Os deslimites da poesia e os reflexos do mundo: uma leitura de No banheiro um espelho trincado

Lyric poetry is where the relationships between world perception, language and representation are mostly problematized. In fact, poetic creation oscillates between the desire of a realistic expression of the world, beings and things and the understanding that its urgent task is simply to reinvent the world order and denaturalize it. Thus, Sérgio Mello’s poems in No Banheiro um Espelho Trincado (2004) conceive a poetry mainly concerned on the tension between words and things; between the lyric subject and the world; between language and the reality it encloses, through groups of images that range from the natural to the rupture process. His poems are small pieces of narrative, scenes that are articulated through the cutting technique, like the process of a cinematographic edition.

Integrated cutting machine programming and lot sizing in furniture industry

In this paper a mathematical model that combines lot-sizing and cutting-stock problems applied to the furniture industry is presented. The model considers the usual decisions of the lot sizing problems, as well as operational decisions related to the cutting machine programming. Two sets of a priori generated cutting patterns are used, industry cutting patterns and a class of n-group cutting patterns. A strategy to improve the utilization of the cutting machine is also tested. An optimization package was used to solve the model and the computational results, using real data from a furniture factory, show that a small subset of n-group cutting patterns provides good results and that the cutting machine utilization can be improved by the proposed strategy.

Determinação de genes potencialmente responsivos à radiação ionizante através de aprendizado de máquina

A predição da resposta do tumor a radioterapia e a questão mais importante durante o tratamento de pacientes com câncer. Como consequência, a predição de genes que sejam responsivos a radiação ionizante e uma possibilidade para a melhoria dos resultados clínicos e a otimização das doses as quais os pacientes são submetidos ao longo do tratamento. Juntamente com esses dados, é possível obter respostas sobre os mecanismos de resistência a radiação dos tumores e até mesmo a identificação de biomarcadores responsáveis pela resistência a radiação ionizante que podem ser potenciais para o desenvolvimento de novas drogas visando a proteção de tecidos saudáveis. A determinação experimental dos genes que sejam responsivos à radiação ionizante é algo caro e que demanda muito tempo e trabalho; porém, se utilizarmos uma forma computacional de direcionar os estudos experimentais diretamente aos genes que têm mais potencial para serem responsivos à radiação ionizante, as pesquisas podem ser mais direcionadas e específicas. Para determinar essa característica, construímos, analisamos e determinamos os dados da topologia da rede integrada de interações moleculares entre genes humanos, contendo interações físicas entre proteínas, interações metabólicas e interações de regulação transcricional. Os dados topológicos foram utilizados como atributos de treinamento para o aprendizado de máquina, no qual os genes conhecidamente responsivos à radiação ionizante foram apresentados a um algoritmo de árvore de decisão que gerou modelos de predição com índices de sensibilidade e precisão de 5% e 72%, respectivamente. Os índices de acerto obtidos para os conjuntos de teste foram satisfatórios, retornando 91% dos genes conhecidos como responsiveis à radiação ionizante utilizados para o treinamento da árvore de decisão. História ambiental: um olhar prospectivo

Examination of methodological approaches and work possibilities for historians in the research and teaching of history of environment, its themes and potential objects of studies. The attention to books and articles helps on this balance and on the identification of future routes for the Environmental History in Brazil. This historiographical practice has been keeping, among us, a salutary opening for the dialogue with the foreign historiography, with an increasing valorization of the research in Latin America and with social science and natural subjects. The incipient Foreign Exchange Program suggests the tasks and the success found by this approach will be result of the interaction between researchers, projects in group, circulation of publications and institution strengthening of the historical knowledge in the beginning of the century.

Ontopolíticas e diagramas históricos do poder: maioria e minoria segundo Deleuze e a teoria das multidões segundo Peirce

This article aims at developing the so-called ontopolitics as G. Deleuze s innovative contribution to contemporary political philosophy. This objective will lead us to inspect the concept of power that Deleuze borrowed from Foucault and extended in order to assign to it an ontological adequacy. The concept of power opens access to another important element of the Deleuzean political philosophy, that is, the study of the historical diagrams of the power in the so-called discipline and control societies. With the combined dynamical diagram of both, we become aware of the portrait Deleuze draws for the democracy in contemporary societies. Digging into the Deleuzean ontopolitics, we will devote ourselves to the concepts of majority, minority and minor-becoming. It is in this point that the meeting between Deleuze s ontoplitics and Ch. Sanders Peirce s mathematical ontology becomes sound. It happens that Deleuze s ontopolitical concepts, besides their bond to an ontology of the power, receive also a mathematical treatment related to certain arithmetical (denumerable and nondenumerable) and geometrical notions (lines). The majorities and minorities are denumerable sets which are crossed by nondenumerable becomings. This step done, we will reach the stand point of the present paper, where we carry out initial approach with regard to an image for the concepts of majority and minority on the basis of Peirce s theory of collections and multitudes, mostly envisaging the mathematical ontology included in it. Accordingly, the main operation to be accomplished is that the Deleuzean distinction between the denumerable majorities/minorities and the nondenumerable mino-becoming may be mapped out in terms of discrete collections called enumerable, denumerable and abnumerable or postnumerable, in compliance with Peirce s terminology.
