The yeast Cryptococcus neoformans is the etiologic agent of cryptococcosis, an infectious cosmopolitan disease that affects humans. Although rare, this disease is potentially fatal, especially for immunocompromised hosts. This pathogen is frequently isolated from excrements of pigeons and parrots, with many environmental sources such as birds, pigeon droppings, eucalyptus leaves, decaying trees, towers, churches and places of storage of grain (the port area). The isolation of this microorganism has been obtained also from the aquatic environment. The identification of environmental sources is needed to protect human health, especially susceptible populations such as immunocompromised. Therefore, this study investigated the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans in yeast isolates obtained from samples of sea water and sand from three regions of São Paulo: São Sebastião Channel, Santos and Ubatuba. Isolates were analyzed according to micro-and macroscopic characteristics and biochemical tests: microculture, urease, ink nankin, auxanograma, zymogram and phenol. We analyzed 199 isolates, 175 of which had features suggestive for Cryptococcus spp. in microculture. All these 175 isolates were sown in the Christensen urea middle to verify the production of urease and submitted to the technique nankin ink to visualize the capsule. Of these, only 24 were selected for the next test that was the auxanograma (assimilation of carbohydrate and nitrogen). Of the 24, 10 were tested in zymograms (fermented sugar), from which 5 were selected for the phenoloxidase test in medium containing dopamine. None of the 5 isolates tested had black or brown color characteristic of Cryptococcus neoformans. One of the main causes of incapacity in athletes, be they human or equines, is the occurrence of intra-articular lesions. The equines are each time more required in his athletic performance, resulting in intense stress to the structures that composes the locomotor device. The leading cause of human and equine athlete’s functional incapacity is the intra-articular disorders. One of the greatest advances in sports medicine was the development of arthroscopy as a minimal invasive intra-articular surgery. The defining characteristic of diagnostic or surgical arthroscopy is featured by minimal tissue damage and broad inspection of internal structures inside the joint associated with low morbidity and complications. The advantages of surgical arthroscopy over traditional surgery are well known: limited hospitalization, early return to competition, lower risks of post-operative joint rigidity, magnification of inspected structures, joint lavage associated or not with removal of potentially dangerous substances. Arthroscopy cannot replace conventional methods and must not do so; however, the intrinsic limitations of conventional diagnostic techniques, such as radiology and synovial fluid analysis, must be kept in mind, particularly in evaluating damage to cartilage and the synovial membrane. Arthroscopy has now become the accepted method of performing all joint surgery, however it is mainly used for radical surgery, such as osteochondral fragment removal, surgical curettage and arthroplasty

A intervenção psicológica na prática esportiva pode ser realizada através de determinados programas psicológicos de treinamento assim como através de aconselhamento e acompanhamento. As metas principais que podem ser alcançadas através de medidas psicológicas de treinamento são a melhoria planejada e sistemática das capacidades e habilidades psíquicas individuais do rendimento, estabilização e otimização do comportamento na competição e aceleração e otimização de processos de regeneração psicológica. A lesão no esporte tem sido alvo de atenção da psicologia do esporte, em função do número crescente de atletas lesionados, influenciados pela alta exigência do esporte de rendimento, bem como do desejo humano de cada vez querer ir além. Essa demanda máxima em busca do rendimento durante as competições juntamente com o aumento das cargas de trabalho durante os treinamentos ajudam a produzir um progressivo crescimento no número de lesões. Participaram desta pesquisa quinze atletas de futebol, sexo masculino, sendo dez atletas da categoria profissional, um atleta da categoria sub-20 e quatro atletas da categoria sub-17. Eles se encontravam lesionados ou em fase inicial de retorno às atividades, da cidade de Limeira, interior do Estado de São Paulo. A pesquisa, de vertente qualitativa, utilizou-se de um questionário subjetivo (Apêndice) contendo perguntas relacionadas à atual lesão do atleta e também a recuperação fisioterápica e psicológica; para análise dos dados foram feitas leituras e propostas de aglutinação de elementos, por categorização da amostra. A ausência de um psicólogo, em especial do esporte nas equipes, no programa de reabilitação dos atletas entrevistados, fez com que não houvesse a implementação de técnicas de atendimento psicológico, tais como as de visualização...(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo)

The environmental diagnosis of any area affected for mining activities contributes in a positive form for the analysis of the characteristics of the environment, biological and social, thus being able to establish control parameters. The clay extration for red ceramics promotes the environment degradation as any another one cultivates of mineral goods, but in lesser scale, which had to the dimensions of potteries. Being thus, some decurrent environment characteristics of the clay extration had been inquired clearly used for potteries located in the city of Rio Claro, SP. For this, the followed method was the cadastre of these areas and potteries in created tables, searching, with this, the contribution for the involved people in the extract activity of related potteries and the facilitation in the visualization of the main problems, necessities and proposals for each one. It could be perceived that the environmental diagnosis of the areas had in common presented referring points to the places where if they find the activities. The same ones are located in the region the northwest of Rio Claro and well next one to the others. Moreover, they have in common, referring characteristics to the process of manufacture of bricks. In common, all the responsibility for the administration and course of the activities competes to the proper families, since the administrative part, even though to the process of manufacture of the bricks. Moreover, from the comment of the areas through field work, the prominent use of diverse areas in the region for the clay extration is noticed, making with that the region has great importance in the regional scene.

O conteúdo “Grupos sanguíneos” é abordado principalmente no ensino de biologia no Ensino Médio e está atrelado a diversas questões biológicas relevantes ao ensino básico. Além disso, sabe-se que esse tema é de cunho abstrato aos alunos, o que muitas vezes dificulta a apropriação do conteúdo pelo aluno. Nesse contexto, se torna relevante a elaboração de materiais que contribuam para um melhor processo de ensino e aprendizagem desse tema, além da incorporação da dimensão lúdica no universo escolar. Assim, a proposta do presente trabalho foi a elaboração de dois modelos didáticos de célula que facilitem a visualização da relação direta existente entre os genes responsáveis pela manifestação dos antígenos do sistema ABO, os genótipos dos diferentes indivíduos e as possibilidades de transfusão sanguínea existentes dentro de cada grupo sanguíneo. Além disso, foi construído um jogo didático de perguntas e respostas que envolvem os conhecimentos adquiridos durante a explanação teórica do professor com o intuito de fixação do conteúdo. Suitable computacional tools allow to build applications that can link information to its physical location, and represent them into visual and interactive schemes, e ectively reaching the power of visual comunication. This leads the user to synthesize information in a simple and e cient way. These applications are linked to the de nition of Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS are comprised by many concepts and tools, which have the main purpose of collecting, storing, viewing and processing spatial data, obtaining the information needed for decision making. Within this context, this paper presents the Conception and Implementation of a Control System for Urban Forestry through Integration of Free and Open Source Software. This conception arose from the need of an Environmental Project developed by the Agriculture's House of the city of Regente Feij o, which has as main objectives cataloging and management of urban a orestation of the municipality. Due to this diversity of concepts, the challenge in building this system is the integration of platforms that are involved in all stages: collecting and storage of data, including maps and other spatial information, operations on the stored information, obtaining results and graphical visualization of the same. After implementation, it was possible to provide for the system users an improvement in the capacity of perception in the information analysis and facilitate the process of decision making

A virtual studio system can use technologies as augmented reality and digital matting to decrease production costs at the same time it provides the same resources of a conventional studio. With this, it’s possible for the current studios, with low cost and using conventional devices, to create productions with greater image quality and effects. Some difficulties are recurrent in virtual studio applications that use augmented reality and digital matting. The virtual objects registration in augmented reality techniques suffer from problems caused by optical distortions in the camera, errors in the marker tracking system, lack of calibration on the equipments or on the environment (lighting, for example), or even by delays in the virtual objects display. On the other hand, the digital matting’s main problem is the real-time execution to preview the scene, which must have optimized processing speed at the same time while maintain the best image quality possible. Taking the given context into consideration, this work aims to give continuity to a virtual studio system called ARStudio, by enhancing digital matting, virtual objects registration and introducing a segmentation based on depth map, yet adding better control over functionalities previously implemented

In order to study resin distribution and homogeneity of composite laminates manufactured by RTM, it was used CYCOM 890 monolithic toughened epoxy as a matrix with two different configurations of intermediated modulus (IM) carbon fibers: Satin Weave (5HS) and non crimp fabric (NCF). The injection parameters were defined based on Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TG), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and rheological analysis. After processing the material, the resin/fiber impregnation was studied using ultrasonic test, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and flexural tests. Therefore, it was able to observe an internal residual stress during the cooling process in both laminates, higher in the composite using NCF fabric due to the lack of symmetry, although a good proportion of fiber/matrix has been verified by the lower values of flexural modulus deviation. The DMA enabled the visualization of glass transition and its association with the inter and intra molecular interaction and movement, in which the NCF composite presented better permeability due to the lowest temperature of glass transition, when compared to the Satin Weave composite

The objective of the present text is to establish connections between literature and painting through the comparison between Oswald de Andrade’s poem “Longo da Linha” and Tarsila do Amaral’s painting “Palmeiras”, both belonging to the Brazilian Modernist movement Pau-Brasil. To emphasize also the step taken by the two artists, in Modernism, against the previous academicism, C. S. Peirce’s semiotics theory will be used as analytic basis to demonstrate, in Tarsila’s painting, a path towards planarity and stylization to produce quality effects, closer to the shape and the adventure of senses than to symbolization, whilst for Oswald, this same path leads to the presence of visualization as composition factor.

The process of knowledge construction is associated with physical or mechanical view of the phenomenon. In mechanical engineering courses should supplement their courses with physical or virtual learning devices to aid visualization of these phenomena. For the purpose of improving the mechanical engineering department laboratory practice was developed, through a project, a didactic device a trellis. The purpose of this work is the detailed study by comparing the theoretical results with the experimental results collected through the specific strains collected in the Catman. The study was iniatially done with nodes made of aluminum, giving results with high errors not allowing a good conclusion of results. For best results were achieved an improvement of the structure with strict we support the lattice and, thus, further study and greater quality of lattice structure
