The program of diagnosis and prevention of oral cancer of Univag - University Center aims to increase preventive and early oral diseases with emphasis on oral cancer, aiming to reduce the morbidity and mortality through educative actions, spreading of the auto-examination, performed by dental students of UNIVAG since the second half of 2005 to the present day. The dental students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters were trained using practice-theoretical classes, for realization the exams preventives and diagnostics, such as self-examination, exfoliative cytology and biopsy of oral mucosa, and even present educative actions. Analyzing the preliminary results were observed increase in the number of diagnoses and referral of diagnosed with oral cancer for treatment in referral services. It was concluded that the program of diagnosis and prevention of oral cancer can make possible early diagnosis and adoption of preventive measures, consequently improving survival rates and life quality in population.

To determine the profile of the patients who participated in the program of oral cancer diagnosis and prevention in Mato Grosso, from 2008 to 2009. Materials and Methods: The medical records of the treated patients were examined. Results: 1.293 records were analyzed, with a predominance of female patients (60%) and a greater participation of patients from 10 to 19 years of age (20%). Reports of pre-existing illnesses amounted to 302 recorded cases. In addition, 292 variations of normality could be also identified. During the period, 25 participants were recommended for exfoliative cytology and 133 for biopsy, as they presented oral lesions that raised the suspicion of malignancy. Conclusions: Campaigns to raise awareness of and prevent oral cancer are very important and should be extended to the entire population of the state of Mato Grosso, either by means of the local University Center (UNIVAG), or by other agencies and health institutions.

The BCL2 protein found in the internal mothocondrial membrana regulates the apoptosis preventing the programmed cell death. The translocation (14:18), detected in 70 to 85% of the follicular lymphoma, lead the super expression of BCL2 protein, by juxtaposition of BCL2 gene to the JH segment of the immunoglobulins' heavy chain gene. However, the found of the BCL2 expression in head and neck carcinoma are contradictious. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the presence of the translocation (14:18) of the BCL2 gene in head and neck carcinoma. METHOD: Sixteen DNA samplers were examinated being 13 of squamous cells carcinoma (SCC) and 3 of epidermoid (CE), y means of chain reaction of the polymerase (PCR). RESULTS: The BCL2/JH rearrangement in 2 (15%) of the CCE 13 cases and in none of the 3 cases of CE. The average of the frequency of molecules with rearrangement was 46,44x107. Was not observed association between the rearrangement presence and the exhibition to tobacco and alcohol (p=0, 6545). CONCLUSION: Different from the results found in follicular lymphoma, the presence of the translocation (14; 18) in head and neck carcinomas is not common and, when it occurs, it can be an occasional mutation not associated to exhibition to the tobacco and alcohol.

Nevertheless, all the participants were interested to learn more about the technique. We can notice in Brazilian literature —both past and contemporary— the presence of the historical novel in its several modalities which include traditional models but also contemporary formulations that break old models with irreverence. Among them are the historiographical metafictions (Hutcheon, 1991), which propose the rereading not only of history but also of literature itself. Therefore, in the large number of historical characters which are fictionalized by contemporary Brazilian historical novel in the last decades, this essay intends to discuss how Ana Miranda engages in reading the history of Brazilian literature through fiction in three of her novels. The first is Boca do inferno (1989), whose protagonists are two of the main representatives of Brazilian colonial barroque, Father Antônio Vieira and poet Gregório de Matos. Following the chronological order of protagonist writers, the next novel to be discussed is Dias & dias (2002), whose action is centered in Gonçalves Dias, a well known poet of national Romanticism. The third is A última quimera (1995), which makes an outline of Brazilian literature at the beginning of the 20th century, dealing with Augusto dos Anjos and Olavo Bilac. By inverting some traditional viewpoints, Ana Miranda proposes, as in a palimpsest, the rereading and discussion of the national literary cânon and its construction.
