Informação e mobilização: a atuação do jornal O Estado de S. Paulo na campanha constitucionalista de 1932

No levante paulista de 1932, o jornal O Estado de S. Paulo ocupou papel de destaque ao noticiar, com eloqüência, as informações da guerra que lhe convinha e, principalmente, participar das articulações que redundariam no entrincheiramento. Entretanto, a atuação do periódico na conjuntura não se resume à manipulação da notícia ou deriva meramente do projeto político de seus diretores. Na “Revolução Constitucionalista” O Estado de S. Paulo agiu como o porta-voz da elite paulista. Neste texto, portanto, pretendo problematizar a participação do jornal O Estado de S. Paulo no levante de 1932, enfatizando sua condição de fonte e objeto para a produção do conhecimento histórico.

Regimes Militares e a Segurança Nacional no Cone Sul

The implantation of military regimes in South America, from the mid-1960s, happened in the context of the Cold War. As a result, both the occurrence of military coups and the plans and actions for the national defense of the Southern Cone States occurred following the logic of that period and the concept of hemispheric defense preached by the United States, with priority in combating the so-called internal subversion. Thus, the need to combat the “internal enemy” has led these countries to participate in hemispheric mechanisms or create his own arrangements for coordination. The article starts from the conflict hypothesis used by the military governments in their military planning to analyze the actions carried out against leftist movements, including coordination between the governments of the Southern Cone. The understanding of the defense concepts against Soviet communism allows us to understand that the groups placed against the military governments were seen as a danger to the State and, in that “state of war���, the means justified the ends.

Gramsci, Clausewitz, guerra e política

The aim of this text is to draft an answer to the following questions: What is the relationship between war and politics in Antonio Gramsci’s thought? How is it possible to make a relationship of war and politics according to Gramsci with Prussian general Carl von Clausewitz’s same themes? The main hypothesis of this article points to understand that war as a metaphor of politics approach – predominant point in Gramsci’s approach of war – has a broader meaning that war as an interstate conflict, which is Clausewitz’s concept. Although the war is connected with politics in both authors, interstate conflict has a stronger emphasis in clausewitzian sense and a wider sense of war as politics is found in gramscian approach.

From archives to archival science Elements for a discursive construction

This work tries to outline the theoretical background established by archival science manuals, based mainly on discourse analysis as a key discipline to understand which the differences are and points of conceptual commonality in archival science traditions studied that to some extent, are additional. As archival science is a product of historically constructed knowledge, the context of conceptual production ultimately reflects in the different schools of thought and in the methodological approach. The manuals discussed here were selected by their canon and their wide dissemination in the archival science field, and are: the Manual for the arrangement and description of archives of the Association of Dutch Archivists (1898), and Jenkinson's A manual of archive administration including the problems of war archives and archive making. We considered how in these manuals two key concepts are discussed as for organization methodology in archival science: description and classification, establishing, from these concepts, which are the intertwined discourses in these texts and relating them to their historical aspects.
