Focus groups are seen as important tools in qualitative research for evaluating projects aimed at articulating social networks and movements. Six focus groups were held as one of the stages in research as part of the Food Safety and Sustainable Nutrition Project (SANS). This social network articulates the academic world with social movements and government in defense of the human right to suitable nutrition. This report is aimed at discussing the experience of applying focus groups to the investigation of perceptions by health professionals of activities related to food and nutrition in basic health care. These groups made it possible to bring together 52 professionals from 13 municipalities in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and they exchanged experiences and debated issues related to food safety in the area of health care. The group discussions identified eating, nutrition vigilance and intersectoriality as emerging topics. The focus group technique proved to be a suitable tool for investigating the topic quickly and in depth, with a large number of professionals working in different contexts. In fact, the discussions went beyond the objectives of the research, since the group work made it possible to strengthen the process of articulation carried out by a network that promoting local measures in food safety and sustainable nutrition.

This paper is the result of a research project on the subject of youth, violence and school. The purpose of this project was to investigate the understanding of the young people on the violence in society, at school and in their own lives. The assumption is that knowing the aggressors' and victims' perspective about their experiences of violence helps to clarify the symbolic and the normative universes that rule violent conducts and the possible ways to reduce the incidence of violence. Data were collected through focus groups. One of the groups was composed by students qualified by their school's board as protagonists in situations of violence. The other group was consisted by those considered as good students. Data analysis shows the differences between the logic of violence at school, the school violence and violence against the school.

Since the results on the material, such as learning content, showed that the videos were able to address and the Transversal Themes and meet the need for procedural content with the proposed activities. With this, we realize that students are willing to discuss matters that are not always addressed, but now, with the creation of national curriculum standards should be reflected in the classroom

The present investigation intended to understand how Didatic has been interpreted by teachers who work with this discipline in undergraduate courses. We assume that there are still many controversies and contradictions in consideration of the epistemological status of didactics, and that this knowledge object is on constant review by professionals. Initially we were seeking evidence in the plans of courses, however, this search has put us in a situation of confusion, of uncertainty and highlighted structural problems which, at first, prevented us from using pure and simple of the contents of the plans. We analyzed 76 lesson plans, allocated to institutions in different Brazilian states, different types of institutions and the diversity was so great that led us to characterize this study as exploratory and tell us the relevance of analyzing them in the perspective of "facets". To deepen the understanding we were interviewing teachers and two focus groups conducted with teachers of Teaching. Triangulating the analysis of plans, with the reflections from the interviews, the speeches and also in the focus group data, observation of teaching practice, we put some insights on issues, even though preliminary and will require further research.

The article refers to the collective construction performed from the Multicentric Research on Humanization Training of SUS. It is about production and building consensus on different interpretations of the superfamily "expansion of the analysis capability." The methodological approach is related to the creation of analytical reports coming from four sources: Intervention Plans built at the time of training courses offered in three states (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo) by the institutional supporters in training. Also, there were questionnaires answered via Form-SUS by graduated supporters after four years of the course closing; data and analysis produced by supporters in focus groups and interviews, conducted as the research final stage in the three states. Thus, considering the inclusive methodological framework not only from the courses, but also the research that evaluated them, the participants (graduates from the training courses) produced data and started to play the active role of researchers/panelists because they got “surprised" by partial analyzes. Therefore, the article discusses the analysis capability of demand required by supporters before their working areas and the relationship of that capability with concepts and elements of Institutional Analysis. It was possible to highlight the inseparability between demands of emergency and the exercise of being next to another person and his/her interests. The conclusion is that the methodology proposed by the course allowed the supporters in training to stimulate and develop a critical capacity on their work. However, it is noticed that the expansion of such analytical capability often remained linked to the supporter, without the contagion of other workers in the territories. It was also possible to see that the course and political framework of PNH could equip the supporters, promoting empowerment from their analysis, which is essential to the interventions performance.

This project aims to use concepts of innovation and obsolescence in products, to analyze and test the technological product FingerByte, a blend glove and joystick that needs to be appropriate for specific audiences. For this adjustment, this project uses a qualitative opinion survey, known as focus group in order to obtain data during product testing with certain audiences. Another purpose of the paper is to serve as a guide to readers in similar situations where you wish to use focus groups to develop products that have not been put on the market. The experiment uses the knowledge of public relations, both in research and in data analysis. The main results of the research are described in this monograph, in order to demonstrate what are the possible types of data being collected, helping the reader to approach the experience of qualitative research

The aim of this study was to explore female community health agents’ views about the value of recording qualitative information on contextual health issues they observe during home visits, data that are not officially required to be documented for the Brazilian System of Primary Healthcare Information. Background: The study was conducted in community primary healthcare centres located in the cities of Araçatuba and Coroados (state of São Paulo) and Rio de Janeiro (state of Rio de Janeiro), Brazil. Methods: The design was a qualitative, exploratory study. The purposeful sampling criteria were being female, with a minimum of three years of continuous service in the same location. Data collection with 62 participants was conducted via 11 focus groups (in 2007 and 2008). Audio files were transcribed and submitted to the method of thematic analysis. Four themes guided the analysis: working with qualitative information and undocumented observation; reflecting on qualitative information; integrating/analysing quantitative and qualitative information; and information-sharing with agents and family health teams. In 2010, 25 community health agents verified the final interpretation of the findings. Findings: Participants valued the recording of qualitative, contextual information to expand understanding of primary healthcare issues and as an indicator of clients’ improved health behaviour and health literacy. While participants initiated the recording of additional health information, they generally did not inform the family health team about these findings. They perceived that team members devalued this type of information by considering it a reflection of the clientele’s social conditions or problems beyond the scope of medical concerns. Documentation of qualitative evidence can account for the effectiveness of health education in two ways: by improving preventative care, and by amplifying the voices of underprivileged clients who live in poverty to ensure the most appropriate and best quality primary healthcare for them.
