MNDO theoretical study of ethanol decomposition process on SnO2 surfaces

An MNDO study has been carried out to analyze the decomposition process of the ethanol molecule on a SnO2 surface. A (SnO2)(7) (110) model has been selected to represent the surface. The decomposition process has been monitored by selection of a hydrogen-alpha-carbon distance of the ethanol molecule as reaction coordinate, This minimum energy pro file shows a maximum of 186 kJ mol(-1), and in the transition state there is a transfer of hydrogen-alpha-carbon to the SnO2 surface. There is also the interaction between the alcohol hydroxyls and the two oxygens of the oxide.

Estudo das propriedades de troca iônica e/ou adsorção da celulose e celuloses modificadas

In this work it was studied the capacity of cellulose and chemically modified celluloses (carboxymethylcellulose, cellulose phosphate and oxicellulose) to adsorb copper(II) cations of aqueous and non aqueous solutions. The influence of the principal physical chemical parameters on the adsorption process was examined using the batch adsorption method and copper(II) perchlorate solutions, the maximum adsorption capacity determined for adsorbents were as follows (mol.g(-1)): cellulose, 0.54 . 10(-5); carboxymethylcellulose, 1.28 . 10(-4); cellulose phosphate, 1.12 . 10(-4); oxicellulose, 0.38 . 10(-4).

COUMARINS AND A FLAVONOID FROM PTEROCAULON ALOPECUROIDES

From a CH2Cl2 extract of the aerial parts of Pterocaulon alopecuroides, two oxyprenyl coumarins, 7-(2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyloxy)-6-methoxy coumarin and 7-(2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyloxy)-5-hydroxy-6-methoxy coumarin and one flavononol, 3,5,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-7-(2,3-en-3-methylbutyloxy)-2,3-dihydroflavonol, were isolated.

SEQUENCE OF A CDNA-ENCODING BOTHROPSTOXIN-I, A MYOTOXIN FROM THE VENOM OF BOTHROPS-JARARACUSSU

With the aim of further understanding the structure/function relationships in the membrane-damaging activity of the Lys(49) phospholipase A(2) (Lys(49)-PLA(2)) sub-family, we used PCR (polymerase chain reaction) on total venom gland cDNAs from Bothrops jararacussu with degenerate oligodeoxyribonucleotides encoding the N- and C-termini of myotoxin II, a Lys(49)-PLA(2) from Bothrops asper. A 350-bp cDNA coding for bothropstoxin I (BtxtxI) was amplified. Sequencing of the amplified fragment shows that BtxtxI has a Lys(49), and comparison with the known structure of myotoxin II showed that the amino acids involved in the formation of a novel dimeric structure in this protein were also conserved.

Since there are few physical education teachers working in kindergarten, now, due to the elementary school for nine years - getting children 6 years of age, this seems to be a challenge for teachers. Therefore, interested in mobilizing efforts to understand how your training is on this new context, and how is this entry of students from 6 years old in elementary school. From the perspective of the physical education teacher who is acting in this context. In this sense, the objective of this study was to analyze teacher training and teaching of physical education among children 6 years of age entering the first grade of elementary school from the perspective of physical education teachers who work in this field. This study was guided by the principles of qualitative research, making the collection through semi-structured interview, 11 participated in the investigation of physical education teachers working in the first grade of elementary school. The categories of analysis that have emerged from our study were: 1 Teacher training; 2 The 9-year elementary school for children 6 years of age; 3 Teaching physical education in early childhood education: Reflections on its limits and its possibilities. We can point out that physical education in school is still recognized as unimportant, although the LDB 9394/96 art. 26 § 3, have given your requirement, this is not enough to change the scenario that presents itself. Changes in caries prevalence in 7-12-year-old children from Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil: 1989-1995

O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a prevalência de cárie em crianças de sete a 12 anos em Araraquara, São Paulo, Brasil, em 1989 e 1995. Foi utilizada amostragem sistemática para selecionar crianças de escolas públicas. Examinadores treinados realizaram levantamentos epidemiológicos, utilizando o índice CPOD e os critérios de diagnóstico da OMS. em todas as idades, houve aumento da porcentagem de crianças livres de cárie na dentição permanente (de 29% em 1989 para 51% em 1995). Para crianças aos 12 anos de idade, foram observados índices CPOD de 3,8 em 1989 e de 2,6 em 1995. Detectaram-se também reduções nas porcentagens de crianças classificadas nas seguintes categorias do CPOD: um a três (de 40% em 1989 para 31% em 1995); quatro a seis (de 26,6% em 1989 para 16,5% em 1995) e sete ou mais (de 4,4% em 1989 para 1,5% em 1995). A meta da OMS/FDI para o ano 2000, de que aos 12 anos os indivíduos apresentem em média índice CPOD menor ou igual a três, foi atingida pelos escolares em estudo. Esforços devem ser empreendidos para que haja redução da porcentagem de crianças com experiência de cárie e sejam alcançadas as metas de saúde bucal da OMS/FDI para o ano 2010.
