Distance-learning language courses are gaining ground because they meet contemporary social demands and expand opportunities for access to new knowledge. They also favor interaction among people with similar goals but who live in places where no live learning arrangements are available. Taking Valente (2002), Garrison and Anderson (2000), and other authors for theoretical bases, this paper reflects on the criteria and aspects to be considered when one plans and ministers online teacher training courses. The data were taken from a distance-based university extension course offered on the Moodle learning platform by a university in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The objective was to encourage German language teachers to further develop their own language skills, reflect on aspects of inter-culturality in teaching the target language, and provide experience with current technological resources. This paper describes the elements that proved to be relevant in the creation and planning of the course, based on authors who deal with characteristics of computer-mediated teaching. The importance of this study is related to the fact that little information is available on the planning of courses in online formats.

Bacterial Cellulose/Chondroitin Sulfate for Dental Materials Scaffolds

Bacterial cellulose (BC) has become established as a remarkably versatile biomaterial and can be used in a wide variety of scientific applications, especially for medical devices. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of chondroitin sulfate (1% w/w) to the culture medium before the bacteria are inoculated. Besides, biomimetic precipitation of calcium phosphate of biological interest from simulated body fluid on bacterial cellulose was studied. Chondroitin sulfate influences in bacterial cellulose were analyzed using transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), XRD (X-ray diffraction) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). FTIR analysis showed interaction between chondroitin sulfate, bacterial cellulose and calcium phosphate and XRD demonstrated amorphous calcium phosphate and carbonated apatite on bacterial cellulose nanocomposites. SEM images confirmed incorporation of calcium phosphate in bacterial celluloe nanocomposite surface and uniform spherical calcium phosphate particles. Future experiments with cells adhesion and viability are in course.

This work includes an analysis about the distance learning Online. By bibliographic researches were was observed some Distance Learning peculiarities in Brazil, since its implementation until the present days. Was considered aspects of activities the teachers, main problems, advantages, needed resources for implementation the distance learning course and the approach on a virtual learning environment. (TelEduc) The text was written from books, articles and web pages related to Online distance learning in order to provide the reader an overview of this teaching modality increasingly growing in Brazil

Jornalismo econômico como exercício da cidadania: uma análise da divulgação econômica na mídia oficial e nos veículos Universo Online e O Estado de São Paulo

The present study had the intention to demonstrate how the language used by official sources of economy helps to keep the limitation and lack of accessibility of economic journalism to non-specialist readers. Over two weeks, we compared the disclosures in the economics editorial office of the site Universo Online and the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo to those cited in official reports. From this analysis of more than 50 issues selected for the sample, was observed how the technical language used by the official press makes more difficult the access to information and citizenship. Besides the comparison and description of the reports, the study involved the content analysis employed in the media. It was noted the presence of biased approaches and materials poorly cleared. The language used in many cases was not appropriate to the type of audience for which the news was heading. One of the most serious problems, perhaps, was the copy and paraphrase of press releases. The reports, most are limited to the specialist showed, contrary to the duty of public transparency, while highlighting the problems, the study also showed well-written texts that indicate a promising future for citizen and economic journalism

Marcas da formação escolar, acadêmica e docente: uma análise dos memoriais de formação de alunos(as) do PROESF

This work describes and contextualizes the PROESF - Special Program for Teacher Training Exercise in the early grades of elementary school and children education in municipal schools of metropolitan region of Campinas. The PROESF was organized by University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and remained from 2002 to 2005 graduated about 1600 teachers. The objetives of this course was provide pedagogy formation to teachers in activity in elementary schools and children schools from municipalities of this region. The course also intended to improve the quality of the education and teachers formation. At the final part of course, the teachers had to elaborating a memorial of formation. These materials can be accessed on the website of UNICAMP. The contribution of these memorial of formations can help to think about the teachers formation. This study was a qualitative research from these materials for 2008, and the objective is to identify the marks the formation perceived by these teachers and contributions for them formation. It is understood by marks the formation school memories significant for this group of teachers, stressing the points of what the academic formation contributes for the teacher in day-to-day in the school and what life in the classroom as a teacher marked the teaching practice. Introdução à pesquisa com sequências didáticas na formação continuada online de professores de ciências

The integration of research in teaching practices assumes increasing importance and complexity in education. One aspect involved in this issue and poorly investigated is the training of teachers for the development of research linked with their practices. In this context, we present a training for research developed on a distance-learning course in the Science Teaching, which involves the design, implementation and analysis of didactic sequences: the Study Guide to the Initiation of the Term Paper (SGITP). Our research goal is to present a training proposal produced from the results collected from a survey of the literature of the area, and to investigate its application and its results in the teachers' continuing education program. Using data extracted from the production of students and tutors, we concluded that SGITP had a good acceptance among them and it was positively evaluated by teachers, in addition to promoting a greater understanding of research.
