O texto, inspirándose nas formulações de Edgard Morin, realiza um diagnóstico que atribui a perda de contemporaneidade da universidade à sua incapacidade de construir saberes unitários e universalistas que garantam o enfrentamento das incertezas do conhecimento e criem formas novas de entendimento do mundo. Nessa linha, questiona aqueles que atrelam o sentido do futuro, exclusivamente, ao desenvolvimento técnico, à capacidade do homem dominar a natureza e à ação demiúrgica do Estado. Insiste também quanto à necessidade de se ultrapassar o referencial antropocêntrico, cobrando dos cientistas sociais uma postura de superação da política de fragmentação e de especialização crescentes a que eles têm se submetido.

Este artigo analisa a questão do capitalismo agrário brasileiro, tomando como campo para reflexão tanto tendências gerais do desenvolvimento do capitalismo no Brasil, como o desenvolvimento do capitalismo na região da Alta Sorocabana. O artigo divide-se em quatro partes: a primeira parte constitui-se na colocação do problema, e nela são elaboradas basicamente duas idéias que o artigo discute, quais sejam: I) haveria uma incapacidade do capitalismo rural de submeter completamente o trabalhador rural a suas regras, e 2) haveria uma incapacidade propriamente empresarial por parte dos proprietários de terra, o que os torna mais proprietários que empresários. Na segunda parte reflete-se sobre a primeira idéia, levando-se em conta aspectos encontrados na A Ita Sorocabana. A terceira parte é uma discussão da segunda questão, amplamente apoiada nos resultados de pesquisa empírica, e na quarta parte se chega a algumas tentativas de conclusões.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Low back pain is a common disease in several industrialized countries, being a public health and incapacity problem, especially among economically active people. This study aimed at grouping and updating knowledge about motor control exercises for low back pain. CONTENTS: Cochrane, Medline (Pubmed) and PEDro databases were queried in the period from 2000 to 2010, using the keywords low back pain, stabilization, multifidus, transversus, exercise and training. Six randomized clinical trials were found, which have shown that such exercises may be indicated for acute low back pain to prevent recurrences, in addition to their indication to decrease chronic low back pain and incapacity. CONCLUSION: Motor control exercises do not improve pain and incapacity in acute cases, but are effective for chronic cases to relieve pain, decrease incapacities and improve quality of life.

The inclusive school consists of a school that thoroughly attends the diversity and, therefore, students with special educational needs, including the ones with physical dysfunction. The objective of this study was to identify the difficulties of a teacher in the process of school inclusion of the student with physical dysfunction in order to adapt learning resources, having adequate school furniture and to guide the teacher in specific situations. A teacher of early childhood education participated in this study. For data collection two half-structuralized interviews were used. The first obtained information concerning the teacher’s difficulties due to the motor aspects of the student with difficulty to access the curriculum. The second interview gathered information about the teacher’s perception of the partnership between the occupational therapist and the teacher in the perspective of the inclusive education. The data analysis of the first interview and the student case-study allowed elaborating occupational therapy strategies to minimize these difficulties.After elaborating the strategies, a second interview was performed. The data of this interview showed that based on the analysis and adequacy of the interaction between a person’s functional demands, the task and the environment, make it possible for the student to overcome satisfactorily the inherent challenges of the educational context, and detached the importance of the partnership of the teacher and occupational therapist in the whole process. It concludes that the pupil incapacity would not have manifested if there was an adequate environment to receive him.

Introduction: The low back pain are a problema of health. Objective: to evaluate the effects of the Maitland´s manipulation in pain, fl exibility, functional capacity and quality of life of the patients with chronic low back pain. Method: Sxteen subjects, of both genders, with the age from 23-68 years old (48.69,± 11.61 years old) were evaluated by test sit and reach (TSA), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and answered the questionnaires of the quality of life Medical Outcomes Study 36- Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) and the Roland-Morris Disability functional incapacity (RMDQ). The treatment was carried out twice a week, totaling 10 sessions. Each session lasted 30 minutes and consisted by Maitland´s techniques, applied as the symptoms evaluated at the beginning of each session. After 10 session, the subjects were re-evaluated. The data obtained in the assessments concerning the TSA and VAS were analyzed by Student t test, the data relating to the questionnaire were analyzed using the Wilcoxon non-parametric statistics test. For the interpretation was used signifi cance level of 5% (p≤0,05). Results: A signifi cant improvement was in the intensity of pain, disability, fl exibility and quality of life. Conclusion: The Maitland´s therapy showed effective, which suggests be an appropriate strategy for intervention for patients with chronic low back pain.

Autism is the theme of this study and the occurrence of the teaching-learning process of students with autism was observed. The study took place in a special education school. Nowadays, infantile Autism is classified as one of the “Development Global Disorders” and it is characterized by serious and global impairments in several aspects of the development, as the reciprocal social interaction, communication abilities and presence of behavioral stereotypes, interests and activities. Notwithstanding, these subjects present a triad of impairments concerning the development areas, such as: communication incapacity for social interaction and imagination, which affect directly the learning process. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify the teaching methodology employed for children with autism concerning special education and to verify in which aspects this methodology can help the teachinglearning process of those students. For this reason, a specialist teacher and three students with autism, of a special Education School, located in the interior of São Paulo state, took part in this study. For data collection, a total of 19 activities realized by the students with autism were observed inside the classroom. The specialized teacher answered a semi structured interview. The results demonstrated that the specialized teacher does not employ any specific teaching methodology, in order to help the teaching-learning process for those students, although there are some specific methodologies for children with autism, which are employed in special education schools. Nevertheless, it can be observed a lacuna concerning the teaching process employed by the teacher, and some uncertainly referring to the leaning process of those students with autism who attend that school

One of the main causes of incapacity in athletes, be they human or equines, is the occurrence of intra-articular lesions. The equines are each time more required in his athletic performance, resulting in intense stress to the structures that composes the locomotor device. The leading cause of human and equine athlete’s functional incapacity is the intra-articular disorders. One of the greatest advances in sports medicine was the development of arthroscopy as a minimal invasive intra-articular surgery. The defining characteristic of diagnostic or surgical arthroscopy is featured by minimal tissue damage and broad inspection of internal structures inside the joint associated with low morbidity and complications. The advantages of surgical arthroscopy over traditional surgery are well known: limited hospitalization, early return to competition, lower risks of post-operative joint rigidity, magnification of inspected structures, joint lavage associated or not with removal of potentially dangerous substances. Arthroscopy cannot replace conventional methods and must not do so; however, the intrinsic limitations of conventional diagnostic techniques, such as radiology and synovial fluid analysis, must be kept in mind, particularly in evaluating damage to cartilage and the synovial membrane. Arthroscopy has now become the accepted method of performing all joint surgery, however it is mainly used for radical surgery, such as osteochondral fragment removal, surgical curettage and arthroplasty

Introduction: Aortic insufficiency (AoI), a volume overload, is characterized by the diastolic reflux of blood from the regurgitating aorta to the left ventricle. This effect results from malfunctioning aortic cusps. The main cause of AoI in developing countries is rheumatic fever, including Brazil, and valvar degeneration in developed countries. There is a strong association between cardiovascular diseases and depression. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) are one of the most prescribed antidepressants in the world. Previous studies of our laboratory showed that the utilization of a SSRI, paroxetine, improved cardiac function in rats with sub-chronic AoI and reduced the daily ingestion of hypertonic sodium (NaCl 0,3M). Cardiovascular diseases can determine behavior changes like increase of anxiety, and it is yet unknown if AoI would determine anxiety or anhedonia, incapacity of obtaining pleasure through physical or sensorial experiences. A possible target for SSRI action could be a change in the expression of enzyme isoforms that collaborate in the contractile function of the heart muscle, like the heavy chains of myosine, the sarcoplasmatic reticulum Ca2+/ATPase (SERCA) and its regulator protein, phospholamban (PLB). Objectives: Evaluation of behavior parameters for anxiety and anhedonia state and genic expression of a-myosine, b-myosine, SERCA2a and PLB in the heart tissue of rats with subchronic AoI that received treatment with an SSRI (paroxetine) for 4 weeks. Methods: Surgery to induce AoI was performed on male Wistar rats, anxiety was evaluated by the elevated plus-maze (EPM) and state of anhedonia was tested by ingestion of 2% sucrose solution. After euthanasia the heart tissue was collected and total RNA was extracted to be analyzed by the RT-qPCR method. As a hybrid genre, the narrative of Carlo Levi is an objective account and subjective elaboration that are equalized in a literary form. Written between 1943 and 1944, the book evokes with an atmosphere of memoir the period of 1935 and 1936, the writer’s exile. The film based on the narration fragmentizes the daily life of the problematic region and highlights the truth aimed by the discourses composed in times of crises, reinforced by action and expression without provincialism and also without a compensating aristocratic pose. It is possible to see some incapacity of the film by Rosi, natural to a certain degree, to translate the synthesis of literary treatment and socio-historical reflection. For this reason it is necessary to read the adaptation as an attitude about the literary matter and the result of historical experience. The memoir character relies on the artifice that makes good use of the book’s opening, the author’s short monologue, its narrative frame. The presence of paintings materializes the questions about the absurd contained in them
