtaining of a welded seam clean and with quality for not has slag after the welding. This work has as objective show the variability in the carbon steel piping welding parameters and by the tests in four proof bodies will be shown the influence of the variation of the welding methods in a welded seam. The tests will vary since the piece to be welded preparation, till penetrating liquid tests, welding macrography, welding x-ray and traction tests. Even been a clean and with quality welding is necessary a final inspection in the seam welded looking for defects almost inevitable resulted of the welded process, the obtained results have the objective of indicate and minimize the defects to ensure quality and durability of the welded seam

This paper presents the study on the application of the electrolytic plasma for surface treatment of aluminum. A bibliographical study on the material of interest was preliminarily performed and later designed and built an electrolytic cell, including the excitation source. Unlike conventional electrolysis process, the plasma assisted carry on in the non-linear region of characteristic current/voltage curve. Therefore it requires for the on set of the process that the power supply operates on harder conditions than those on high current process. The plasma produced during the present investigation has temperatures in the range o 6,0.10 3 -7,0 .10 3 K, well above those found in conventional chemical process. It also shows a particular dynamic to promote changes on surface and to produce new materials. The plasma is generated by microdischarge in vapor or gas bubbles involved in physic-chemical processes in electrode regions of the electrolytic cell. The electrode material was the aluminum (7075). The Process Electrolytic Plasma Processing (EPP) is sensitive to various parameters such as operating voltage, current density, electrolyte, concentration of electrolyte, geometry of reactor, temperature of electrolytic solution and dynamic of the fluid in the cell. The experiments were carried on in order to find parameters for a stable abd steady operation. The choice for the electrolytic was silicate/alkali solution in various concentrations to operate in various voltage as well. Plasma was produced on negative (cathode) and positive (anode) electrode, in specific conditions. A stable operation on the cathode process was obtained with low concentration of the electrolytic in aqueous solution, current density around 250V effective voltage. A determinação de fósforo em amostras de rações e fezes de peixes por espectrometria no visível e de selênio em amostras vegetais de cultura orgânica por espectrometria de absorção atômica em forno de grafite (GFAAS) representa o foco principal do trabalho desenvolvido. O fósforo e o selênio são macro e micronutrientes importantes para a nutrição vegetal e animal, no entanto, se utilizados sem um controle adequado podem poluir o solo e os recursos hídricos, atingindo todo o meio ambiente. Dessa forma, foram desenvolvidos métodos para extração dos analitos que diminuíram significativamente os resíduos químicos produzidos nas determinações de rotina feitas na área de nutrição de plantas e de piscicultura. No caso do fósforo foram otimizados parâmetros físico-químicos para extração desse elemento por ultra-som e posterior quantificação por espectrofotometria no visível. No caso do selênio foram otimizados parâmetros físico-químicos para amostragem em suspensão (slurry) e determinação direta por GFAAS. Os principais parâmetros físico-químicos avaliados e otimizados foram: granulometria da amostra sólida, tempo e potência de sonificação, soluções extratoras, agentes surfactantes para estabilização do slurry; temperatura de pirólise e atomização, tipos de modificadores químicos e volume de amostragem nas determinações de selênio por GFAAS e tempo de reação e relação ao agente cromogênico/volume de amostra nas determinações espectrofotométricas de fósforo. O método de extração por ultra-som foi aplicado na determinação de fósforo biodisponível em amostras de rações de peixes e o método de amostragem em suspensão para a determinação de selênio em amostras de vegetais orgânicos

No presente trabalho é proposto um método para determinação de cobre, manganês e selênio em amostras de vegetais de cultura orgânica e convencional utilizando ultra-som no processo de extração dos analitos e posterior quantificação por espectrometria de absorção atômica em forno de grafite (GFAAS). Utilizando como solução extratora HCl 0,10 mol L-1, as condições ótimas de extração estabelecidas foram: massa de amostra de 100 mg; granulometria da amostra < 60 m; tempo de sonificação de cinco ciclos de 40 s e potência de sonificação de 136 W. As determinações dos analitos por GFAAS foram feitas utilizando-se temperaturas de secagem de 90-250 oC, temperatura de pirólise de 1300 oC, temperatura de atomização de 2300 oC e temperatura de limpeza de 2800 oC. Foi utilizado como modificador químico nitrato de paládio co-injetado junto com as amostras e tungstênio como modificador permanente. A exatidão e precisão do método de extração proposto foram avaliadas utilizando-se padrão certificado Corn Bran, RM 8433 – National Institute of Standards and Technology. Os resultados obtidos pelo método de extração por ultra-som mostraram-se equivalentes aos obtidos pelo método utilizando-se mineralização ácida das amostras em forno de microondas. No entanto, a metodologia proposta diminui consideravelmente o tempo de análise, o que favorece a velocidade analítica. Além disso, a quantidade de resíduos gerados para o ambiente também é bastante minimizada

In this study, a composite of titanium oxide (TixOy) and carbon nanotubes multi-walled (MWCNT) was synthesized on a titanium substrate using the sol-gel method. The electrode obtained (TixOy-MWCNT/Ti) was used to the photodegradation of Carbaryl. The morphology and structure of the TixOy-MWCNT composite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning electron microscopy by field emission (FEG-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrode was evaluated for degradation of Carbaryl (0.9 mmol L-1) in phosphate buffer pH 6, and using chronoamperometry by applying a potential of +1,5 V for 1 h. Using the Ultraviolet-Visible test, the absorbance at 220 nm was collected every 15 min to calculate the percentage of Cabaryl´s degradation. Can be evaluated that the Carbaryl degradation using the TixOy-MWCNT/Ti electrode was 22% more efficient when compared with the electrode without the presence of titanium oxides (MWCNT / Ti)

This paper aims at observing a particular case of an author’s and self-translator’s style in the pair of works Viva o Povo Brasileiro and An Invincible Memory. Our investigation has its theoretical starting point based on Corpus-Based Translation Studies (Baker, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000; Camargo, 2005, 2007), and works on cultural domains (Nida, 1945; Aubert, 1981, 2006). The results showed that great part of cultural marks may be classified as the material, social, and ideological cultural domains, which reflects the context of the source text. It was also possible to observe that normalization features tends to reveal conscious or unconscious use of fluency strategies by the self-translator, making the translated text easier to read.

The ceramic pigments are colored inorganic substances that during the process of dispersion in the ceramic glazes and subsequent calcination, are stable against physical and chemical attack. Therefore, they are crystalline compounds applied in the ceramic industry for coloring vitreous base. In this study, the Pechini method was used for obtaining the pigment CuCr2O4 with heat treatment at the temperatures of 800, 900 and 1000 ° C. The powder pigments were characterized on their structural, morphological and colorimetric aspects. The thermal analysis conducted on an amorphous precursor in a TG / DTA indicates the weight loss in the entire temperature range investigated, with characteristic exothermic peak of the elimination of the organic composition of the precursor around 300°C. The development of the crystalline phases were investigated by XRD, using a diffractometer with Cu Ka radiation and graphite monochromator, where it was observed the presence of crystalline phases corresponding to Cr2O3 and CuCr2O4.The measurements of the specific surface area of the powders pigments were carried out in an equipment Micromeritcs, model ASAP 2000, using N2 as gas of adsorption/desorption. The colorimetric measurements of the pigments were made in a colorimeter Gretac Macbeth Color-eye spectrophotometer 2180 / 2180UV in CIELAB standards. Based on the obtained results, it can be verified the thermal stability of the powder pigments of green coloration, which enables it as an alternative to the materials currently used in the manufacture of ceramic tiles.

Métodos comparativos foram desenvolvidos para detectar e quantificar o corante solvente azul 14 (SA-14) em amostras de combustíveis. O método eletroanalítico foi baseado na técnica de voltametria de onda quadrada (VOQ) com detecção em +0,60 V vs. Ag/AgCl sobre o eletrodo de carbono vítreo, usando tampão Britton-Robinson e N, N-dimetilformamida (1:1, v/v) como eletrólito suporte. Para metodologia, envolvendo a cromatografia líquida de alta performance (CLAE) foi empregada uma fase móvel composta de acetonitrila e cloreto de lítio (85:15, v/v) e a detecção eletroquímica foi realizada em um potencial de oxidação em +0,65 V vs. Ag/AgCl. Sob as melhores condições de trabalho curvas de calibração foram obtidas, para ambos os métodos, as quais foram lineares na faixa de concentração de 5,0×10 -7 a 6,0×10 -6 mol L-1 (VOQ) e 8,0×10 -8 a 3,0×10 -6 mol L-1 (CLAE). Os métodos foram aplicados para quantificar o corante em amostras de álcool e querosene após um simples processo de extração em fase sólida com resultados de recuperação satisfatórios.
