Theoretical and experimental study of agricultural spraying using CFD

This paper presents a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) application about the axial fan design used in an agricultural spraying system with a theoretical and experimental analysis of comparative results between the characteristic curves of a fan for several rotations and numerical results for the influence of blade attack angle variation and optimization of the spraying system, both for a same rotation. Flow was considered three-dimensional, turbulent, isothermal, viscous and non-compressible in a steady state, disregarding any influence of the gravity field. The average turbulent field was obtained from the application of time average where the turbulence model required for closing the set of equations was the k-E model. Resolution of all connected phenomena was achieved with the help of a fluid dynamics computer, CFX, which uses the finite volumes technique as a numerical method. In order to validate the theoretical analysis, an experiment was conducted in a circular section of a horizontal wind tunnel, using a Pitot tube for pressure readings. The main results demonstrate that the methodology used, based on CFD techniques, is able to reproduce the phenomenological behavior of an axial fan in a spraying system because results were very reliable and similar to experimentally measured ones.

As passagens do sagrado: da mercadoria ao ex-voto no Santuário Nacional de Nossa Senhora Aparecida/Brasil

This article reflects on the votive objects exhibited in the room of promises situated in the National Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida, located in the city named Aparecida (São Paulo, Brazil). At the sanctuary, there is an area to receive and exhibit votive offerings, which are donated as payment or to initiate a relationship of faith. This article’s aim is to understand how, from entering the room of promises, the votive object is selected and receives new directions, within the Sanctuary or outside it. Nonetheless, a small number are kept in this specific room dedicated to votive offerings. These objects become documents, social agents, because they reveal stabilization within associative relationships. With the help of readings from Information Science and other areas, and after carrying out ethnographic research over three years, this article shows how the materiality of information is indispensable for apprehending the relationship between society and information. Through contact with the votive offerings, the visitor establishes inferences, interpretations, which assist in comprehending the space, faith, and Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida.

Cardiovascular and respiratory evaluation during cervical myelography using ioversol in dogs

The objective of this study was to evaluate cardiovascular and respiratory effects associated with neck flexion, subarachnoid puncture, cerebrospinal fluid drainage and the subarachnoid infusion of ioversol (320mgl/mL) in dogs under isoflurane general anesthesia. The dogs received infusion of: autologous cerebrospinal fluid at 38 degrees C (GC - control group); ioversol 0.3mL/ Kg at 25 degrees C (GI25) and heated to 38 degrees C (GI38). Heart rate, systolic and diastolic arterial pressure, respiratory rate, oxyhemoglobin saturation and electrocardiography readings were recorded. The results showed that cervical myelography with ioversol 320mgl/mL at 0.3mL/Kg (25 C-degrees and 38C degrees) did not significantly alter recorded parameters, except for an elevation in arterial pressure.

A aventura da escrita. A produção do diário como instrumento didático pedagógico ou de como as crianças escrevem e tecem considerações sobre o ato de escrever

The diary - considered here as a writing instrument that allows reflection of who reads and who writes - was chosen as a didactc and pedagogical, to follow the trajectory of the writing of the research subjects, which are 30 children, two groups of participants school support, offered by the ONG Núcleo Artevida, and have between 06 and 14 years of age. These children are also attending meetings of the municipal schools of the city of Rio Claro-SP, and in general, have difficulties especially in activities involving the practices of reading and writing. By the writing of the diaries, pretend to, beyond to follow the trajectory of the writing of these children, attend to theirs writing production – on the diaries - attending to what they say about the act of writing. The open pages of each book are invitations to readings, to possible readings. These readings indicate possible dialogical relations and dialogues, and indicated widespread practice of writing. Note that the written diaries is diferente of the school writing, because it doesn't carry the obligation of school tasks, and doesn't require forms, rules and pre-set styles.

Indução de morte celular por apoptose decorrente da irradiação com Raios-X: um ensaio com células mamárias humanas tumorais

Apoptosis is a form of programmed cell death selectively removes abnormal cells, and thus contributes to maintaining the balance of the dynamics of cell reproduction. Therefore the verification of the occurrence of apoptotic cell death after a pathological stimulus is crucial for the analysis of the maintenance of normal cell cycle of a given tissue or organ. In this experiment were used cells lines human mammary tumor MDAMB231, T47, MCF7, which were irradiated with X-rays at a dose of 5 Gy in a time interval of 15 seconds, and filtration of 1mm aluminum. Samples containing the cells were grown in a specific culture medium, containing fetal bovine serum and growth factor, and two samples were prepared with each of the cell lines, one to be irradiated, and another that has not been irradiated, which denoted by negative control of the irradiation. The primary goal of the experiment was to verify and compare the rates of apoptosis in each cell lines, in which were irradiated and that were not irradiated, using flow cytometry as a method for detecting apoptotic cell death in together with specific markers annexin V and propidium iodide. Data from the readings made by flow cytometry were analyzed and interpreted using the software WinMDI statistical graph. Analise do sistema de medição em peças aeronaúticas através do estudo de R&R (repetibilidade e reprodutibilidade)

The Measurement System Analysis (MSA - Measurement System Analysis) is a statistical methodology developed to study and analyze the behavior of the measurement systems, and, therefore, allow the increased of the confidence readings performed by measuring instruments. It’s widely used in the automotive industry since the 90’s and is a mandatory requirement for the approval of the parts according to ISO Standard of the automotive sector. However, the aerospace industry doesn’t require this type of Study, once which the vast majority of aeronautics parts have characteristics (dimensions) with very tight tolerances, closed, ie, at the home of microns. This work aims to create lists of recommendations for definitions of measuring instruments in developing of control plans, which correlates tolerances fields of characteristics for different settings and acceptance of the instrument, classified as optimum, recommended and not recommended, through of the study of R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) in aeronautics parts. Every methodology of the experimental part was based on modern strategy of continuous improvement, the DMAIC (Define Measure Analyze Implant Control), in order to achieve better measurement method used in the control of milling aeronautics parts, identifying and reducing the variations of the measurement process. The results of the R&R Study in large part of measuring instrument manuals were considered acceptable and/or recommended, ie with values of %P/T and %RR lower than 30%, providing statistical data which have enabled the elaboration of tables of recommendations, which, from this work, have turned into very important documents and aid for Process Engineering, having in their hands a technical study able to identify which is the most appropriate instrument to get a more robust dimensional...
