Variação nômade: Henry Miller, filosofia e o combate contra o juízo

We discuss Henry Miller's novel Tropic of Cancer based on the concept of nomadism, as coined by Deleuze and Guattari. The relation between philosophy and literature is very productive for both. A phenomenon of dual capture between these two areas that is characteristic of a nomadic thinking: literature that engenders philosophy which, in turn, engenders literature, establishing connections, new relations between terms in a distinct nomad variation that dismisses the classical image of thought of its eminence: a perspective between philosophy and literature as form of discussing the nomadism in Miller's novel. Thus, the linkage between philosophy and literature aims to capture the Millerian paths on this new space of thought, which is achieved by giving up any origin, human or divine, and stands as productive thought that affirms the real in a combat waged against the faculty of judgment, or simply of Judgment, in all its forms.

Klein-Gordon particles in mixed vector-scalar inversely linear potentials

The problem of a spinless particle subject to a general mixing of vector and scalar inversely linear potentials in a two-dimensional world is analyzed. Exact bounded solutions are found in closed form by imposing boundary conditions on the eigenfunctions which ensure that the effective Hamiltonian is Hermitian for all the points of the space. The nonrelativistic limit of our results adds a new support to the conclusion that even-parity solutions to the nonrelativistic one-dimensional hydrogen atom do not exist. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. Confinement of fermions by mixed vector-scalar linear potentials in two-dimensional space-time

The problem of confinement of fermions in 1 + 1 dimensions is approached with a linear potential in the Dirac equation by considering a mixing of Lorentz vector and scalar couplings. Analytical bound-states solutions are obtained when the scalar coupling is of sufficient intensity compared to the vector coupling. (C) 2002 Elsevier B.V. B.V. All rights reserved.

A new method for real time computation of power quality indices based on instantaneous space phasors

One of the important issues about using renewable energy is the integration of dispersed generation in the distribution networks. Previous experience has shown that the integration of dispersed generation can improve voltage profile in the network, decrease loss, etc. but can create safety and technical problems as well. This work report the application of the instantaneous space phasors and the instantaneous complex power in observing performances of the distribution networks with dispersed generators in steady state. New IEEE apparent power definition, the so-called Buchholz-Goodhue effective apparent power, as well as new proposed power quality (oscillation) index in the three-phase distribution systems with unbalanced loads and dispersed generators, are applied. Results obtained from several case studies using IEEE 34 nodes test network are presented and discussed. (C) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
