The research work aimed to evaluate the performance of barley cultivars under different irrigation depths in Brazilian Cerrado. The experiment was conducted in a split plot completely randomized design, with irrigation depths (50, 75, 100 and 125% of crop evapotranspiration) in the plots and barley cultivars (BRS Sampa, BRS Manduri and BRS 195) in the split-plots, with four replications. Barley cultivars were different regarding number of tillers per plant, number of spikelets per spike, and root depth. The maximum yields for BRS Sampa, BRS Manduri and BRS 195 were 5,848; 5,449; and 4,767 kg ha(-1), respectively. BRS Sampa showed a value 17% higher than the yield reported by the holder. The irrigation depth affected all the agronomic traits. It is recommended BRS Sampa for Brazilian Cerrado, that didn't differ from other cultivars and was developed in region of similar climate; with replacement of 100% of crop evapotranspiration.

With the advance of mathematical methods throughout the centuries, in particular with respect to the differential calculus, the notion of fractional derivative emerged with Leibniz and later developed by several well known scientists. Today that formalism is well used in the study of diffusion phenomena among other areas. We extend the fractional indices to matricial indices and develop a formalism to handle this generalized derivative, as well as other operators, functions and functionals in mathematical physics, originally defined for natural indices. Here we only consider 2x2 hermitian and anti-hermitian matrices. These matrices are associated to the well known Pauli matrices and Hamilton's quaternions. Índices climáticos e infestação predial por larvas de Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762) e Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1894) em Araçatuba-sp Brasil

Aedes is synanthropic; associated with climatic conditions and urban environment. This study performed a retrospective evaluation of the climatic indices and the A. aeypti and A. albopictus infestation larvae rates (IP), registered from the month of October, 2005 to 2009, in the Araçatuba city, São Paulo State. There was no variation in the average temperature in the period (26.3°C). The rain falls were high in 2005 (133.5 mm3 ) fell in 2006, 2007 and 2008 (55.0 mm3 , 78.5 mm3 and 79.0 mm3 , respectively) and increased in 2009 (104.0 mm3 ). The infestation IP was 1.10, 1.39, 0.36, 0.28 and 3.30, respectively in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, none of them were A. albopictus larvae. There was no association between IP and temperature, but there was significant difference (P <0.001) between the IP of 2009, with the IP of 2007 and 2008. This study it was concluded that among the environmental factors just rain influenced the rate of larvae, "infestation", committed only by A. aegypti.
