Modern Dentistry offers many alternatives for changing a patient's smile. Using work protocols is essential to obtaining previsibility in the resolution of clinical cases. The aim ofthis paper is to present two clinical protocols for two distinguishable situations, creation and reproduction.

Guia prático de medicina baseada em evidências

Neste livro são expostos, para uso de profissionais da área, os princípios básicos e conceitos fundamentais, além dos procedimentos necessários para a prática da Medicina Baseada em Evidências (MBE). A MBE é uma prática relativamente nova, criada em 1992, pelo cientista epidemiologista Gordon Guyatt, na canadense McMaster University. Trata-se da utilização e do desenvolvimento de métodos rigorosos que respondam a questões clinicas sobre efetividade, eficiência e segurança de determinado tratamento e prevenção, bem como sobre a sensibilidade e especificidade de testes diagnósticos de certa doença na área de saúde. A MBE propõe realizar pesquisas de boa qualidade metodológica e livres de vieses e conflitos de interesse, de forma que as respostas sejam adequadas para auxiliar na tomada de decisão clínica. Segundo a MBE, a melhor forma de saber se uma medicação específica é eficaz no tratamento de determinada doença é a revisão sistemática de ensaios clínicos randomizados, que mapeiam os estudos publicados e não publicados realizados mundialmente sobre o assunto. Tal revisão deve ainda contar com metodologia rigorosa que busque, por exemplo, explicar resultados contraditórios sobre a mesma questão e comparar estudos com diferentes amostras para detectar possível diferença estatística. De forma didática e detalhada, mas mantendo todo o rigor científico, esta obra tem caráter de manual. Ao longo dos capítulos, seus autores explicam conceitos e apresentam o passo a passo da utilização da MBE para os profissionais de saúde.

Radioterapia em medicina veterinária: princípios e perspectivas

This work presents a brief historical about the use of ionizing radiations in Veterinary Medicine, instructing the physical beginnings and techniques wrapped in the realization of the proceedings of radiotherapy in animals, illustrating some treated cases, highlighting the difficulties and pointing to the perspectives and importance of the acting of the medical physics in this kind of therapeutic still little used in the national scenery.

A participação do auxiliar em saúde bucal na equipe de saúde e o ambiente odontológico

Introduction: The formation of Oral Health Team, healthy and ergonomic work conditions influence on quality of dental attendance to patient. Objective: In this observational and cross-sectional study, it was observed the participation of the dental assistants (ASB) on dental team on public health, to verify the items related to health legislation, the existence and distribution of equipment in dental offices. Material and method: The data collection was performed using questionnaires and observations on locals for consultation. It were interviewed 75 dentists from 9 cities of Health Regional Department (DRS) – XV – São José do Rio Preto City and it was evaluated 34 dental offices. Result: Of total 75 dentists, 21 (28%) worked alone and among them, 6 (29%) worked at school and 15(71%) at Health Basic Unit (UBS). From 34 dental offices, 2 (6%) did not show any equipment for sterilization and among those that had it, the autoclave was the most used method (44%). Among the analyzed dental offices, 31 (91%) had dustbin for common waste and 23 (68%) of contaminated waste was inadequate. It was noted that 13 (38%) did not have local to wash de hands; in 23 (68%) there was paper towel; in 20 (59%) there was ideal soap dishes, and the compressor was installed into dental offices in 5 (15%) of local for attendance. In relation to dental offices adequacy for the help work, all of them (n = 19) were dissatisfied. Conclusion: The existence of ASB was present in the Centers of Dental Specialties (CEO) and Units of Family Health due legal exigencies and it were found inadequate healthy and ergonomic conditions, suggesting the necessity of reorganization of w

Avaliações farmacoeconômicas em vigilância de medicamentos

The study aimed to identify pharmacoeconomic studies in pharmacovigilance and to observe the economic outcomes in post-marketing surveillance. Therefore, a bibliographic survey was performed in databases Lilacs, PubMed/ Bireme. The search strategy was done by using scientific health descriptors [ "adverse drug reaction reporting systems " OR " medication errors " OR "product surveillance, postmarketing" OR " sentinel surveillance" ] AND [ " cost-benefit analysis" OR "cost efficiency analysis " OR " costs and cost analysis " OR " hospital costs " OR " cost-effectiveness " OR " cost-effectiveness evaluation " OR " drug costs " ]. Manuscripts published in the last 10 years were selected. We chose 13 articles, of which 12 corresponded to cost-benefit analysis and only one to cost-effectiveness assessment. In only one study there was no economy, all the other ones generated savings, ranging from 13.7 to 30% in spending valued service. Surveillance actions were: continuing education; active search through tracking devices and / or implementation of round; teamwork and multidisciplinary deployment; computerized security services management, enabling traceability of information and alerts. The results of the proposed actions have led to the prevention of adverse drug reactions, to decline of risks to the patient, to the reduction of inappropriate prescriptions, as well as the length of hospital stay spending valued service. Surveillance actions were: continuing education; active search through tracking devices and / or implementation of round; teamwork and multidisciplinary deployment; computerized security services management, enabling traceability of information and alerts. The present study scores postures, approaches and themes to permeadt discussions and the process of construction of Course Specialization of communication at the Faculty of architecture, arts and communication (FAAC) of Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Bauru, SP, highlighting the difficulties and the paths chosen in search of professional qualification together organizations. Presentation the investigative process, market over demands from the perspective of organizational communication, to try to understand the multidimensional abilities that the course should provide. Finally, it establishes some modules and thematic for the course, intending to reflect the diversity of communicative functions, which are in the highest capacity of human beings, that is to create your reality and interfere in the direction of society.

Determinação do teor alcoólico de vodcas: uma abordagem multidisciplinar no ensino da física, química e matemática

In this paper, it is proposed an experimental activity to be developed with high school students, addressing the concepts of density and surface tension from a multidisciplinary approach among Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In this proposal, students are challenged to determine the alcohol content of vodkas from intensive physical properties of liquids. Two calibration curves were obtained, one for density and another for surface tension as a function of ethanol concentration in water. The alcohol levels obtained from these properties were very close to the values given by manufacturers, due the similarity of these beverages with ethanol-water binary mixtures.
