Um modelo cognitivo baseado na atenção para consciência em robôs inteligentes

Understanding consciousness is one of the most fascinating challenges of our time. From ancient civilizations to modern philosophers, questions have been asked on how one is conscious of his/her own existence and about the world that surrounds him/her. Although there is no precise definition for consciousness, there is an agreement that it is strongly related to human cognitive processes such as: thinking, reasoning, emotions, wishes. One of the key processes to the arising of the consciousness is the attention, a process capable of promoting a selection of a few stimuli from a huge amount of information that reaches us constantly. Machine consciousness is the field of the artificial intelligence that investigate the possibility of the production of conscious processes in artificial devices. This work presents a review about the theme of consciousness - in both natural and artificial aspects -, discussing this theme from the philosophical and computational perspectives, and investigates the feasibility of the adoption of an attentional schema as the base to the cognitive processing. A formal computational model is proposed for conscious agents that integrates: short and long term memories, reasoning, planning, emotion, decision making, learning, motivation and volition. Computer experiments in a mobile robotics domain under USARSim simulation environment, proposed by RoboCup, suggest that the agent can be able to use these elements to acquire experiences based on environment stimuli. The adoption of the cognitive architecture over the attentional model has potential to allow the emergence of behaviours usually associated to the consciousness in the simulated mobile robots. A percepção dos alunos sobre a avaliação da aprendizagem no Curso de Graduação em Ciências Biológicas

A avaliação educacional pode ser compreendida como um campo da educação e, portanto, marcado por tensões, contradições, interesses, concepções de mundo, de homem, de sociedade e educação. Para alguns estudiosos desta temática, a avaliação transpõe as salas de aulas assumindo também uma posição central na organização e gestão do trabalho pedagógico e de políticas públicas para a educação, além de tornar-se um excelente instrumento de controle dos sujeitos que se encontram na tessitura do processo educativo. Este trabalho intentou traçar algumas percepções sobre a avaliação da aprendizagem no Curso de Graduação em Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP) - Campus de Rio Claro, através da ótica dos alunos dos anos finais deste Curso. Nesse sentido, buscou-se desenvolver um estudo qualitativo a partir de entrevistas semiestruturada, objetivando identificar as principais concepções e práticas sobre a avaliação da aprendizagem no curso. Os relatos indicam que a prática avaliativa, na maioria dos casos, vem adquirindo fortemente uma função somativa e classificatória, centralizada na memorização e reprodução de informações, ocorrendo quase sempre de maneira externa ao aluno e focada nos resultados da aprendizagem (produto). Pode-se dizer que a nota tem servido ora para ocultar e manter as relações hierárquicas, ora para selecionar aqueles que vão gozar de um incentivo financeiro para o desenvolvimento de outras experiências acadêmicas, resguardando uma lógica meritocrática e seletiva. De modo geral, a prática avaliativa pouco tem contribuído para a (re)organização do trabalho pedagógico pelo professor e para a superação das dificuldades e incompreensões dos alunos. Conscientizar para o bem-estar animal: posse responsável

The community awareness on responsible ownership associated with public policies is key to the promotion of animal welfare. Most cities have a large population of dogs and cats wandering causing serious health problems and abuse. This project aimed to guide and inform the population aimed at animal welfare with the simple and direct approach to issues related to responsible ownership, management, nature conservation and zoonoses. The methodology developed to approach the project in two modules: the I and II, along public and private Elementary and High Schools in Araçatuba. Module I (Mod.I) is basedon the use of puppet theater and musicals, considering the target audience children 3-10 years and the second module (Mod 2) consists of presentations of lectures by undergraduate and graduate course of Veterinary Medicine FMVA UNESP campus Araçatuba, being the target audience of High School teenagers. Data collection proceeded by questionnaires, with questions regarding the care and practices to pets. The results revealed that there is a lack of information about animal welfare practice.

Data relative on the side occupied by females in double beds were collected in order to evaluate the feasebility to carryout a more extensive study to determine if this behavioral pattern is lateralized. Information relative to the side occupied in the bed, manual lateralization, how long lived togheter, and other related questions were collected in a sample of 229 women aged from 20 to 65 years old. Total frequencies of the bed side occupied showed to be equivalent, however, the left side showed to be chosen significantly more (70%)(χ2 = 5.4; 1 d.f.; p<0.05) when the choice was stated to be spontaneous (i.e, not determined by an impositive factor) . It is concluded that the obtained data give favourable support to an extensive study on the subject, which inserts into the area of research devoted to the understanding of the functional characteristics of central nervous functioning.

Estresse no ambiente de trabalho

Stress relates to the broad and generalized body's responses to various environmental, physical and social situations. It is the force that drives the emotions and motives (desires), but is also the cause of the wear and tear of human existence. This study aims to investigate the stressors in administrative technical servers Univ. Estadual Paulista - UNESP, Bauru, as well as on companies providing service within the perimeter of the campus. Was used as a methodology, literature and field research, a questionnaire was applied in order to reach those goals. The profiles of employees who participated in the survey were: both sexes, adults, young people with different educational levels, varying levels of marital and socioeconomic status. The main stressors mentioned by the employees were: workload, dissatisfaction in the workplace, pressure boss or colleagues, as they bring consequences, fatigue or drowsiness, affecting the work environment and mostly family. Physical symptoms of stress are fatigue, difficulty relaxing and headache, and backache. And the psychological symptoms are verbalized concern, agitation, aggression, dissatisfaction, and forgetfulness and feeling of lack of time. It was concluded that these factors negatively affect the quality of life in the work of these employees, interfering with your work, family and socio-emotional life.
