Homofobia familiar: abrindo o armário entre quatro paredes

Sexuality device authorizes families to become the guardians of its members’ sexuality, ensuring the exclusion of any kind of dissidence from heteronormativity by means of reinforcement of homophobia. This paper presents the analyses of female participants who are dissident of heteronormativity. They were accessed through snow-ball technique and were interviewed. After transcribing their interviews, the researcher produced narratives of their lives with were corroborated with the participants. Data were analyzed from a poststructuralist perspective. By then, we privileged the study of the manifestation of homophobia in the family, developing a genealogy of their detractors effects, but also highlighting modes of resistance to it. This locus of manifestation of homophobia, obscured by the intimacy of the private world, is still a fairly discussed topic in national studies and maximizes the damage caused by discrimination in macro social spaces. We pointed out, then, family as an important target of action for public policies which aim the protection of human and civil rights, as well as all kinds of violence and discrimination.

Doris Salcedo: memórias da exclusão e violência

The Colombian artist Doris Salcedo demonstrates, through his works, the universal vulnerability of human beings. The artist uses a concrete materiality such as furniture that is part of everyday life, and builds abstract works, sometimes unusual images, requiring the reader to excavate layers of memory and adjust his perception to decipher the poetic deviation and establish the sense. The theme is violence that humanity was and still been submitted in all corners of the world, particularly Latin America in the stories of oppression, dictatorships, civil wars, civil rights violated, etc. Her works echo the "silent scream" of the vulnerable.

The movement of involucral bracts of Syngonanthus elegans (Eriocaulaceae-Poales): Anatomical and ecological aspects

Syngonanthus elegans flowers are distributed in capitula whose involucral bracts open and close in a diurnal rhythm. The anatomy of these bracts was studied to understand how such movements occur and how it influences reproductive ecology of the species. The involucral bracts have a single layered epidermis composed of thick-walled cells on the abaxial surface, which are responsible for the movement. Since they are hygroscopic, these cells swell when they absorb water from the surrounding environment, causing the bracts to bend and the capitula to close. In natural conditions, the capitula open by day, when temperature increases and the relative air humidity decreases, and close at night, when temperature decreases and the relative air humidity increases. The involucral bracts may thus protect the flowers from abiotic factors, exposing them only at the time of the day when temperature is higher and insects are more active, favoring pollination by small insects. The closed capitula do not only protect the flowers, but they also function as a shelter for floral visitors as Brachiacantha australe (Coccinellidae) and Eumolpini sp. (Chrysomelidae). These small Coleoptera pollinate the flowers of S. elegans during the day and remain within the closed capitula during the night, in a possible mutualistic relationship. (C) 2008 Elsevier GmbH. Histological analysis of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone during dental movement in diabetic rats subjected to low-level laser therapy

Objective: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the histological changes of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone during dental movement in diabetic rats subjected to low level laser therapy (LLLT).Methods: The movement of the upper molar was performed in 60 male Wistar rats divided into four groups (n = 15): CTR (control), DBT (diabetic), CTR/LT (irradiated control) and DBT/LT (irradiated diabetic). Diabetes was induced with alloxan (150 mg/kg, i.p.). LLLT was applied with GaAlAs laser at 780 nm (35 J/cm(2)). After 7, 13 and 19 days, the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone were histologically analyzed.Results: The mean of osteoblasts (p < 0.01) and blood vessels (p < 0.05) were significantly decreased in DBT compared with CTR at 7 days, whereas the mean of osteoclasts was lower at 7 (p < 0.001) and 13 days (p < 0.05). In DBT/LT, only the mean of osteoclasts was lower than in CTR (p < 0.05) at 7 days, but no difference was observed at 13 and 19 days (p > 0.05). The collagenization of the periodontal ligament was impaired in DBT, whereas DBT/LLT showed density/disposition of the collagen fibers similar to those observed in CTR.Conclusions: LLLT improved the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone remodeling activity in diabetic rats during dental movement. Investigation of the effect of movement and irrigation systems on temperature in the conventional drilling of cortical bone

We have compared the results of the external irrigation technique with those of a double irrigation technique with continuous intermittent movement. Maximum thermal measurements were made in the cortical part of 10 samples of bovine ribs during osteotomy to simulate the preparation of a surgical bed for the installation of dental implants at a depth of 10 mm Twenty specimens were drilled for each group: external irrigation and continuous movement (control group 1, CG1); external irrigation and intermittent movement (control group 2, CG2); double irrigation and continuous movement (test group 1, TG1); and double irrigation and intermittent movement (test group 2, TG2). The double irrigation technique gave significantly better results regardless of the drilling movement used. Thermal increases between samples was 19.2% in group CG1, 10.4% in CG2, 5.4% in TG1, and 3.4% in TG2. The double irrigation technique produced a significantly smaller increase in temperature in the cortical bone during both types of drilling (p = 0.001), which illustrated its greater efficiency compared with that of the external irrigation technique. Educação em direitos humanos: cidadania ou emancipação humana?

This study aims to identify the horizon of emancipation in Human Rights Education, using the philosophy of praxis as a theoretical framework, basing on authors as Tonet, Losurdo, Marx, and Saviani and Duarte, taking as a privileged locus analysis of the Plan National Human Rights Education (PNEDH, 2007). The discussion about the historical development of the movement of the struggles for human rights was a starting point to indicate how, in general, these struggles have been developing since the context of bourgeois revolutions. From there we tried to discuss how the prospect of citizenship has been treated within the Rights Education, the latter being a reflection of social movements' struggles for rights from the year 1980. Situating this movement within a larger movement on the issue of education in Brazil in the twentieth century, we tried to discuss the flags such as citizenship, the strengthening of civil society and creating a culture of rights as a goal of emancipation. Seeking to differentiate between citizenship as political emancipation and human emancipation, was placed the imperative to take the citizenship as a mediator and not as an endpoint in order to equip a culture of struggle for a classless society without exploitation of man by man
