The style of life in the cities deprives the man of the contact with nature. As a way to escape from the turbulent reality of the urban system, the urban planning provides areas that allow the contact between man and nature like botanical gardens, parks, leafy squares, etc. These places, through specific analysis, are also called green areas. Thus, the main purpose of this research is to outline and analyze, through geoprocessing techniques, green areas of Americana, São Paulo considering them as indicators of urban environmental quality. This evaluation will be based on the methodology adapted by Bargos (2010) where products of remote sensing were used (aerial photos and satellite images) and it will be also based on field work and calculation of the amount of green areas. The software ESRI ArcGIS® will be used to create thematic maps connected with city’s green areas. Based on the results achieved in this study, it’s expected to contribute to the government of the city of Americana in order to provide benefits of analysis for decision makers in the context of urban planning aiming an improvement in the urban environmental quality, thus benefiting its entire population

Previous studies show that in areas contaminated by fuel spill (NAPL- non-aqueous phase liquids), from operational activities, transport and storage, it was possible to observe a significant decrease of ²²²Rn (radon) gas concentration in the soil, even a non-uniform distribution of this gas in top soil, even with a geological situation was practically homogeneous. These anomalies may be associated with the preference partitioning of radon in NAPLs. This work consists of applying ²²²Rn as an indicator for locating subsurface contamination by NAPLs in an area of the city of Rio Claro (SP) where, according to the “Survey of Contaminated and Rehabilitated Areas in the State of São Paulo (Environmental Sanitation and Technology Company - CETESB), there was, in the year 2007, groundwater contamination from leaks of liquid fuels. The challenges of this research are: Promulgate the use of a new tool with greater efficiency in obtaining results, in addition to generate less impact in half and have less expenditure; disseminate scientific culture promoting greater integration of C&T (culture & technology) between universities and businesses. The emanometric technique to estimate the location, number and interfacial area of NAPL in saturated and non-saturated zone, has the advantage of locating and determining plumes of free phase even when the amount of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) that reaches the surface is low or non-existent. In addition, the measurement techniques ²²²Rn are quite developed. The results obtained show that, similar to the other studies, the 222Rn soil gas presents an anomalous behavior in the area bounded by NAPL plume, being possible to note a significant deficit in the concentration of the gas in spots where the saturation by NAPLs is still critical. O presente estudo, que foi desenvolvido considerando os dados de quatro municípios do Estado de São Paulo (São Carlos, Araraquara, Matão e Gavião Peixoto), teve como propósito definir um Indicador de Desenvolvimento Regional e teve os seguintes itens pesquisados: consumo energia elétrica residencial e industrial, população, valor adicionado total e o número de empregos gerados. Desses itens foram utilizados o valor adicionado e o número de empregos gerados para definir um indicador de desenvolvimento regional a fim de detectar o desenvolvimento dos municípios estudados, utilização de mão de obra qualificada e a geração de riquezas obtidas e distribuída entre esses municípios. A construção desse Indicador teve como base os dados dos municípios paulistas do período de 2001 a 2007. Após a mensuração do indicador de desenvolvimento regional foram extraídos e analisados os seguintes dados: análise do crescimento desses indicadores que levam ao desenvolvimento dos municípios vizinhos e a formação de um agrupamento produtivo local (cluster). Esses dados também foram utilizados numa análise estatística de regressão para estimar previsão de crescimento desses municípios em função do setor aeronáutico que está se instalando na região estudada. Foi observado também que no período estudado houve um crescimento de consumo de energia elétrica industrial e residencial, propiciando aos seus habitantes uma melhor qualidade de vida, com melhores salários e benefícios comuns. Esse indicador é altamente favorável, pois evidencia que a tendência de agrupamento de empresas no mesmo setor, contribui para o desenvolvimento da sociedade onde está inserida, incentiva o crescimento dos municípios e fomentando as atividades. This paper seeks to explore some key elements that are relevant to improve overall productivity including, particularly, the small agricultural enterprises in the so-called "region of Araraquara". Location and infrastructure, among other factors, are of paramount importance; however I endeavor to highlight those, which I consider are the most significant and refer to aspects of cognitive and immaterial labor in the sense that its products are intangible, such as knowledge, communication, interaction, focusing on institutional collaborative activities and productive resistance.

Aiming at developing a tool for assessing the magnitude of farm animal health, an indicator named herd “animal health status” was built. To illustrate the construction of the indicator, serum samples were taken from 923 goats on 17 goat farms in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where three diseases were evaluated along with their impact percentages: caprine arthritis encephalitis, toxoplasmosis and neosporose – all of an infectious and transmissible nature and the cause of considerable economic losses. The mathematical rationale underlying the building of the “animal health status” indicator ranks properties on a 0 - 100% scale in terms of disease positivity in the herd, with the lowest indicator value indicating the highest cumulative disease frequency (0% = all animals tested positive for the three diseases, 100% = all animals tested negative for all diseases). Anti-T. gondii, anti-N. caninum and anti-CAEV antibodies were tested using indirect immunofluorescence reaction (IIFR ≥ 16), Neospora agglutination test (NAT ≥ 25) and agarose gel immunodiffusion (AGID positive or negative), respectively. The animal health status of the farms ranged from 32.38% to 96.40% according to disease positivity. The animal health status value will have a direct reflection on the production chain both on and off the farm, providing not only great market advantages, due to how the expression of animal health will add value to livestock farms, as well as on the consumer who can check the quality of animal health at the beginning of the production chain.
