Avaliação microscópica da propriedade biológica e da biocompatibilidade do osso composto e do osso integral de origem bovina

The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological properties and biocompatibility of bovine non-demineralized lyophilized and composite bones implanted in tibiae bone cavities and at the subcutaneous level. Twenty-four rats were used and sacrificed 15 and 45 days later. At the subcutaneous level, after 15 days an inflammatory reaction was seen around biomaterial particles with the presence of giant cells and at 45 days fibrous connective tissue had also developed. No signs of ectopic bone formation were observed at tibiae regions; more bone neoformation was observed at the control group (15 days) with 42.8% of the outer cortex layer against 22.6% at Orthogen and 25% at GenMix groups. At 45 days, correspondent values for bone neoformation were 62.5% at control, 26% at Orthogen, and 35% at GenMix groups, respectively. It can be concluded that both materials tested were biocompatible aiming to bone neoformation by their osteoconductive properties with no ectopic formation sites observed.

Conjugal problems may damage parents and children relationships favoring the appearance of behavior problems, as well as causing psychological problems. Given the lack of studies which value several interrelated behavioral repertoires, the present paper aims at presenting assessment results employing multiple instruments in regards to the three couples that sought clinical services at a University clinic. Results indicated that participants were presenting communication deficits, problem solving difficulties, and problems in expressing affection confirming literature findings. Problems in other areas were also reported, which influenced the marital relationship. It stands out that the children were presenting indications of behavior problems. The relevance of data collection applying different instruments is discussed, and it is necessary that intervention programs consider individual difficulties, besides setting up singular objectives for each person searching for service.

Análise temporal da cobertura do solo na zona de amortecimento de reserva biológica

The Municipal Biological Reserve of Serra do Japi shelters an important forest remnant of Atlantic Rainforest in the state of São Paulo. For its ecological importance, were created instruments for environmental and territorial management of the Conservation Unit, with the regulation of the use and occupation of the land in its Buffer Zone (BZ) in 2004. The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of the land cover in the BZ region of the Municipal Biological Reserve of Serra do Japi in Jundiaí-SP, between 1989 and 2010. It was used in this study the image analysis of the satellite LANDSAT-TM5, with the help of software ILWIS and IDRISI. The results showed that urban occupation has increased 37.47% and the agro pastoral and reforestation areas have decreased 36.62% and 72.22% respectively, while forest areas have increased 49.57%. However, the relative importance of the forest area in BZ ranged from 46.60% in 1989 to 69.71% in 2010, leading to the conclusion that this region was favored by changes in land cover in the period evaluated, despite strong pressure for urban expansion in its surroundings.

The effects of an intervention in social skills were assessed in four university students with ages between 19 and 31, with social phobia diagnosis. The performance in social skills as well as performance-compatible disorder was assessed before, after the intervention, and follow-up in four months later, by the instruments: SCID-I, Mini-SPIN, QACC-VU and IHS in a multiple baseline design among participants. The intervention programmed twelve weekly meetings in which the researcher discussed socially skilled alternatives to the described difficulties; leaded dialogued theoretical explanations about the theme of the meeting and also performed functional assessments and repertory training of the participants. It was observed deficits such as public speaking, starting and maintaining conversation in the participants’ social skills repertory, which are consistent with the criteria for social phobia and the difficulties into the adapting to university. After the intervention, the participants left difficulties in public speaking, performance characteristic compatible with the social phobia diagnosis and they also increased social repertory, although it is still necessary the improvement of other skills, such as expressing positive feeling.

Transtorno de estresse pós-traumático e terapia comportamental: um estudo de caso

O presente artigo descreve o caso de uma paciente vítima de abuso sexual na infância que desenvolveu um quadro de Transtorno de Estresse Pós-Traumático (TEPT). Questões relacionadas a abuso sexual, caracterís-ticas do TEPT e formas de tratamento são discutidas. A intervenção foi conduzida na perspectiva da Análise do Comportamento, tendo como foco as queixas da cliente relacionadas ao transtorno, bem como outras demandas, tais como relacionamento com a mãe e a irmã, dificuldades de estudo (faculdade) e aumento de peso. Procurou-se através da intervenção conscientizar a cliente sobre o transtorno e seu tratamento (Psicoeducação), promovendo autoconhecimento, habilidades sociais, refletindo sentimentos e em paralelo foi trabalhada a dificuldade de estudo e o aumento de peso. Como medidas avaliativas da intervenção (pré/pós-teste) foram utilizados instrumentos para rastreamento de TEPT e comorbidades. Conclui-se que a inter-venção foi efetiva para o desaparecimento dos sintomas característicos de TEPT, bem como para a promoção de repertórios relacionados à queixa da cliente.
