The objective of this study was to analyze the performance of solid waste management in the municipality of Tibagi, Paraná, a city with approximately 20000 inhabitants, which implemented the selective collection program called Recycle Tibagi. The analysis was based on descriptive statistical techniques, considering the three types of waste (tailings, organic and recyclable), and per capita generation of garbage upward trend in the coming years, based on the method of Winter (Triple Exponential Damping), using data recorded by the Department of the Environment and the Association of Recyclable Materials from Tibagi - ACAMARTI. Efficient selective collection from a structured environmental education program with constant training conducted with the scavengers, possible to obtain important data in sorting and marketing of recyclable materials, saving raw materials, water and energy, as well as relevant indicators social inclusion and employment generation and income. The project involves several areas of municipal management and arouses curiosity and interest in several areas: social, financial, environmental and administrative. It's a way to encourage new projects and public bodies, highlighting the importance of recycling and proper disposal of solid waste.

The management of solid waste has been a great challenge to public managers both because of its high operational costs and increasing waste generation. Besides environmental and public health harm, it involves high costs to be mitigated. It is necessary to seek solutions that focus on, amongst other matters, economic efficiency for a healthy environment. This could be reached with sustainable development, which has proven itself as an alternative model of development to the actual one in place. In order to ensure that sustentability is the goal of an activity, it is necessary to establish goals and to evaluate a system in order to track opportunities and correct possible mistakes, that is, it is necessary to elaborate a Waste Management Plan. However, in order to establish goals, it is also necessary a good description of the management of solid waste, thus diagnosis is a core aspect in the building of an specific law, as it will allow for the knowledge of the actual status of solid waste collection in Osasco town, showing what progress has been made in recent years, identifying current problems and generating the foundations to build future perspectives in the area. The present work has seeked to elaborate a diagnosis on waste management in Osasco municipality, presenting places for consultation and analysing how it meets the current legislation in place, enabling it to serve as a model for the elaboration of other diagnosis in other Brazilian municipalities

The destination of urban solid waste has became a very relevant theme because of the fast growth of cities. Bauru, a strategically located municipality, needs solutions for that problem. This research aims to show solid waste management in Bauru through a survey of the selective or regular garbage collection programs, treatment and final disposal of the waste. To do so, a questionnaire with 85 questions was used about solid waste management in the municipality and visits were made to the solid waste collection and disposal sites. Bauru has a bad selective collection program and very significant clandestine disposal of Hazardous waste. Furthermore, it doesnot treat hospital waste and has a deficient final disposal landfill.

A gestão de resíduos em distribuidoras de eletricidade é bastante complexa, pois enquadram-se em vários tipos (valorizados ou não) e gerados em grande quantidade. Em 2009, a AES Eletropaulo gerou quase quatro mil toneladas de resíduos não perigosos, subdivididos em 30 tipos. Uma divisão por materiais, após desmontagem e separação dos diferentes materiais contidos nos fios, cabos, chaves, isoladores com ferragem e para-raios, subiria o valor da venda em R$ 600 mil. Isso geraria cerca de 214 toneladas de porcelana que, moídas, poderiam substituir as 210 toneladas de brita compradas anualmente pela concessionária para uso em subestações. Cerca de 160 toneladas de porcelanas intactas poderiam ser utilizadas na confecção de gabiões para contenção de encostas. Além disso, peças de ferro galvanizado poderiam ser decapadas e novamente galvanizadas para reaproveitamento.

The issue of environmental impacts to human health and the generation and disposal of solid waste has led to a change of paradigms for your face, highlighting the need for sustainable management of municipal solid waste (MSW). In this context, the expansion of landfills in Brazil in recent decades makes it necessary to sustainable management of waste generated by this type of enterprise, since its implementation. The aim of this study was to perform a diagnosis of the generation of waste in a landfill, in the expansion phase, and the alternatives adopted for its management. The qualitative diagnosis was made from observations on site and the wastes were classified and quantified from August 2011 to January 2012. In the diagnosis was considered the reduction, reuse and recycle, in that order. The results of this study showed that the residue of the greatest generation was PEAD geomembranes used in the waterproofing of the landfill, reaching 7 t, followed by PVC pipes, which reached 850 kg, both destined for recycling. The largest volume of wastewater generated corresponded to the leachate, reaching 11,500 m3 , which were sent for treatment

Relacionar a sustentabilidade com ações desenvolvidas no Projeto de Extensão Recicla UNESP, FEB - UNESP BAURU. O mesmo visa contribuir com a Educação Ambiental nesta comunidade acadêmica, trabalhando com discentes, docentes e funcionários em palestras, treinamentos e eventos. Ocorre de forma contínua, coleta e quantificação de resíduos sólidos gerados em departamentos e outros setores. As atividades foram propostas após estudar práticas em instituições pioneiras nesta causa. A contribuição surge à medida que os benefícios podem ser vivenciados ao realizar a gestão de tais resíduos sólidos, consolidando o desejo constante pela conservação do meio ambiente.

Taking as starting the environmental, social and economic impact of construction and demolition waste in Brazilian cities were created legal mechanisms for management and administration, seeking to minimize the impacts to the maximum, since the irregular deposition can be characterized as environmental crime. CONAMA Resolution No. 307 of 2002 establishing the mandatory implementation of an Integrated Management System Construction Waste and Demolition, guiding the classification and designation of the waste generating agents, collection agents and transporters, and the areas of culling and disposal of waste. The technical partnership between the Ministry of Cities, the Environment Ministry and the Caixa Econômica Federal, coordinated by Pinto & Gonzales (2005) Management in the work and management of construction waste, proposed a guidance manual to guide the implementation of a System Integrated Management of Construction Waste in Municipalities. The municipality of Guanambi in the state of Bahia, in full economic rise, lacks a waste management of construction and demolition, since there has areas for the disposal of waste being proposed in this paper the diagnosis of waste generation in the municipality as part of the methodology proposed by the work of Pinto & Gonzales (2005).

Due to the large economic development associated with the growing consumerist lifestyle of our capitalist society, the problem of uncontrolled solid waste generation worsens, which one is considered to be one of the main responsible factors for environmental degradation. As a case study and in order to solve the problem of large generation of municipal solid waste, this work aims to study the “plano diretor” of Rio Claro city, São Paulo. The “plano diretor” is a municipal law that provides guidelines for the administration of the city, which include guidelines for the management of solid waste generated in the city. The guidelines required in order to write the “plano diretor” are provided by the national law “estatuto da cidade”, providing information for the planning and development of the cities, as well as the management of the urban environment. However, only the “estatuto da cidade” does not provide enough instructions for creating management plans in order to solve the many problems from the urban environment. Thus, studies have been done about urban and environmental management, to understand how municipal management plans should be structured. As a form of seeking information that can complement the “plano diretor” to the creation of policies for managing solid waste of the city, the “Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos”(PNRS) emerges in 2010 as a document which provides principles, objectives and guidelines to create plans for Solid Waste Management at the national, state, regional and municipal levels. Therefore, it was possible to make a joint analysis of the “plano diretor” of Rio Claro with the PNRS to identify what is already done within the municipality about the solid waste management, and identify which aspects are most significant in the municipal solid waste management that the national policy provides. Nesta pesquisa estabeleceu-se como objetivo geral analisar a gestão dos resíduos sólidos domiciliares gerados nas cidades de Tarumã e Teodoro Sampaio-SP, com a finalidade de propor ações para o gerenciamento integrado dos resíduos sólidos urbanos. Foram investigados a geração, o tratamento e a destinação dos resíduos sólidos domiciliares, além daqueles gerados no processo de produção da Usina de Açúcar e Álcool Nova América, e sua participação na vida econômica da Usina de Triagem e Compostagem de Tarumã. Esta pesquisa permitiu compreender a importância de uma gestão integrada dos resíduos sólidos visando a combater e minimizar impactos ambientais associados aos mesmos, bem como enfatizar a necessidade de articular a usina de triagem de resíduos sólidos domiciliares com a coleta seletiva em Tarumã e viabilizar a coleta seletiva em Teodoro Sampaio, garantindo assim, ganhos sociais, operacionais, econômicos, educacionais e ambientais para os municípios.

Este estudo avalia sistemas de reciclagem e de disposição de resíduos sólidos domésticos que possuem incentivos fiscais definidos pela Lei Estadual nº 13.803/2000 de Minas Gerais. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por análise de documentação de licenciamento ambiental de aterros sanitários e usinas de reciclagem e compostagem de resíduos financiados pela referida Lei e por visitas às unidades sanitárias, sendo usados os instrumentos metodológicos da agência ambiental do Estado de São Paulo (CETESB) que avaliam as condições de instalação e operação desses tipos de empreendimentos. do estudo, constatou-se que o incentivo de Minas Gerais, definido pela Lei do ICMS Ecológico, traz importantes benefícios ambientais aos municípios, embora ainda seja reduzido o número dos contemplados por esse fomento à gestão dos resíduos sólidos urbanos. Conclui-se, também, que algumas das unidades estudadas apresentam problemas de natureza ambiental e operacional.
